Welcome to the 2023/24 Fall/Winter Guide!
Welcome to the Fall/Winter Activity Guide! We appreciate the 2,000 plus responses we received to our community survey this summer – it was a bit of an overwhelming response. One of the questions asked about ways individuals believed Dickinson Parks and Recreation improved the community. Over 70% of respondents believed that recreation was important or very important to improving mental health. This even outranked those who believed that public recreation was important for promoting physical health and combating obesity. This goes hand in hand with the words the respondents most often chose to describe Dickinson Parks and Recreation: Fun and Community.
I want you to think back to the most memorable times in your life. These events most likely occurred surrounded by family and friends. And, chances are, recreation played a part in your experience. In a society that seems increasingly divided, recreation continues to play a role in uniting communities and fostering positive relationships. Recreation truly is the heartbeat of the community.
