A project done during Pandemic (CoVid-19)

Escaping

The Boredom and mental confinement. I did this Internship under Anuj Sharma - Owner of Button Masala. It was my honor and great pleasure to work under him and learn this technique. It is a simple joinery system, which replaces sewing from the clothing or home furnishing. The technique involves only buttons and rubber bands. It is pretty much like tie and dye technique but done with rubber bands. Button masala is a very quick construction method, possibly the cheapest in the world and the greenest for the environment. Each product can be recycled and restructured by simply removing the buttons and putting them in another place.

So here is the work from my Summer Internship 2020.

Balance May it be our life or our body nothing can sustain with out it. Draping exploration with two different shades and mostly geometrically bilateral. Learning and Exploring with basics, so that beauty of breaking can be further explored. Starting with 2 pieces of fabric with same pattern in button masala joined to make different products all together like - Top, Hijab, Dress, Cape.

Something Borrowed Used Button Masala to revive My Mom’s kurta. It not only transfers her warmth but make me feel as part of her own-self.

xqyko The long trail of cloth, one straight single length, no zip, no stitches yet oozes vigor and strength combined with bangles and held together by rubber bands - this piece of clothing does not have one form but infinite number of avatar.

It didn’t only preserve all the love and labor went in making of this Saree but also the memories and warmth related to it.

Buy less, Choose well, Make - Remake it - Do it yourself is Ideology of this technique & the brand. A beautiful sustainable concept of with the cheapest technique to make clothing with almost 0 waste. This project does not only provide you a

Fresh Gaze

To your life and way of solving problems but towards

your own body image because the fabric doesn’t have constrain of stitches but has freedom with gathers which gives it liability to flow with you. The biggest Learning is to manage with what we have and design is an ability to do things within what we have.
