Letter from the Editor

Dearly Beloved, Pop the champagne and celebrate Life! Love! and what makes us Happy! Each issue I find myself thanking God for allowing me to create this magazine and show all of you the amazing artists, ideas, people, places, and beauty in my world. Hopefully you open your arms and find a way to make them all a part of yours as well by reading this and being inspired in some way. We have a lot to cover starting with the legendary musician Prince. No matter who you are or where you live you know him and I know because of my blessed encounters with him that I miss him too. We are lucky that this beautiful artist planned ahead and can still share new music with us as his music contuses to be released. In this issue we give you new perspectives on other ways this tremendous person and artist still lives on in our lives from places to fashion. The restrictive sign of the times seems to be evolving and allowing us to open up more. Embrace more. Even embrace more of who we are. I give you a glimpse into what is behind the naming of ADORE as well as Prince’s influence on my own career and remembering him in “The Beautiful Experience”. Let’s get to celebrating in a big way! Love! And lots of it. With social distancing seemingly falling away (almost over night in some places) and such a stretch of time without even as much as a hug or high five, lets learn to be together and show our love loud and proud! Sometimes being on top of each other for a long time can drive a couple MAD. So my friends Joanie and Adam from Haven House talk about the pillars of a relationship so that we can get to the celebration part. Then the love can be captured through a lense and kept forever. Like in our story "Couplehood Captured” where our friend Ashley Wright talks about capturing the essence of your love on film in a true and fun way. Get the pics down, now we need the perfect words to express our love for one another. Excitement is buzzing to show our new home projects we accomplished over Covid lockdown or the big bashes we have planned coming up (hopefully mask free) so we can see smiling faces that we have so missed.

K. Minks

Publisher | Editor In Chief , Kat Minks

So it’s my pleasure to bring you the professionals and tips that will get you running to your closet to get your party pants or dresses on! Yes we have great style features in this issue that are close to my roots as a stylist and designer and I hope you enjoy all of it.

SIMPLE AND SLEEK Dressing for the celebrations of being together wedding, formal, or casual is about to commence! Before you run out and buy everything, get It home only to find nothing really works the way you had Imagined take a look at our style guide to assist you. When all else fails, grab the one of the hottest trends of the year. A sleek suit like the one featured In our Prince fashion tribute story (also found In this issue) taking the place of our uniform of joggers in the Covid years past. For a Mother, Bridesmaids

Naturally attire really Is determined by location and time of day but that doesn't mean you have to forego what Is truly complimentary to your shape or outwardly shows your own personality.

For A Bride In a statement of powerful femininity when Meghan Markle married Prince Harry in a highly anticipated sleek, sophisticated gown that had no beading and almost no train. This was a show stopping example that the feminine body can be accentuated in crisp, unfussy lines while remaining undeniably sexy. While some scoffed and claimed Meghan's wedding gown was a "bore", what the wedding world would experience soon after was a trend launched by Meghan that "crossed the pond" to today's American Bride and American woman .

Many brides are allowing their parties to choose their own color of dress within a certain tone or shade. It Is now not out of the ordinary to see bridal parties with, blue , yellow , blush, and green all together. It is a parade of texture when It comes to fabrics now! Everything from satin, chiffon, velvet are very popular Ina modern sleek cut

With lifestyle changes caused by the pandemic and the average age of couples getting married now up to age 33, the trend toward a more modern, subdued silhouette and style for dresses is a trend you’ll see extended into 2022. So much impacts how we select our clothing. Houses are not getting less expensive and has many people thinking about hoIt is not uncommon for this to happen in history if you look fashion trends of the late 20's and 30's. Thankfully, many designers are creating designs reminiscent of a 90's runway chic, with simple non-beaded tops or body suits and a full simple skirt in tulle.

For a Guest

As a guest of course adhering by suggested attire but also paying attention to venue and location Is key. Look out for all of those barn and rustic venues! Will you be treading In grass to get to the party? You will likely not want to wear a heel for that part at least.

How do you

culminate your entire relationship with someone and sum it up in a few minutes that “bring down the house”?

