Every day 567,715 people across the United States experience homelessness.

Every day more than 3,500 people in the Charlotte, NC area experience homelessness.

The goal of the Homeowners Impact Fund is to end homelessness in local communities. We invite you to join our efforts to solve a national crisis, one community at a time.

Here’s How it Works: We will ask everyone involved in each home transaction to donate a minimum of $10 to the Homeowners Impact Fund. This includes the agents, buyer, seller, lender, title company and closing attorney. Together, if everyone participates, we believe we can raise a substantial amount of money to make an impact on the homeless in our communities.

The funds will be distributed to reputable local organizations serving individuals and families in need of rent assistance and support services to find an affordable home.

This will include those in need of short-term assistance, and those with disabilities in need of long-term assistance for housing.

We will allocate funds in 2020/21 to A Roof Above, Safe Alliance & Charlotte Family Housing Authority A Roof Above provides a wide spectrum of services from street outreach and emergency shelter to permanent supportive housing, moving around 500 people out of homelessness each year.

Charlotte Family Housing empowers working families experiencing homelessness to achieve life long self sufficiency through shelter, housing, and support services. The program typically provides two years of rent subsidy and surrounding support services. Last year, 207 families and 432 children were supported through the work of Charlotte Family Housing.

Safe Alliance serves Mecklenburg County residents in imminent danger ready to escape from a domestic violence situation. The shelter has 19 apartment style suites for families and 10 units for single adults.

We won't stop until there are no homeless in our community and throughout the country.

We invite you to join our efforts to solve a national crisis as a member of the Real Estate Community of service providers.

Corporate Partner Guidelines To be listed as a partner on the HIF website we ask for you to commit to the following: • Give $10 per real estate closing.

• Promote and encourage others to give.

• Donate a minimum of $1000 per year Individual Patron Guidelines A minimum $1000 donation is required to be listed as a patron on the HIF website.

Kathy Izard is an awardwinning author and speaker who helped bring transformation to Charlotte in homelessness, housing and mental health. Her memoir The Hundred Story Home has been featured on NPR as well as The Today Show inspiring people to be change-makers in their communities. In 2019 she released A Good Night for Mr. Coleman, a children’s book written to encourage kids to dream big and Do Good. Kathy is the recipient of a Christopher Award, the Bank of America Neighborhood Hero Award and recognized as a William J. Clinton Distinguished Guest Lecturer.
