Epson Conducts Raids On Counterfeit Product Seller Across Delhi, Mumbai & Lucknow Market

About 603 ink bottles and 510 Ribbon Cartridges were seized along with other printing material to manufacture counterfeit Epson ink bottles. Epson has fought aggressively against the counterfeit ink business and has taken actions to curb the sale of counterfeit bottles and ribbon cartridges.

A spokesperson at Epson India, said, “Epson is proud of its commitment to protect the rights of its valued customers. The successful collaboration between Epson and the local police to stop the sale of counterfeit products reflects Epson’s commitment to rooting out this unethical business practice. It shows our commitment to ensure that customers continue to enjoy the quality and reliability Epson products are known for. We will continue to protect our intellectual property rights from those attempting to misuse our patented technology and trademarks.”

To curb the sale of counterfeit ink bottles, counterfeit ribbon cartridges and to protect the rights of its customers, Epson’s vigilance team and local police jointly conducted raids on sellers in Lucknow, Mumbai and New Delhi recently. The raids were a result of a swift and wellcoordinated action, conducted in October & November 2022. The parties involved in dealing with non-genuine Epson Ink bottles / Ribbon Cartridges were immediately arrested and charged under the prevailing

laws with counterfeiting and violating intellectual property rights. The joint raids were conducted in collaboration with Lucknow Police, Mumbai Police and Delhi Police and those involved in stocking and distribution of fake Epson Ink bottles were remanded to judicial custody. Among the products seized during the raids were finished and unfinished Ink bottles, cartridges, packaging material, and numerous sets of labels and holograms.

Epson regularly conducts raids to curb counterfeit sales. Seiko Epson Corporation will continue to support and collaborate with law enforcement agencies in such raids. The action of Epson’s vigilance team helps protect its interests, defends the business of its authorized dealers, and serves as a deterrent to counterfeit manufacturers and dealers. Non-genuine Inks can impair the performance and reliability of Epson products and the use of such counterfeit products invalidate the manufacturer’s warranty.

Addressing The Data Storage Challenges In Autonomous Mobility

2. Dashboard recorders: Dashcams provide vital intelligence to the police and insurance companies on accidents, especially in areas where CCTV coverage is limited. It also means data storage is becoming an increasingly important consideration in today’s vehicles. Dashcams can generate substantial data, making removable microSD™ and SD™ cards good storage solutions to save video recordings as this offers flexibility. Western Digital’s automotive grade SD cards are designed and optimized for the auto industry and offer reliability and performance.

3. Telematics and over-the-air: Automotive software is vital to this process as it communicates various environmental emergency alerts to information about a car’s health before an accident. Automotive software also requires constant updates, and telematics allows OEMs to update cars over-the-air (OTA) through wireless networks. Western Digital offers a data storage solution for Telematics wherein updates can be downloaded into iNAND embedded flash devices, which can then be added to other systems in the car for updates.

Cutting-edge AI-driven technologies have reimagined the possibilities of autonomous driving with a radical level of data intelligence and connectivity. Over 70% of cars are expected to be connected by 20252 in the global market, with one in four cars to have 5G connectivity. This means that now consumers are increasingly open to multiple levels of autonomy in their vehicles. Existing features like infotainment systems, automated braking, collision warnings, cruise control, and blind-spot vision in drivercontrolled cars already produce a massive data load.

As a result, there is a vast data storage challenge that needs to be solved before the automotive industry can leap into the idyllic autonomous driving future. This calls for an urgent reinvention of storage, network, and computing infrastructures that

seamlessly manage large swathes of data collected by a connected car.

Here are some data-intensive applications and the right storage solution options:

1. Navigation and infotainment: In this day and age, even standard features like navigation and infotainment have received a significant update, with systems now capable of controlling everything from mobile communications to vehicle setup and 3D navigation. Enhanced flash storage technology such as iNAND® storage devices are needed for superior reliability. This storage solution is designed to support data demands of the latest cutting-edge infotainment, navigation, HD mapping, V2V/ V2I communication, drive event recorders, and autonomous driving.

4. V2V/V2I communications: The Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) and Vehicleto-Infrastructure (V2I) communications power autonomous driving. This crucial piece of technology is essential in ensuring the prevention of accidents and a safe driving experience. Western Digital’s Universal Flash Storage (UFS) storage technology is designed to operate in-vehicle and infrastructure environments that constantly generate and stream data for immediate and offline data analytics. It delivers highperformance data transmission in even the most extreme environmental conditions.

