Merrill J. Fernando was born on 6th May, 1930 to a middle class, rural family in the village of Pallansena. With invincible faith, passion, and dedication he pursued his quest for a better deal for producers and worked till the age of 91. He was laid to rest in Pallansena after he returned to the arms of his beloved Lord on 20th July, 2023. He leaves an unprecedented legacy of kindness that will continue through generations.
As a family business, we have a different perspective on tea. Three Generations of the Dilmah Family come together, committing to consistently serve the highest quality, innovative teas with the aim of growing consumption of tea as well as a healthy lifestyle amongst consumers.

Fresh from Ceylon’s Tea Gardens.
Interspersed with waterfalls, rising mountain tops and natural beauty that the island formerly known as Serendib is bestowed with, rises the heart of Sri Lanka’s tea country. Cultivated over centuries, these gardens gave the island (then Ceylon), its firm place in the hearts of tea drinkers around the world for that delicious brew unmatched in taste and variety – Ceylon Tea.

Tea is uniquely rich in natural antioxidant goodness
Scientific research confirms what Asians believed for centuries – that white, green, oolong and black tea contain powerful natural antioxidants which may protect regular tea drinkers from many degenerative diseases. The main degenerative diseases of concern today are heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke, cancer and diabetes. Studies suggest that the antioxidant activity of flavonoids in tea may reduce the risk of many degenerative diseases and help maintain good oral health.

The smallest of tea grades is so small as to resemble actual dust. A good dust should be grainy, free from fibre and grit. Usually makes for the strongest brew and flavor, although lacking subtlety.
A true natural BOP should consist of only that leaf broken up in the rollers which passes through a No.10 mesh.
