Anna Photography by Diana Nguyen

First Shot Once upon a time, a National Geographic photographer critiqued my small portfolio and suggested I add more people into my compositions. People make the shots more interesting, he explained. I knew he was right (but even if he were wrong, who am I to say otherwise?). So I dabbled with including more people in my photographs in late 2014 throughout 2015....from a distance. There was something frightening about approaching people to take their picture. But this past October, I finally asked a stranger The Question (“Can I take your picture?”). It was a little nerve-racking asking, but I liked the resulting photo. It was then that I decided to be more proactive with shooting people. Fast forward to New Year’s Day 2016: I found Anna, who became my first lab rat photography subject. And I’ll say it: she made my photos very interesting (i.e. worth looking at). I cannot think of a better person who could have gotten me started on shooting portraits. (Thank you, Anna.) So friends, flip through and meet Anna.