It is exciting to see storage technologies driving innovation for mobility. As we advance driving capacity and performance capabilities data storage and management will be at the forefront of automotive development.

“We See Sound Solutions A 500 Cr Company by 2025”

The Indian IT distribution market is thriving well and has immense growth opportunities for distribution houses. Sound Solutions has performed really well in recent years and has cemented its position in the western market. Today, Sound Solutions is growing well and keeping the growth momentum high with its continuous efforts. It is one of the leading IT partners in Maharashtra and covers a big market for PCs and other IT solutions products. It has all leading tech brands on board and serving the huge customers demand. Rajeev Ranjan, Editor, Digital Terminal recently spoke to Sunil Thariani, Director, Sound Solutions. He talked about their growth, market landscape, opportunities, challenges, vision and much more. Read the excerpt below:

Rajeev: How has been the revenue growth for Sound Solutions in last 2-3 years? What kind of growth have you observed for your company in recent years?

Sunil: Sound Solutions is one of the fastest growing distribution houses and has been at the forefront of the competitive market landscape. In last 2-3 years, we have seen a remarkable growth which is attributed to our tireless efforts. Our target has been to keep contributing to our brands with which we are associated. In the last few years, our growth trajectory has been phenomenal and we are quite satisfied with it. In the FY 2019 - 20, Sound solutions clocked 50 Cr turnover only in channel business and service centre of Epson and Acer. Whereas, in FY 2020 – 21, we clocked 100 Cr turnover out of which channel was 55 Cr and new business corporate was 45 Cr. Even in the previous financial year 2021- 22, the turnover was 210 Cr out of which channel contributed 70 Cr, corporate contributed 65 Cr, online Amazon contributed 30 Cr and Government business Gem was 45 Cr. While in the service centre space, we grew by 20% year on year. Overall, our business has grown exponentially and we expect to continue this momentum in this financial year as well.

Rajeev: What are the key factors that have contributed to such a remarkable success?

Sunil: We are growing at a good pace and there are a lot of aspects that have contributed to our growth. our objective is to further accelerate the growth wheel in coming time. Starting Government business through GEM and online business through Amazon seller flex has helped us in taking the lead. Our engagement with AMD has majorly helped us in fuelling the GeM business. Earlier we were only selling Acer brand in 2019 but now we are focusing on all 4 PC brands including Acer, Dell, HP and Lenovo. Our extreme efforts in

identifying the opportunities and taking advantage of the market scenario help us in driving good business.

Rajeev: Which key brands do you serve currently and what are your commitments/support for these brands? What is your vision in terms of developing the partnership in coming years?

Sunil: We are currently working with all 4 leading PC brands which includes HP, Dell, Lenovo and Acer. We offer all product line laptops, desktops, display and All in one. Our commitment for these PC brands is to help them improve their market share and reach out to a large customer base. We work with hands in hands with them to cater to the everincreasing demand. Our efficiency in understanding the business landscape and customer interest makes us the most preferred IT partner.

From here, our vision is to build our reach and tap the new opportunities exist in the market. The market is quite big and opportunities are immense so our focus is clear and that is serving the customers with full potential.

Rajeev: Please tell about your operations across Maharashtra. How much partners do you work with and what are your plans regarding enhancing the partner network?

Sunil: In Maharashtra, our base is quite strong and we are relentlessly trying to further strengthen the grip in terms of connecting to more partners. We are currently billing to 380 partners across Maharashtra and our target is to increase this number to 500 by end of December 2022. As soon as we increase our partner network, we will be able to capitalize the immense growth opportunities and that is

what we are looking for. We have offices in Sion, Lamington Road, Vashi, Thane and Bhiwandi. So with this kind of strength, we are growing good in Maharashtra.

Rajeev: Can you shed some light on the challenges for distribution houses? Is there any advice or suggestion for brands or Government for a better business environment?

Sunil: The biggest challenge is price war. Mumbai as the Commercial city is very costly on everything, example Rent, employee salaries, transportation and many others factors. Where B and C cities are having benefit so they usually sell their products in Mumbai market. Due to which prices in Mumbai market are very aggressive which disturbs Mumbai market. But we have no solution to this as after GST implementation this will happen. Now we need to control our expenses to fight with B and C cities players.

Rajeev: Where do you see Sound Solutions by 2025? Do you have any plans to launch your online portal for further scaling your business?

