Orientation class a necessity to check out power boats
Dec. 1 & 15 These one-hour orientation classes are required in order to checkout motor-driven ORC boats. Advance class registration required. Cost is $5. We’re heading to Glowspa for a great spa experience. You’ll enjoy a 30-minute steam, 60-minute float and a 60-minute massage. Nearly three hours of spa nirvana. $135. Work together to solve puzzles, find clues and ultimately escape one of the locked rooms. Afterward, we will head to the Uptown, Charlotte area for dinner and the chance to look at local art. Trip departs from the Bowman Quarterdeck at 7 a.m., and return approximately at 11 p.m. Dinner is at your own expense. Folly Island biking - Dec. 12. Folly Beach, S.C. After we and the bikes are transported to a nearby drop-off spot, the pedaling begins as we head towards Folly Island, crossing the Folly River and continuing to historical Folly Beach to discover hidden secrets of the island. During our tour, you will see the famous Morris Island lighthouse. $15. Participants should bring snacks and plenty of water to stay hydrated during the bike ride. Please note that bicycle helmets are required. Bring your own bicycle or rent one from ORC. Trip departs the ORC at 8 a.m., returning around 4 p.m. Lunch at own cost. Coastal Climbing Night – Dec. 13. Charleston. Indoor free climbing at its best! Passport to Manhood Lock-in Friday, Dec. 4
Pre-teen and young teenage boys face a lot of challenges and situations these days. Joint Base Charleston Youth Programs is hosting a boys-only lock-in at the Air Base Youth Center for ages 9-17 to help these young men make smart choices and share experiences. Also, there will be plenty of
game time, including basketball tournaments and team building activities. Pre-registration required. Cost is $5 for Youth Program members and $10 for non-members. Youth are encouraged to invite a friend. Call either Youth Center for additional program information.
Tae Kwon Do lessons
Lessons for ages 7-17 begin this month at the Air Base Youth Center. Physicals are required to participate. Classes are held Mondays and Wednesdays, 5-6:30 p.m. Cost is $55 a month. Call for more information.

Calling all youth, teen artists Do you have a Renior, Jackson Pollock or Annie Leibovitz wannabe in your family? Youth ages 5-18 are encouraged to submit their works to the Weapons Station Youth Center for the National Fine Arts Competition. This free program is sponsored by the Boys and Girls Clubs of America as part of the club’s Fine Arts Exhibition. Categories for submission include multiple art mediums such as chalk, pastels, oil, etc., along with photography and digital art. Deadline to submit works of art to the Weapons Station Youth Center is Feb. 10. An art show showcasing all of the works is scheduled for Feb. 19, 4-6 p.m., at the youth center. The camps run Dec. 21 through Dec. 31. Plenty of exciting activities are planned including field trips, arts & crafts, games and a lot more. Fees to attend are based on total family income.
