Shh...

They want me to be quiet. Nah. We are living in a climate that will not allow me to do such a thing. I have lived much of my life in the quiet corner minding my business, too afraid to be the "angry Black girl." Being the "Silent Black girl" no longer works for me personally. I can not and will not be quiet anymore. Especially not if it means pacifying the feelings of racists, ignoramuses, and the uninformed. Nah, I'm good. So here's the read. WHAT A TIME TO BE BLACK! Black and socially aware. Black and politically aware. Black and self-aware. Black and religiously aware. Black and paying attention! Black and bold. Black and educated. Black and informed. Black and creative. Black and loud. Black and proud. Black and unapologetic! For generations, my people have been the recurring victims of systematic disparities that have left us at the bottom of the socioeconomic and mortality totem pole. We have been made out to be, in a sense, "delusional" for expressing the struggles that we have faced. I will never understand non-Black people trying to tell us what we have experienced. How do you know what is to be Black, and you ain't never been Black? When we are told that racism is a facade or that we should simply "get over" things, it makes me question the mental stability of those who offer these things so ignorantly as solutions. How about this, be Black for a day. Have dogs sicced on you, be hosed, be followed in retail stores, have guns pointed in your face while unarmed, die because you were breathing while Black. I'll be back for y'all later in this post.

Written June 4th,2020 by Jasmine Bledsoe I want to come to a consensus within the Black community where we all learn that there is one common goal no matter our socioeconomic status, religious beliefs, etc. Life. Life in its fullness and entirety. Where we learn that we do not betray each other but instead lookout for the wellbeing of our brothers and sisters. So that this false narrative that it is somehow "weird" for us to be fighting for and caring each other can cease. We're supposed to do that. Y'all got me? Back to what I was saying. White people, specifically White Americans, speaking on Black and Brown issues has long been a pet peeve of mine. It is incredibly insensitive for anyone to speak on any situation they will never have the burden of experiencing. It is even more insensitive for you all to deflect from the issues Black people have and are facing.

It boils my blood that for every hurt or horror we as Black express you all seem to have a counter argument. It sounds like, "Yes your house is burning down, but my roof is leaking." How are the two even remotely similar? How do you even compare the two? YOU DON'T!

With that being said it's time for me to speak to you "All Lives Matter" people specifically. Come here, pay attention. You all grind my gears the most. Those of us that so passionately say "Black Lives Matter" are aware that we ALL matter. The problem is that we feel excluded when YOU say "All Lives Matter" then disregard our existence! That is the issue we have with what you say. You feel as though in order for you I will never understand Black people offended by Black people fighting for the to feel "good" or "seen", you have to rights we all know are not exactly inalienable counter argue with our struggle and I will to us. When the Bill of Rights was written never get down with that. WE were not in mind. Let's be real. You all ask why we are still fighting and chanting "Black Lives Matter", it's because we HAVE to. For you, for me, for us.

I feel this post becoming long and I didn't come here to rant but to inform. So I'll leave you with this, for every "argument" you all have had with what I have said on my social media platforms I have complied a list of phrases with historical references that may help you better understand:

"Remember the Tea"- The Boston Tea Party "Historically Arsonists"- The burning of crosses, homes, churches, and Black bodies "Thanksgiving Ain't No Feast"- The Massacre of Native Americans "Hey Cousin"- The Rape and Forced Matriarchy of Black Women "Me Too"- The Criminalization of Blackness Let me be clear, I operate in love, light, and peace. But where there is no justice, there is no peace. I send light to every soul hurting and trying to comprehend. We are in a Civil Rights, a Human Rights, movement and I will speak for every person that is not brave enough or able to speak for themselves. I will not let the memories of my family members or brothers and sisters die. I will fight for them. I will hold people accountable. I will force change.

"Racism, in the first place, is a weapon used by the wealthy to increase the profits they bring in by paying Black workers less for their work." -Angela Davis

Sasha The Diva is real, raw, and uncut! She is a mommy (one that is forever and all in her kid’s business…), a wifey, “I love being a wife to my husband, cooking dinner, cutting the grass, kissing on him, and fighting too.” Somebody’s grandchild, momma’s daughter, “she has always been there for me, she has guided me, and she is my best friend,” she says. Her daddy’s diva, “My daddy Vernon, I’m his twin and I will not change a thing, the good and the bad. That’s where the name came from,” she explains. Sasha is a radio/tv personality, a businesswoman. But at the end of the day, she admits, she is just Sasha! There hasn’t been just ONE opportunity that Sasha is proud of she explains in a recent interview, “I can’t say it’s just one. The first one was doing radio with Randy Dennis. That is where I learned the morning show, he became my mentor, I learned to work in a team, and I found my voice. My second was Kiss 104.1. Kiss 104 let me be Sasha the Diva all the way…the crazy wild child, allowed me to be creative, and let me run it the way I wanted to run it thanks to Tony Kidd. Now the big boy is allowing me to be in syndicated radio and this baby…the possibilities are unlimited! I can just go on and on…The travel, endorsements, listeners, celebrities, TV, etc. When asked what it was like having roles in movies and reality TV shows, Sasha continued to let us in her life, “It was scary. It was scary because I had to learn the lines and being in radio, you are not reading. So, it was a challenge because I had to learn their words, so at some point that let me just ad-libbed. It just gave me a headache thinking about it. I commend actors. Now the television, I loved, I can do that with my eyes closed, being in front of people, I don’t need a script I feed all there energy and that will be more of my future. I love me some Oprah but I’m coming for you girl!”