Sunil: We see sound solutions a 500 Cr company by 2025 as Gem and corporate are really growing very fast. Our targeted growth is in line with our objective of becoming the biggest IT distributor in Maharashtra. We aim to further push our limits and lead the market. Currently we don’t have any plans of launching online portal. We started our sales at Flipkart from October 2022 while earlier we were only active on Amazon portal.

Polycab Telecom: On Its Way to Fulfil Digital Hopes and Aspirations of Millions in Tamilnadu

Digital flow of information has stirred fundamental change in living and working world-over. We live in a networked era now. Internet and IoT-based evolutions have made a positive impact on business, education, healthcare and governmental services. Therefore, elimination of digital divide becomes the core for India as a nation to go wholly Digital. Digital India is a great initiative, undertaken by the Government of India with a vision to transform our nation into

India Ltd., has made a bedrock of internet-connectivity & high-speed data-availability for future digital services for the local people, driving rural empowerment and revolutionized lives there. We’ve laid more than 20,000 kms and connected more than 4,775 Gram Panchayats (GPs) in Gujarat and Bihar, executing End-to-End Network Roll-out for Phase-II of BharatNet, world’s largest rural broadband project.

We’ve already embarked upon one more project under BharatNet Phase-II. BharatNet Project has to be implemented in Tamil Nadu through a State-led model and a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) namely, Tamil Nadu FibreNet Corporation Limited ituted arted to em Integrator for TANFINET lately, to implement the BharatNet Phase-II project in ricts, demarcated under Package A in Tamil Nadu.

implementation of the entire project has been divided into four packages, i.e. A, B, C and D, with the

recruitment of a Master System Integrator for the Package A and System Integrator for each of the other packages, i.e. B, C and D. As per the agreement, we’ve got to provide endto-end connectivity with high-speed bandwidth using Optical Fibre Cables in 3,095 GPs in 75 Blocks across 9 districts of Tamil Nadu under Package A. Our scope of work involves sitesurvey, design, fiber-laying, integration, commissioning and O&M to enable Gram Panchayats in the delineated districts with a minimum scalable bandwidth of 1Gbps.

The delineated districts in the state under the Package A are: Chengalpattu, Kancheeipuram, Tiruvannamalai, Tiruvallur, Vellore, Krishnagiri, Ranipet, Tirupattur and Chennai. We would be laying around 13,500 Fibre kms, with almost 85% being overhead and the rest underground, as mandated by the TANFINET. We’ll be rolling out the fibrenetwork in all the delineated districts with IP-MPLS (Internet Protocol/MultiProtocol Label Switching) Electronics, a network support that uses the IP Protocol, augmented with MPLSrouting.

An integral facet of our responsibility is to set up the State NOC (Network Operations Centre) at Chennai to integrate all the GPs under the project, including the GPs under other Packages, i.e. B, C and D. So summarily, Polycab Telecom would play an instrumental role in the execution of all the packages under the project, by being involved in continuous monitoring of the performance and efficiency of the entire network in BharatNet Phase-II in Tamil Nadu.

“Cloud Adoption in India Is Happening At A Fascinating Rate”

Amidst the ever increasing compe veness in the market, organiza ons are focusing on increasing their agility and improving customer experience. It helps organiza ons to grow faster and take lead upon their counterparts. In line with this, the organiza ons across all sectors are migra ng to cloud solu ons and experiencing increased efficiency. In the last few years, the cloud ecosystem has significantly grown in India. Businesses are transforming their opera ons with cloud and aiming at robust growth in days to come. However, there are s ll some challenges related to migra ng to cloud that organiza ons face very o en. Companies like AWS have helped such organiza ons in managing their workloads via cloud. In a recently held interac on, Rajeev Ranjan, Editor, Digital Terminal discussed crucial aspects of the cloud with Murat Yanar, Managing Director, Migra on Workloads and Founda onal Services, Amazon Web Services Worldwide Specialist Organiza on. Read below the excerpts below:

Rajeev: How do you see the role of cloud for any business in this compe ve world?

Murat: It has become necessary for organisa ons globally to undergo digital transforma on to sustain their growth. One of the biggest pillars of enabling digital transforma on is the cloud. A Gartner report has forecasted that the spending on public cloud services will reach $495 billion in 2022. Migra ng and modernising in the cloud allows customers to innovate faster because they can focus highly valuable IT resources on developing applica ons that differen ate their business and transform their customer experiences.