TO EVERYONES EARS

Adore Magazine Volume 6

You can wing it and the night before your big stage presence try to come up with things that are witty and heartfelt that speak to the true companionship of the person you are writing about. You may even put it off to the day of the event and say, “ I can easily tell some great memories about my dear friend or love of my life” and then disaster strikes! You had 3 glasses of champagne instead of 2 at cocktail hour. Everyone is seated for dinner and the glasses star “Ching Ching Chinging”. Your heart starts to beat fast and everything that you thought you could say and had prepared “right up there” is gone. What do you do? Well at this point we are sorry to say it’s too late. You may have an epic fail of a speech. You may walk away feeling you really messed up your big chance to make a lasting memory. What ever you came up with at this point was likely not what your heart wanted to say. All of this may have been avoided had you met Katelyn Peterson of Wedding Words. It’s not too good to be true. She actually helps people craft the most perfect words and coaches you through the nervousness no what the occasion! She talks to us about how she gets you to spill the goods in the most elegant way that leaves you looking like a poetic rock star at any event 49

and no matter what your role is.

Celebrations

To Everyone’s Ears

Adore: Do you recall a particular moment that you felt speech writing for weddings was something that was your calling? Katelyn: The idea for my vow and speech writing business was born the weekend of my grandpa's funeral. My dad struggled with how to write a eulogy that would do justice to how he felt about his dad. I worked with him line by line to rewrite the eulogy and reread it to my dad. It was exactly how he wanted to capture his dad but he had no idea how to put all of his ideas and emotions into writing by himself. From that moment, I realized there must be other people who struggle to articulate their feelings for milestone moments. Adore: You say that you love love stories from your days as a bridal gown consultant, but at what point did you know wedding speech writing was a service that many needed and were possibly afraid to ask for? Katelyn : After the experience mentioned before, I created a website quickly to test the idea. Soon one bride turned into two and grooms and parents and wedding party members all began reaching out to me. Each one would come to me saying how stressed and overwhelmed they felt. That's when I knew there was a need for a vow and speech writing service. Adore: You have so many great services for all important facets of family and friends within an occasion, but what is the most sought out service you offer? Why do you think that is? Katelyn : Couples reaching out for custom written vows is very popular. Couples are looking for ways to personalize their wedding and make sure it really takes on the feeling of their personality. What better place to do that at your wedding than during your vows? Adore: What are the price ranges for them? Katelyn: Prices for various services currently range from $100 to $800. Adore: When do you think someone should start to practice their vow writing to deliver the best possible speech because so often you hear of people trying to pull something together a few days or night before? Katelyn: Vow and speech writing defiantly tend to be a task that people procrastinate on. And I think it's because they don't know what to write or how to do it. It's this thing that we're expected to intuitively know how to do but not everyone is a writer. I recommend that couples writing vows and wedding party members who are giving a speech should start no later than one month before the wedding date. This will give you time to write, re-write, and practice your speech. Adore: What do you think blocks people from crafting a good speech for a wedding or any event for that matter? Adore Magazine Volume 6

Katelyn Peterson of Wedding Words Photo by Monika Broz

Katelyn: Fear blocks people from crafting their speech. Fear that it won't be good enough. Fear that it won't capture how they feel. Fear that people won't like it. My advice is to allow yourself to write that messy first draft. Don't judge it or yourself. Just get words down on paper. Editing will become your best friend but you can't edit if you haven't at least put a few words down on paper. Adore: What is the process in starting to craft the perfect speech when you work with a client? Katelyn: I meet with every client over a video call. I ask them a ton of questions but in a very conversational way. By the end of that call, I know what the theme of the speech will be and which stories I'll likely include or exclude. Adore: What do you believe are the elements that make a speech about two individuals the perfect combination of tasteful, funny, emotional, and joyful? Katelyn: Include stories about each person in the couple and stories about the couple together. Keep the stories short. You should be able to tell each one in 30 seconds or less. And make sure the story illustrates a trait about them in a positive way.

Celebrations

To Everyone’s Ears

How important is delivery, intonation, presence when giving "the speech"? How you deliver a speech is incredibly important! People often understand tone more than words so be sure to practice. Focus on your pace, eye-contact, and intonation.

