It’s Oyster Roast time! Whether you are an old salt to the local area or a newbee, there’s a Lowcountry tradition that brings a smile to every face - the oyster roast. This is an event that brings a gathering of friends, food and steaming pots of oysters together for usually no special occasion except to slurp these bivalve mollusks, mingle with old buddies, make new ones, talk trash about someone else’s football team and have some fun. On Friday, Jan. 16 the Redbank Club will host a roast from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. The cost is $20 in-advance for this all-you-care-to-eat affair. The price goes up $5 the day of the event. Not into oysters? We will also have chili, hot dogs, and chips and dip. Drinks include tea, coffee and hot chocolate. We’ll also have a cash bar, and appropriate beach and party music by a DJ. Be sure to bring your gloves and shuckers. Tickets are on sale now at the Redbank Club office.

All-you-care-to-eat soup & salad Includes fresh rolls - Just $7 per person Served Monday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday (Blue Plate Special on Tuesdays)

Great weekday bowling deal Here’s a great and inexpensive weekday date night! Monday through Thursday from 5 to 10 p.m., bowl for the amazing prize of only $1.50 per game! And don’t forget Tuesday nights are 70s “big hair band” and rocker music nights.

League sign-ups underway Sign-ups are now underway for league bowling action that starts in February. This is a 10-week session, with the number of individual sign-ups determining the team size. Stop by the front counter for more details or to register.

Late-night weekend thrills

Re-fitting Pro Shop Special During January, get two new finger inserts installed for the everyday price of one! Stop by and see Greg for a professional fitting. The pro shop also has a super line of bowling balls, bags, shoe and dozens of other accessories. Special orders always welcome. Custom fitting and drilling of new bowling balls is available.

Every Friday and Saturday night we turn down the house lights, turn up the music, plug in the fog machine, break out the glow-in-the-dark bowling balls and pins, then do some bowling and dancing. The fun starts each night at 9:30 p.m., and goes to 12:30 a.m. Cost is $10 per person.

Here are two opportunities to hit it big at bingo

We have two great ways to play bingo at Marrington Bowling Center. First, you can enjoy electronic “Quick Play” bingo in the game room. Or second, if you feel the need to have a dauber in your hand, purchase your Bonanza Bingo cards at the front desk for $1 each. Match your cards to the daily numbers and you may win up to $1,000.

Snack Bar gets makeover The Marrington Bowling Center snack bar will be closed from Jan. 1 through mid-February for renovation. Refreshments such as sodas, beer and coffee along with snacks will be available for purchase. Be sure to pick up a copy of the February Breeze for details on the grand re-opening.

Special Valentine’s Key West getaway

Feb. 11-16, 2015 Still a U.S. territory, but closer to Cuba than Miami, Key West, Florida is dynamic collage of culture, food, nature and people. Without a doubt, one of the most “laid back” cities on the planet, Key West is known for its easy-going lifestyle, great weather and nearly 24/7 party atmosphere. Travel with us in February to experience four days and five nights of this quirky, unique and sometime eccentric piece of real estate. The $450 per person cost based on double occupancy covers transportation, five nights lodging, breakfast and lunch supplies, and scheduled shuttles around town. Single rate is $550 per person. This would make a super Valentine’s Day surprise destination. Space is limited and advanced reservations are required because this trip always fills up fast.

Class required for boat use