AWS is at the forefront of this transforma on. For example, we have enabled Axis Bank to deploy over 25 mission-cri cal applica ons on AWS. Axis Bank plans to migrate 70% of its on-premises data centre infrastructure to the cloud. This will improve agility, reduce cost, and enhance customer experience. Since the implementa on of SAP on AWS, L&T IDPL has seen significant produc vity improvements with the integra on of its mul ple systems, thanks to the con nuous, automated data monitoring and real me visibility of transac onal data. L&T IDPL can now implement system or infrastructure changes, or new requirements in less than 3 days, compared to 7-14 days or longer before. This has allowed L&T IDPL to quickly adapt to evolving regula ons and technological advancements. Cloud has thus become integral in offering compe ve and customer-oriented solu ons for a digital age.

Rajeev: What are the key fuelling factors which helped this market to grow in India in recent mes?

Murat: Cloud adop on in India is happening at a fascina ng rate. We have seen four common threads across business which have propelled cloud growth in India. The first is that there is a clear realiza on across enterprises, digital na ve businesses, SMBs and startups that those who were thinking deeply about cloud technology prepandemic have emerged stronger in the last couple of years because they can rapidly scale resources up and down as needed, which also reduces business cost, and improves their ability to meet customer demands. The second is that digital is no longer op onal, it is essen al for survival and a cri cal channel for businesses to reach their customers. Customers want to automate their digital journeys, digi ze their channels, and make sure their processes are automated internally so that their employees can access them and be produc ve. Third, the speed at which our customers are

moving is quite unlike anything seen before. Digital roadmaps that used to be built in months or years are now being built and delivered in days and weeks. This is happening because of the accelerated shi in consumer behaviour towards digital channels. From households to entertainment in India, there is a 10 to 50% up ck in digital channel adop on, which has significant implica ons for businesses and cloud adop on.

Furthermore, companies have begun to understand the value of data to make be er decisions, respond be er to the unexpected, enhance the customer experience, uncover new opportuni es, and improve efficiency. A great example of a data-driven organiza on is DTDC who have deployed applica ons like SAP Billing and Revenue Innova on Management (SAP BRIM) and SAP ECC, today have implemented an automated revenue recogni on model using Amazon Redshi snapshots to streamline month-end closing. DTDC recently engaged the AWS Data Lab to evaluate its architecture to scale cost-effec vely.

Rajeev: What are the key challenges related to cloud migra on?

Murat: The biggest challenges for large organiza ons to move to the cloud can be categorized as either technical or cultural. On the technical side, modernizing legacy applica ons to drive changes is a non-trivial task, that can take years. The lock into legacy license contracts o en constrains the ability to unlock innova on and move rapidly. AWS helps companies modernize their legacy applica ons, and in the process reduce the costs and remove constraints due to legacy license contracts.

On the people and culture side, four key changes are cri cal to address the obstacles.

• First, the senior leadership team needs to be aligned towards why they must move to the cloud and need to set clear direc ons and expecta ons for the rest of the organiza on.

• Second, bringing in people who are builders by nature and are willing to challenge the status quo are cri cal.

• Third, it is important to equip them with the right tools and training and give them the freedom to build, and innovate.

• Fourth, it is vital to have a feedback loop to be data driven by measuring the impact, and repor ng back to the leadership and course correc ng where required.

At AWS, we enable customers to overcome these challenges and successfully migrate to the cloud. In the case of Tata CLiQ, SAP enterprise resource planning (ERP) applica ons were among the first workloads migrated to AWS. For its customer care opera ons, the company uses SAP ECC, which is integrated with the Tata CLiQ marketplace. The opera on also relies on SAP hybris as a missioncri cal component. Before migra ng to AWS, Tata CLiQ faced teething challenges in ensuring sufficient capacity of its SAP hybris nodes to handle peak traffic during sale periods. Its Oracle Real Applica on Cluster (RAC), which stores more than 30 TB of data, was also subject to frequent down me. Now the business uses Amazon Rela onal Database Service (Amazon RDS) for Oracle and SAP on AWS, both of which feature automa on tooling to scale on demand. It’s really important that organiza ons are trained on the cloud and comfortable with the concepts as part of the whole process. We train hundreds of thousands of people a year for that purpose.

Rajeev: How do you sell your solu ons in India? Please explain about your distribu on model and current channel network strength for Indian market.

Murat: Partners are the force mul plier to accelerate cloud transforma on in India. AWS has a wide and engaged cloud partner ecosystem in India who are building future-ready companies in India by helping businesses adapt and modernize for the cloud, expedite digital transforma on, and solve complex business challenges.

