Welcome to the Spring/Summer Activity Guide. We are extremely proud of the programs, events and tournaments being offered this summer and we are positive there is something for everyone. Our tremendous staff have worked hard to plan and prepare a summer of fun and engaging activities—the opportunities are endless!!

REGISTRATION

All of our programs require preparation to provide the best possible experience. Please help us by registering prior to program deadlines. Although registration is specific to each program, our opening registration date is April 14th. Please watch individual program information for specific registration dates.

Go to a specific program to register with us online at dickinsonparks.org. No online transaction fees will apply. If you need assistance with your online account, please call 701-456-2074 during normal business hours of Mon-Thur 7:30 am-5:00 pm; Fridays 7:30 am-1:30 pm. 2

In order to keep things organized, we will not accept registrations at program sites, unless specified.

PAYMENTS

Payments are due at time of registration. We accept cash, checks, credit cards and DPR gift cards. Please make checks payable to Dickinson Parks & Recreation. We accept Mastercard, Visa and Discover. *DPR does not want to deny any child participation due to the inability to pay. Please see us for details.

REFUNDS

There is a NO REFUND POLICY for classes which have limited enrollment. Refunds will be granted if a cancellation is completed prior to the program’s begin date (no refunds will be given once the program has started).

Aquatic Lessons Youth Programs

Preschool - Level 5

Youth aquatic lessons consist of 10 lessons (30 minutes each) that meet Monday-Friday for two consecutive weeks. Lessons follow the American Red Cross Learn to Swim Program. To help select the appropriate level for your child please see the American Red Cross Level class descriptions located on dickinsonparks.org. Only one session of lessons may be registered for at a time. To sign up for additional lessons you must first complete your current sessions, allowing you to register for the appropriate level.

Aquatic Lessons These classes are designed to encourage parent/child learning and water adjustment in a safe and positive setting. Parents accompany their children at all times while an experienced instructor guides parents in teaching their children fundamental safety and aquatic skills. Youth Art & Cooking Youth Programs

MINI MONDAY ART

Children will explore using a variety of materials to create an art piece of their own. Demonstration and assistance of the summer themed craft will be introduced each week. Participants will have the chance to increase their sensory and fine motor skills while getting messy. Children must be accompanied by an adult or someone 16 or older. KIDS COOKING CLASS

The Kids Cooking Class is designed to teach your children how to be independent in the kitchen while learning basic cooking skills and kitchen safety. Food made in class will be able to be brought home when finished. The class is lead by Kailah Haag, RDN who will provide guidance in making tasty, but also healthy food. Youth Golf •

Beginner golf instructs the learner in the basics and fundamentals of the golf swing, putting and chipping. • Intermediate instruction includes more in depth and individual instruction of the golf swing, putting and chipping and bunker play. Some procedures, rules and etiquette are covered at this level. Learners must have completed beginner golf instruction last summer or this summer. • Advanced competitive golf includes some individual swing instruction, bunker, trouble shots, and course management. Some light team level competition is covered in this session. This session is available for 9 year olds and older only. Lessons instructed/supervised by a certified PGA golf professional. PGA JR GOLF LEAGUE

PGA Junior League Golf (PGA JLG) is a fun, social and inclusive opportunity to learn and enjoy the game of golf. Like many other recreational youth sports, participants wear numbered jerseys and play on teams with friends. PGA JLG features team vs. team competitions in structured leagues that provide a popular, less stressful scramble format as opposed to stroke-play competition. We will introduce your child to a variety of activities from sports, to active games, fitness activities and nutrition education. Each week there will be a different activity focus. Youth Fitness Dickinson Parks and Recreation along with the Optimist Club gives children the opportunity to have a structured fun filled morning at the park. Weekly themes and activities are planned by the staff providing for fun times all summer long. Enjoy free play on the new play equipment. Crafts, songs, and games are all part of this supervised Play Park program. Children must bring a water bottle and snack. Tennis shoes and comfortable clothing adaptable for weather is required. SAFETY CITY

Dickinson Parks and Recreation offers a comprehensive, award winning safety education program sponsored in part by the Kiwanis Club. Children will practice “real life” safety situations in a miniature “city.” Children will have fun learning about safety in the following areas: Pedestrian and bicycle safety, railroad crossings, animal safety, electrical safety, school bus safety, stranger danger, seat belts, pool safety, calling 911 as well as farm safety and what to do in an emergency situation. Special guests from the community will make appearances to demonstrate the safety topics addressed each day. Registration deadline is June 9.