Do you coach people on things like when to pause, hand gestures, etc.. as part of your service? Yes. I provide a video with public speaking tips once each speech or vow has been finalized. Some clients also choose to work with me on their delivery in more detail. In this case, we'll schedule additional video calls where they practice in front of me and I provide real-time feedback.

I'm guessing a lot of people that come to you are nervous about this spotlight they will have on them, are there things you do in your process that "loosen" them up?

Don't drink too much. The key really comes down to practicing. The more you practice, the more comfortable you'll feel with what you're saying. Plus, when you have a speech written that you feel confident about, it helps to not feel so nervous when it comes time to deliver it.

Is there "exercises" that someone can do pre "big day" to get them ready to deliver the best possible speech or vows?

Practice in front of someone you trust to give you

constructive feedback. Drink water to avoid that "dry mouth sound." And smile. Your voice sounds happier and more confident when you smile as you speak.

What are the most common descriptive words or combinations that are the biggest hit in a speech about a couple and to each other or "recipe"? What are the ingredients to a perfect wedding speech? Everything I write is custom so I don't rely on common phrases.

The best way to fill a

home with joy and peace is to have a husband and wife who are best friends - intimately, emotionally, and spiritually. “

5

Marks Of

A Strong Marriage.

1. Good communication 2. Selflessness 3. Spiritual depth 4. Intimacy 5. Intentionality

Good Communication:

Marriage should be the place where we can open up and be raw, real, and honest. Communication from the heart is one of the most beautiful things about being deeply connected to your spouse.

We want to be that safe place to express our dreams, desires, and doubts.. And hey we can do that verbally and non-verbally. Also remember to be an active listener and we believe touching your spouse as your talking creates a bond between you and removes a lot of miss understandings.

Selflessness:

Love isn’t self serving, but it is freely giving of ourselves to our partner. It takes discipline to learn selflessness and it’s not as much a marriage strategy as it is a transformation of your heart. Adore Magazine Volume 6

54

A

husband and wife who serve one another with selflessness are

creating an environment for Agape love to flow freely. We need to see our spouse through the eyes of the Creator, looking past all of the imperfections, and seeing them created in the image and likeness of God just as you are.

Spiritual Depth: A crucial part of being married is spiritual depth. This is often overlooked in favor of passion and pleasure, but is one of the most important things. The Bible refers to this as being equally “yoked”. In order to have a deep and bountiful marriage, it must be built on a firm foundation. Sure, you can be attracted to each other and have a lot in common, but being equally yoked in your beliefs will be the key that unlocks the fruitful blessings beyond the things of this world. There is nothing better than having a deep and insightful conversation about biblical things and weeping together as the Holy Spirit stirs both of your hearts to him. The Bible is our guidebook for the marriage covenant, with an overwhelming amount of scripture having marriage language woven into the text.

Intimacy: Here we go, the topic everyone wants to talk about! Physical intimacy is the great mystery of “two becoming one flesh”. This single area of our life is responsible for so much pleasure and so much pain. Our desire for intimacy will encourage us to do some pretty heroic things for our spouse, but it is also the area where we are tempted the most. If Satan can destroy the intimacy in the marriage, then he can take down the whole thing. The destruction of intimacy through pornography, infidelity, withholding, bitterness, anger, and neglect will certainly create a giant void in us. This is where the enemy will attack and where our fight should be fierce. Make sure your marriage bed is undefiled. If it did or does become defiled, there is a deep reason for that and it should be on the top of your priority list to restore the intimacy. We should thoroughly drink of the deep that God created us to enjoy with our spouse, and drink from it often!

Intentionality:

Photo Manifeesto Getty Images

The conscious act of being intentional and thinking ahead in your marriage will definitely be greatly appreciated. Being intentional shows thoughtfulness, desire, honor, adoration, and love. We all have a deep desire to know our spouse and be known by them. Intentionality showcases to our partner that we truly know who they are and what makes them feel appreciated. Think ahead and plan special dates, gifts, outings, and activities that are in line with your partner’s personality. They will feel loved and cherished while developing a deeper connection in your covenant marriage.

It Takes Practice

No one is ever done improving on how to love… Better.

O

ne the biggest challenges couples face is

communication.