We provide our customers the widest selec on of consul ng partners and so ware products, and independent so ware vendors. We start with the customer first, then work backwards from their needs to design our strategies to enable AWS Partners to deliver high-quality AWS solu ons and services to joint customers. For example, AWS has worked closely with WorkApps to help Indian banks and financial services providers drive remote customer engagement and verifica on through their Video KYC solu on. AWS supported WorkApps to enable reduc on of cost and me by 90% while enabling scaling up of customer engagements to a million monthly customer verifica ons. AWS and WorkApps jointly have created and secured deals across 10 Indian banks and financial services firms in 2020 and are doing about 1 million KYCs a month in India today.

a blueprint for ensuring everything that connects to an enterprise is known and trusted. Companies should thus consider Zero Trust as a strategic imperative to prevent and protect against cybersecurity threats. It is a necessary component of digital transformation, which enables companies to transfer critical processes online and create new forms of interorganizational connection,” said, Mr. Ripu Bajwa, Director and General Manager, Data Protection Solutions, Dell Technologies India.

IBM Study Reveals 77% of Cybersecurity Responders in India Face Extreme Mental Strain

IBM Security recently announced the results of a global survey that examines the critical role of cybersecurity incident responders at a time when the physical and digital worlds are increasingly converging. The study, released during National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, found that incident responders surveyed – the frontline responders to cyberattacks – are primarily driven by a strong sense of duty to protect others; a responsibility that’s increasingly

challenged by the surge of disruptive attacks, from the proliferation of ransomware attacks to the recent rise of wiper malware.

Organizations that are essential to the global economy, supply chains and the movement of goods have become prime targets for disruptive attacks. In 2021 IBM Security X-Force observed cyberattacks against energy companies quadrupling from the year prior, while

manufacturers saw more ransomware attacks than any other industry – from food manufacturers to medical devices, cars and steel manufacturers. As cyberattacks threaten essential services to our daily needs, incident responders in these industries are faced with more pressure to defend the digital front line. In fact, 94% of respondents in India stated that the rise of ransomware has exacerbated the psychological demands associated to cybersecurity incidents.

ENTERPRISE FOCUS NOVEMBER 2022 I 18 www.digitalterminal.in

Ransomware Remains One of The Greatest Cybercrime Threats to Organizations: Sophos

component of cybercrime is impacting the threat landscape and opening up opportunities for any type of attacker with any type of skill level.”

Sophos published its 2023 Threat Report. The report details how the cyberthreat landscape has reached a new level of commercialization and convenience for would-be attackers, with nearly all barriers to entry for committing cybercrime removed through the expansion of cybercrime-as-a-service. The report also addresses how ransomware remains one of the greatest cybercrime threats to organizations with operators innovating their extortion tactics, as well as how demand for stolen credentials continues to grow.

Criminal underground marketplaces like Genesis have long made it possible to buy malware and malware deployment services (“malware-as-a-service"), as well as to sell stolen credentials and other data in bulk. Over the last decade, with the increasing popularity of ransomware, an entire “ransomware-as-a-service" economy sprung up. Now, in 2022, this “as-a-service" model has expanded, and nearly every aspect of the cybercrime toolkit—from initial infection to ways to avoid detection—is available for purchase.

“This isn’t just the usual fare, such as malware, scamming and phishing kits for sale,” said Sean Gallagher, principal threat researcher, Sophos. “Higher rung cybercriminals are now selling tools and capabilities that once were solely in the hands of some of the most sophisticated attackers as services to other actors. For example, this past year, we saw advertisements for OPSEC-as-a-service where the sellers offered to help attackers hide Cobalt Strike infections, and we saw scanning-a-service, which gives buyers access to legitimate commercial tools like Metasploit, so that they can find and then exploit vulnerabilities. The commoditization of nearly every

With the expansion of the “as-a-service" economy, underground cybercriminal marketplaces are also becoming increasingly commodified and are operating like mainstream businesses. Cybercrime sellers are not just advertising their services but are also listing job offers to recruit attackers with distinct skills. Some marketplaces now have dedicated help-wanted pages and recruiting staff, while job seekers are posting summaries of their skills and qualifications.

