CONCEPT

“The community must be easy to decompose as it has been easy to compose. It must be and remain flexible until further notice and while the satisfaction lasts.” Comunity: In search of security in a hostile world. - Zygmunt Bauman

Walter Weberhofer, The Mermaid 1957. Located in Santa María del Mar, Lima, Peru. Conects the building with the exterior through a free ground level, stairs, and windows directioned to the Pacific Ocean.

The conceptual model is the product of the building and the text studied, the tower pretends to have conection with the exterior through terraces that make a transition in the facade from the lowest levels to the top.

9

It is proposed a free ground floor open in all the sides, in this way people can walk in a free way, also it is proposed an entrance for the private vehicles, and in the other side for entrances and departures of public transportation. It is made a big stair that also works as an amphiteather giving a different human scale in the side of the big street.

GROUND FLOOR

SECTION

One of the biggest challenges of the project was locate all the program in a vertical tower, in this way all the main services are located at the center of the tower from the parking area to the top, but also giving space to have a external stair that connect all the program.

It was projected a free ground floor, that connects the pedestrians to the whole building. It is located a ramp that connects with the lobby of the apartments and the main stair that conects with the library, also a little auditoriun for presentations with a view to the central patio.

20

GROUND FLOOR

SECTION

The relation with the project in front was important in order to give to the pedestrians a holistic view of what is happening inside the building. In my project I looked for connect all the program with ramps located in the middle of the project giving natural light and ventilation.

21

PLANS

The library is located in two parts, divided by a central patio that connects each part of the proyect by ramps. The central patio is located in the middle in order to give natural light, in this same some areas has double heights or triple. The library conects with the final ramp to the coffee shop located in a terrace.

22

PLANS

During the design process I always looked for a generous view of the apartments, because of that I decided to locate some apartments in the front side conected by the ramps and then the back tower that will have 2 apartments by floor, they are bigger and has natural ventilation in the front and back with a double height.