Rick and Sasha Morning Show Sasha explained that her hosting of a morning show was all that she wanted to do as a child, at the age of 3 or 4 she was in the mirror with kitchen utensils pretending to do radio and television talking to people all over the world. Her sharing knowledge, hanging with celebrities, traveling, interacting with my listeners. She believes it is her gift.

Sasha gives advice for aspiring entrepreneurs… “Know your business. Do your research. Benchmark a similar company that you are trying to get into. Have some money, have good credit and don’t think the money is going to come in the beginning and understand you work 10 times harder when it’s your own… Know how to do everything. Know everything about your money, sign your own checks!”

Black Lives Matter, Police Brutality, and Covid-19: Reflecting on the Early Days of the 21st-Century American Revolution Article Contributor: Katy Mead June 10, 2020 For the past 11 days, I have attended as many protests as possible to support BLM. This year has been full of upheaval and life-changing events already, and when the video footage of yet another black man being murdered by the police surfaced, I was beside myself. In a world where the blatant mishandling of Covid-19 threatened the safety of all Americans, the biggest failure of our leadership was the ongoing racism and oppression that has plagued the black community for centuries. The pattern of police brutality and death among people of color, specifically the black community, were not unknown to me prior to this year; growing up in a small town in East Texas, I saw how different the lived experiences of my black friends were than my own. I have paid attention to it in the news in the past, and often wondered how changes could be made, but never gone any further than that.

My friend and I stayed for 4 hours with fellow protestors. We were herded around downtown, driven back by increasingly frequent bouts of tear gas attacks and rounds of rubber bullets. I had never experienced tear gas before, and got hit three times that day. I hope I never have to experience it again, but I will gladly continue to protest and run that risk to drive for the necessary changes in this country. I was raised with the belief that everyone in America has a voice, and everyone can make their voice heard. I now know that is untrue. If it were true, then a movement like BLM would not be necessary to stop the police violence. If every voice in America had a platform, then we would not have gotten to the point where protests and riots were the only options left to gain the ear of those in authority – and make no mistake, the propensity for violence shown in response to these protests is undeniable proof that our voices are not welcome.

As the days continue, I have been trying to When the protests began in find the best way to use my platform as a Dallas on May 29, I was home watching white woman to be an effective activist and live updates. The following morning, I ally. This meant stepping confidently into the knew I could not stay home another incredibly uncomfortable trenches between second. I asked a friend to go with me, the white moderate and black voices who so and we headed into Dallas that afternoon. desperately need to be heard. This is the My experience on May 30 in Dallas made space I must occupy, lending my presence it impossible to doubt the critical nature of and support on the front lines while reaching these protests against police brutality. We out to facilitate the necessary conversations walked into a war zone. Upon reaching with those who resist any mention of white City Hall after walking down a line of privilege. For every person who denies the police in full riot gear, the first thing I reality and impact of white privilege, there is witnessed was an officer shooting a a story they can relate to that will help open peaceful protestor with a rubber bullet at their eyes. For my father, a runner and point blank range in the abdomen. The lifelong construction worker, it was Ahmaud officer laughed as the man immediately Arbery. He told me he cannot begin to count fell to the ground. His friends had to carry the number of times he has stopped during a him away to where an ambulance could run to walk through an open construction reach him. The police then proceeded to site, and he has never worried his life may be drive protestors away from City Hall in danger. using tear gas and the threat of more rubber bullets.

The biggest struggle is finding a way to approach the topic in a constructive manner since there is so much emotion beneath the surface. There is no way around this struggle, the only way to successfully drive for the necessary change is to help more people see the systemic racism and oppression for what it is instead of denying it. As Juneteenth rapidly approaches, I find myself reflecting on the time I spent living on the East Coast; I remember having to explain to friends and coworkers what Juneteenth is and why it is celebrated in Texas. There is a disturbing lack of history pertaining to black people included in public school curricula. We are taught to revere Christopher Columbus and the founding fathers, but are not given the context of how morally bankrupt their characters must have been to steal land from Native Americans they slaughtered, and then declare independence from one country while forcing slaves to build their new country for free. We celebrate the Fourth of July as a beacon of freedom and hope, but we do not pause and ask ourselves who exactly this beacon shines on. Americans were not all free on July 4, 1776. We weren’t even all free on June 19, 1865. We will not all be free until every American citizen is treated equally. For some reason the fight for equal rights seems to have slowly lost traction and visibility from the Civil Rights Era to this year. Bringing it back to the forefront is going to be a long, uphill battle; it has never been more critical to join in and support the demands for human rights for all Americans. I will continue protesting and finding new ways to use my own personal platform to reach out across the trenches so that black voices can be heard. We the people still have the power, but only when we unify and stand strong together. We must join together so we can all be heard. No justice, no peace. 18

Credit reports are different from credit scores.

Negative credit items will eventually come off your credit report.

FICO credit scores range from 300 to 850.

Majority of lenders use FICO scores when making decisions.

Credit scores aren’t the only deciding factors for lending decisions.

Your credit report can help you spot fraud.