“Early ransomware operators were rather limited in how much they could do because their operations were centralized; group members were carrying out every aspect of an attack. But as ransomware became hugely profitable, they looked for ways to scale their productions. So, they began outsourcing parts of their operations, creating an entire infrastructure to support ransomware. Now, other cybercriminals have taken a cue from the success of this infrastructure and are following suit,” said Gallagher.

Indeed, as the cybercrime infrastructure has expanded, ransomware has remained highly popular—and highly profitable. Over the past year, ransomware operators have worked on expanding their potential attack service by targeting platforms other than Windows while also adopting new languages like Rust and Go to avoid detection. Some groups, most notably Lockbit 3.0, have been diversifying their operations and creating more “innovative” ways to extort victims.

“When we talk about the growing sophistication of the criminal underground, this extends to the world of ransomware. For example, Lockbit 3.0 is now offering bug bounty programs for its malware and ‘crowd-sourcing’ ideas to improve its operations from the criminal community. Other groups have moved to a ‘subscription model’ for access to their leak data and others are auctioning it off. Ransomware has become, first and foremost, a business,” said Gallagher.

The evolving economics of the underground has not only incentivized the growth of ransomware and the “asa-service" industry, but also increased the demand for credential theft. With the expansion of web services, various types of credentials, especially cookies, can be used in numerous ways to gain a deeper foothold in networks, even bypassing MFA. Credential theft also remains one of the easiest ways for novice criminals to gain access to underground marketplaces and begin their “career.”

Sophos also analyzed the following trends:

• The war in Ukraine had global repercussions for the cyberthreat landscape. Immediately following the invasion, there was an explosion of financially motivated scams, while nationalism led to a shake-up of criminal alliances between Ukrainians and Russians, particularly among ransomware affiliates

• Criminals continue to exploit legitimate executables and utilize “living off the land binaries” (LOLBins) to launch various types of attacks, including ransomware. In some cases, attackers deploy legitimate but vulnerable system drivers in “bring your own driver” attacks to attempt to shut down endpoint detection and response products to evade detection.

• Mobile devices are now at the center of new types of cybercrimes. Not only are attackers still using fake applications to deliver malware injectors, spyware and banking-associated malware, but newer forms of cyberfraud have been growing in popularity, such as “pig butchering” schemes. And this crime is no longer just affecting Android users, but iOS users as well.

• The devaluation of Monero, one of the most popular cryptocurrencies for cryptominers, led to a decrease in one of the oldest and most popular types of cryptocrime—cryptomining. But mining malware continues to spread through automated “bots” on both Windows and Linux systems.

CYBER SECURITY NOVEMBER 2022 I 19 www.digitalterminal.in

According to various es ma ons, the demand for informa on security professionals is on the rise, and it won’t decrease in the future. A acks and data leaks happen every day, forcing more companies to look closely at the benefits of providing high-level informa on security across their company, and hiring IT specialists accordingly. With this bright career path available to young professionals, cybersecurity is one of the fastest-growing IT industry sectors.

However, such a mul faceted sector can also be confusing for newcomers. In this ar cle, we summarized the Kaspersky recruitment team’s observa ons and sta s cs regarding the current state of the informa onal security job market and the most sought-a er professions in this sphere.

Recent cybersecurity profession trends

Over the last three years, Kaspersky has seen an increase in demand for business and informa on security posi ons such as presales managers, business development managers, and product managers.

This tendency can be a ributed to the introduc on of new laws, requirements, and regula ons requiring corporates to create products and services that meet the increased demand for informa on security. The trend has led to a growing need for complex MSSP services, all of which need to be accurately developed, packaged, and posi oned for the market.

Speaking of technical roles, our internal recruitment stats confirm that security opera ons center (SOC), penetra on tes ng and applica on security specialists, as well as vulnerability researchers, remain among the most sought-a er professionals for three years in a row. In addi on, since DevSecOps processes have recently been ac vely implemented in cybersec, there are few relevant specialists in this field. With 70% of organiza ons lacking an adequate working knowledge of DevSecOps prac ces, this area of business is also in great demand.

Working In Cybersecurity: Careers And Recruitment 2022

By analyzing applicants, the majority of applica ons we receive are for the administra on of informa on protec on systems, IT compliance (privacy), and management posi ons. This also means job seekers in these fields face s ff compe on for more candidates.

Where do high-demand specialists come from?

One of the most obvious sources for specialists is universi es producing cybersecurity professionals. And, as Kaspersky internal sta s cs show, most of our employees have specialist higher educa on. However, for us, a diploma from a par cular university is never a decisive factor in hiring, especially given that universi es are unable to meet the increased demand for these professionals.

