I
t's been an eventful year for us at DT and for the country as a whole which saw several things happening at every stage. The government of India under Narendra Modi's leadership initiated a host of new things which set the growth on fire for a few things such as digital payments after the 'Demonetization' announcement. Though painful for everyone, this decision was a far cry and all of a sudden forced every Indian to think of paying via mobile or through cashless means. In our opinion, this decision may have caused ruckus in the market for a short time but is going to benefit the country in the long run. Furthermore, as India digitalizes rapidly, holistic approach to cyber security is a prerequisite to foster and sustain trust of all the stakeholders – consumers, businesses as well as government. Widespread, relentless, and sophisticated cyber-attacks against critical infrastructure including but not limited to government organizations are a great threat to national security and economy. With this background, cyber security ought to be part of the design architecture itself and not an afterthought. 'Digital India' would be half-realized without the proper cyber security framework. We have tried to raise this issue through DT Handbook and would raise this issue even in the future through all our platforms. DT Handbook have spoken to all stakeholders in the IT industry, taken their feedback, and pondered upon it. It is our endeavor to give you a holistic view of the IT industry for the year to come. This will your guide through the year helping you to sell in your desired markets and with desired partners. A host of industry features will help you to gauge into the hot issues which have impacted our country and which will impact our country in the coming months. We wish you all the success in the coming year.
T
hrough DT Handbook, it’s our effort to help you with the holistic, economic view of the IT industry. The idea is to set the tone and be partner in your planning for the future. The issue is a combination of the reflections of the past year and the predictions for the year ahead. My advice to the channel partners and the IT industry is that they better exploit the resources and opportunities around them. The economy has positive potential with a decent GDP growth rate since the last couple of years. Landmark events – GST and Demonetization – have manifested government’s intent to work for the National Building cause over the populist measures. While GST and Demonetization are opening up new business avenues, the IT industry needs to harness these opportunities with absolute focus and determination. I’m realistically optimistic that simplified tax norms, increased spending on social infrastructure, policy to boost “Make in India” are the key things that will trigger growth in all sectors including IT. With the new financial year gearing up, you can chalk out a well-thought plan and formulate a strategy to reach out to customers in all markets. Building a product is just one step; marketing a product is another and perhaps the most important. ‘Great products fail because of poor marketing whereas average products succeed with great marketing’ someone once said. I endorse these words as they fit your environment and situation. While you put your best in innovation and R&D, give your best to sell them.

TOP 10 WOMEN POWER Like most sectors, IT is also predominantly dominated by males. However, the picture is a little different than most other sectors. IT sector is relatively better positioned when it comes to hiring women who are doing all sorts of things which men can do. They are competing at all levels and have manifested their intelligence and leadership qualities. Despite this, most women give up midway for their household duties and other social things in Indian society. But there are those who are leading their way through everything and holding the top positions in Indian IT companies. Through this article, we want to salute such women who are holding leadership roles in top IT companies in the country. They are helping their organizations to wade through all kinds of problems and working in the direction of making them profitable. www.digitalterminal.in

CHANNEL ROADMAP ZIOX
Ziox Plans to Introduce 4G Smartphones Under 6K Ziox Mobiles is a relatively younger mobile company in India. The unique thing about Ziox is that it targets the niche segment with its affordable phones and smartphones. The company is trying to increase its products and tap more segments in the coming year. Here is an interview of Deepka Kabu, CEO, Ziox Mobiles. Ziox Mobiles has gone through an exhilarating transformation during the year 2016 and is aggressively growing in line with its dynamic business model. Ziox has launched around 8-10 3G smart phones in the year 2016 in the Indian markets which includes the leading Astra Zing+ and Astra NXT and before the year ends we have already have laid out a strategic plan to introduce around 2 to 3 new 4G Smartphones that will be unveiled in the month of December. How does the channel help you to reach out to your potential customers? What’s your channel strength?
Deepak Kabu CEO, Ziox Mobiles
What have been the key highlights of your company during the year 2016? The year 2016 has been a game changer for us. Ziox introduced several new smartphones and feature phones into the Indian market and was considered as one of the most innovative and fastest growing brands in the mobile category. We established our distribution network across Pan India that gave us a huge outreach into the Indian market and also during the year we established a wide branch office network and system integrators across the country.
TERMINAL YEAR BOOK 2017 80 DIGITAL 34 DIGITAL TERMINAL YEAR BOOK 2017
Ziox has worked hard to expand the offline distribution to cover width and breadth of mammoth nation by appointing 500+ distributors and the tally goes on. We are one of the fastest growing mobile phones brand in the country with a reach to 25000+ retail stores and counting. The brand has made sure that we have right mix of products at every price points and we have launched about 15-20 feature phones and 10-12 smart phones till now. What is your assurance for providing excellent service support to your customer? Our brand has around 600+ service centres across India to provide a comprehensive after sales service support to its customers. Ziox handsets also come with an assured 10 days service policy where if our consumers face any hardware issues we try to close it at a maximum of 10 days. Also, according to the policy if the issue is not resolved within that time period,
the handset is replaced by the company till the time the defect is solved. All these policies apply under the warranty period only. What’s your road map or strategy for the year 2017? We have already laid out a strategic plan to introduce around 4G smartphones within the price range of 6K. Also, we are diversifying further and will be launching mobile accessories, LED TVs and Air Purifiers to name a few. What is your current revenue? What is your projection for the year 2017? We plan to sell 3 million handsets by this financial year, around 300 crores of revenue. Our projection for the coming year would be gaining market share rapidly and we also intend to occupy 5% of markets share by financial year 2017-18. Do you think that Government of India’s ‘Make-inIndia’ programs are seeing the light of day? At what levels are you supporting these programs? Yes, Make in India and Digital India programs are very good initiatives by the Government. We totally support/believe in Make in India- as mentioned above we have our manufacturing facility in New Delhi and we also hold the capacity to roll out around 8 lakhs units per Month. Ziox is also planning to set up a manufacturing unit in Gangtok at an investment of about Rs 100 crore and in pipeline there is another unit in NCR region with capacity to roll out 1 million handsets per month.

Since GST has finally been passed by the central government, how will it affect your business and the economy? GST will give us wings to operate ourselves in all the parts of the country. What is your assurance for providing excellent service support to your customer? Making customers delighted is the ultimate objective for any brand. We are committed to make our customers delighted by giving uncompromised support and by going extra mile to them so that they can help us achieve our objectives.