In our previous issues you have seen a DAILY INTENT WORKSHEET that you can print and keep in your planner or screen shot and put on your phone to remind you what you can be grateful for and goal set for yourself daily. This time we are adding in a piece of that to relationships. It’s also fun to look back on these items and see how you have grown in yourself and in love in the course of a year.

B

ecause celebrating love and those we have

around us isn’t easy unless we feel like our cups are filled. This worksheet is for you and your partner to fill out weekly. Some couples forget to even ask these questions of their partner and before you know it you are getting snarky remarks or cant even remember the last time you ate a dinner together and talked about how you really feel.

having a great celebration. Restrictions are being lifted but what does that mean for getting together in groups for events and parties?

1)

Collection of Names, Addresses, Emails, and Phone Numbers of all of your guests prior to arrival. Sometimes you have to do this. Sometimes your guests may give this info on site at the event, meeting or party. Naturally if it’s close friends you email invites you will have this info.

2)

For a larger event or anything pertaining to business, a liability waiver signed upon entry by either you as the event host or each of your guests. Absolving the liability of the vendors if there is an outbreak at the event. This can happen two ways. The caterer, event planner, and venue will create one document for you to sign saying you assume liability. The other way it can happen is the individual vendor or venue will have liability for you or your guests to sign.

3)

Provide masks for your guests even if you asked them to bring one. People that are not vaccinated should wear masks per CDC guidelines. You may even post these guidelines at your event if it’s a more formal or business event.

4)

Rent, purchase, or make hand sanitizer stations and additional hand washing stations. - A station for home can be easily made from a water container with spout set on edge of bar table and bucket underneath with a soap pump, a paper towel holder, and trash can.

Saying “Yes” to the Wedding Gown Text & Photography by Keri Gaudreau Every woman has at one time or another in her life ; day dreamt of the day she marries her true love. She also has day dreamt of the Gown she is wearing when saying “I do” on her very special day. This is not just any dress… is the dress of all dresses, the gowns of all gowns…we are talking about the Gown for your Wedding DAY! Alright Brides! Let’s talk about how to say yes to your Wedding Gown in the ever changing world of shopping. This needs to be the “Grand Finale” of dresses that makes you feel like a Queen on your wedding day. Living in today's world and the current pandemic with COVID it has impacted not only brides yet the entire wedding industry. It has made the experience of traditional store front shopping difficult for brides as well as the guest attending.

There are 7 tips when beginning the search for your Wedding Gown 1.Going into shopping with an idea of what you like most will be extremely helpful… as well as having your bridal gown budget. Regardless if you are doing online or in store. 2.Spend some time online, looking at all sorts of dresses. All designers, lengths, styles, etc. so that when talking with consultants they can arrange a variety of gowns for you. 3.The shopping day should be memorable & fun. You only buy your dream gown one time. This is an event in itself. 4.Have a list of those you would like to come while your try-on different gowns 5.Eat something during or before 6.Embrace feeling like a Queen 7.HAVE FUN! Remember it should be an experience!

Saying Yes To The Wedding Gown

As a wedding photographer we are always amused by Bridal Gowns. I really loved the way Grace and Ivory started offering in home gown try on. This is so amazing for brides! After selecting the gowns, a bride would like to try-on they are delivered to the brides' doorstep. Not only can the bride try on more than one gown; it can be in the comfort of their own home or rented venue. This truly allows brides to take back the experience of saying yes to the dress with the intimacy! It protects the elderly generation…let's be honest we must all keep our grandma’s safe & what bride does not want her sweet granny at her gown try-ons. It also allows an opportunity to hire a photographer to capture the intimate moments saying yes to the dress. Dress shopping can take a long time, and you’ll be standing and moving for a lot of it, so be sure to eat something healthy and light before you begin. . if you are choosing to go into a store front call and check if the shop(s) you’ll be visiting allow snacks. Dress shopping shouldn’t be put to a stop.. The excitement to share with moms, friends, grandparents should still be nothing more than EXCITING!!! When it comes to saying yes to the dress don’t overwhelm or feel anxiety…feel excitement! And there you have it – everything you need to know on how to say ‘Yes’ to your ‘Wedding Gown’ Go forth and conquer Queen! Adore Magazine Volume 6