Experience is always the main focus, and there are many ways to obtain it even without going to university. For example, we are welcoming people who started their career as an IT generalist, but at some point, handled informa on security tasks and moved to a related posi on.

Another good way to move to cybersecurity is to complete an internship. Today there are a huge number of internship programs conducted by commercial companies for students. Our recruiters have observed an increase in correspondence related to a growing demand for IS professions.

A great example of this is our Safeboard program, where we look for and support a new genera on of young and perspec ve cybersecurity professionals. A er a successful internship, newcomers join our team or stand a be er chance of finding employment with other companies.

Where to start to get the dream job?

For both technical and business roles in informa on security, IT educa on is a good way of gaining support and learning because many posi ons (such as SOC analyst) require a deep knowledge of IT infrastructure.

Online courses are also an op on, but, as the prac ce shows, they must be complemented by high personal mo va on and addi onal self-educa on ac vi es:

“I used various sources, such as courses or books, which are more likely to help you understand the sequence of studying topics and obtaining a basis for further self-study,” says Konstan n Korobanov, who went from being a food technologist in a factory to a senior developer posi on at Kaspersky. “As an

IT beginner, it is a big advantage to create an account on GitHub (or any similar resource) and solve basic but specific tasks in the first stages of educa on. These tasks can be easily found on the Internet and a er gaining a broad knowledge, you can try to use them in realizing your project or par cipate in improving open-source projects.”

Kaspersky offers a range of courses sui ng different experience levels, which are also helpful for gaining specific skills that help deepen your field exper se. For example, our online cybersecurity training for experts is useful for those already working in cybersecurity who want to advance to the next level in such areas as incident response, threat hun ng, malware analysis, and others. To check out your skillset you can take part in relevant compe ons, such as CTF (Capture the Flag) or others, where par cipants solve close-to-life cybersecurity cases.

To gain experience in cybersecurity, crucial for both technical and business-related posi ons in this field, we suggest students join internship programs, while people already working in IT or related fields can try to get relevant background experience by taking on informa on security tasks in their workplace. For IT project managers we advise they par cipate in projects ed to cybersecurity services or product implementa on.

Timofey Vorontsov, business process manager at Kaspersky confirms that the relevant background for working in IT security can be gained in posi ons that superficially don’t have much in common with this sphere: “Working as an avia on design engineer in my previous role, I had to constantly explore various interna onal technical standards, interfaces and requirements including security ones. Every aspect of my work was interes ng to me, but I wanted to see the big picture. I constantly took over new tasks, including par cipa on in tes ng, coding, project management, and others. All this gave me new skills and knowledge allowing me to pursue my career in the interface between business and IT security”.

The path to cybersecurity for IT generalists can begin by handling an IT security func on, which usually doesn’t require deep knowledge when it comes to small companies - easier if the company uses a product that goes with the educa on of IT generalists in the kit.

As you can see, there are many ways to enter the world of cybersecurity. A person with the relevant knowledge and skills, supplemented with interests in the profession and selfmo va on has a greater chance of finding their dream job in this field and will build a successful career.

Kingston Named As Leader In Channel SSD Shipments In 2021

2021. According to TrendForce, Kingston accounted for a massive 26 percent of the 127 million units shipped in 2021.

Kingston Technology announced TrendForce has named it as the number one third-party supplier of SSDs in the channel for all of

Although the pandemic continued to disrupt the supply of SSD related components in 2021, shipments through global distribution channels saw an annual growth rate of 11%. While production demand increased, shipment volume was affected when wafer supply was too limited to meet order lead time. In response, Kingston adopted a flexible supply strategy along with global sourcing. The company was well ahead of its competitors considering a global pandemic and chip shortage. The results reinforced Kingston as the clear leader in SSD production, as the second-place supplier accounted for only 8 percent of the total channel market.

CORSAIR On Boards Acro Engineering As Its National Distributor In India

Growing demand for gaming SSDs with PCIe 4.0 NVMe continues to define the market landscape pushing module houses to steadily shift from SATA to PCIe. TrendForce predicts providing upgrades will likely enhance brand recognition and continue to boost shipments. Rajeev: How can Salesforce support the manufacturers in overcoming these challenges? How do you see the role of Salesforce in helping the manufacturing industry to accelerate digital transforma on?

Rajkumar: Manufacturers must navigate greater complexity than ever before and the disjointed, manual systems of the past won’t work in a 21st century economy. Leading manufacturers are already capturing, integra ng, and analyzing data from across their organiza ons to drive be er business outcomes.

Gobain Glass saw a 2x increase in sales mee ngs recorded on Salesforce.

Increased adop on of technology such as cloud compu ng, robo c process automa on, lowcode development, and others are driving this digital revolu on, giving manufacturers endless opportuni es to explore new solu ons.

Rajeev: What are the major challenges for the manufacturing industry in a post-pandemic world?

Rajkumar: The manufacturing sector in India has tremendous growth poten al. A strong domes c market, a large pool of engineers, billions of dollars in foreign direct investments, and suppor ve government policies like ‘Make in India’ and Product Linked Incen ves (PLIs) are set to transform the country into a global manufacturing powerhouse. In fact, WEF es mates that India’s manufacturing sector EE could contribute $500 billion in annual economic impact by 2030.

However, to get there, manufacturers will need to up their game, not just on the shop floor but also on the front lines in terms of customer requirements. It’s no longer enough to simply make a great product. Product differen a on alone is no longer the compelling enough customer value proposi on that it used to be. Manufacturers need to combine their smart and innova ve products and solu ons with the intelligent experiences that customers are demanding across the product purchase through ownership and usage lifecycle. Addi onally, manufacturers also need to bring focus to their Commercial Excellence opera ons that encompass op mised sales processes, ability to accurately forecast demand, collaborate seamlessly with channel partners, drive efficient inventory management, supply chain improvements, and build business agility to respond rapidly to market shi s.

Changing or naviga ng new business models, making opera onal adjustments to accommodate radically changing demands and keeping up with increased compe on in the

Salesforce Manufacturing Cloud, is designed for manufacturers to unify account planning and forecas ng for greater transparency and collabora on across their en re ecosystem. This unified view provides a clear picture of manufacturing customers through new sales agreements and account-based forecas ng solu ons that enable them to accurately forecast, plan, and drive predictable (and be er) business outcomes. Manufacturing Cloud is a key component of Salesforce Customer 360, which empowers manufacturers to deliver intelligent field services, lifecycle marke ng, channel management, B2B Commerce, and more, in a unified view, across their en re business.

Gemini Power Hydraulics today has unified customer and product data in a single source of truth which helps them get the best out of every customer interac on. They’ve also automated sales and service processes, leading to a 60% increase in sales team produc vity, 10% reduc on in sales cycles, and 10% boost in service team produc vity.

Some of the key upcoming trends which are pivotal to the manufacturing sector are centred around IIoT, 5G, Metaverse and Net Zero sustainability.

• Metaverse: As we explore the future of metaverse and its impact across industries, more opportuni es will arise for manufacturers in terms of enhanced product design, streamlined produc ons and augmen ng human abili es on assembly lines by leveraging reality technologies such as augmented and virtual reality.

• Edge compu ng & 5G: Manufacturers today can create a private 5G network on their premises which will give them super-fast data speeds without the need for cables and much-improved data security. This also enables manufacturers to seamlessly connect their IIoT technology and leverage the data collec on and data processing within devices such as smart machines and sensors

Meanwhile, Penna Cement has empowered all sales officers with a consolidated customer view on their Salesforce mobile app. This helps them close more deals faster. The company also runs a dealer loyalty scheme program on Salesforce which helps them incen vise and reward dealers, masons, and other influencers who help drive sales. Ini a ves like these have resulted in a 15% increase in sales volumes, 21% increase in opera onal efficiency, and 15% growth in dealer and influencer networks. In addi on, Unimark increased service team produc vity by 25% while reducing billing cycles by 15 days and Saint-

• Sustainability: The pressure on manufacturers to deliver products at scale is inevitably impac ng the environment. The “take-makewaste” model, which relies on fossil fuels, overproduc on, and excessive waste is one of the major contributors to the carbon emissions. However, manufacturers are turning to a circular economy, a sustainable model that op mises efficiency at every produc on stage. Recycling, refurbishing, and remanufacturing processes are applied to each stage of manufacturing to reduce waste and cut costs, thus diminishing a company’s carbon footprint. Net Zero Cloud, for instance, allows organisa ons to go carbon-neutral faster through Customer 360 solu ons. Datadriven insights allow users to take meaningful ac on both on a day-to-day and long-term basis, whether through tracking emissions or finding clear methods of increasing energy efficiency. The pla orm also facilitates carbon accoun ng audits in weeks instead of months.
