01. Spiritual Sanctuary Competition Entry for Miniatur Undip Group Project (2nd Place) - 2017

This project was a respond to the competition brief that challenges to predict the condition and problems in society 50 years ahead, and how moslem’s worship place will stand to the condition predicted.

COMPETITION BRIEF “Indonesia is a country with the biggest moslem population in the world. This is the main reason of massive mosque growth throughout the country. Even so, most of it is not being responded with responsive design to the common issues. A worship place - an embodiment of architecture that connects individuals to their Almighty, is appointed as the design typology in this competition. The journey of mosque architecture itself is quite long, physically it has a lot of change as a respond to the society. Nevertheless, salat as the worshiping activity itself will remains still. MINIATUR 2017 challenges all the participant to predict the condition or issues that occures 50 years ahead, and how the needs of worshiping space for moslems will stand to conditions predicted.

SCENARIO & ARGUMENT

2017

2025

2035 2050

50 years from now, our society will live in a fast-paced world, where people become more productive and social engaging is increasing. People need something to break the pace, with slow-paced period (resting, sleeping, entertaining, peacefulness). The use of technology to reach slow pace is slowly making people feel inhuman, as it happens unnaturally.

Balancing Needs

Fast Pace

Slow Pace Self Ritual

Socializing Meditating and self-reflecting Resting Perform ritual to God all without dependency to technology

PROGRAM Process from fast to slow pace may differ. One may take a transition (by socializing with others) before having a ritual of spirituality. Others may take it straight to self ritual stage to seek peacefulness by cleansing itself and perform the ritual. Activity may be continued by take a rest to prepare itself back to the fast-paced world.

Mosque as the oasis, acting as a healing spot for people to fulfill their needs of slow-paced life in the midst of activity. Mosque as a place for fulfilling spiritual need, whilst restoring humanity and socializing. Also to take a break and take a rest from the busy routine, naturally.

02. Plants Manipulation Architecture: Knitting Abandoned Ruins Undergraduate Final Project - 2017

This final project challenges how architecture could collaborate with its entropy elements wild plants and weeds - situated in a future scenario where this entropy is taking place in all built environments.

PROJECT BRIEF Based on the scenario, the future is facing a condition where abandoned ruins are everywhere as the effect of massive destruction by human. The enthropy elements itself - wild plants and weeds affects the building material aging process, especially one that happens on ruined and abandoned buildings.

“Disturbed ecosystems (either by human or natural causes) often have a higher susceptibility to invasion than those that spend long periods in late successional phases” (Mashhadi, 2004)

WELCOME TO THE YEAR 2075 It is the future. It is not going as smooth as you thought. Massive destruction happens, bombs exploded everywhere The ruins still remain, but people are gone The buildings are abandoned When the people are coming back, Plants are taking over the place.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

“Not resisting the irresistible force of entropy, instead, ‘collaborated’ with it” (Till, 2009)

Program is injected inside the site, reflecting to the need of people on the aftermath of destruction. Here, the program is focusing on how they could find entertainment together with doing their everyday activity. Some programs need to be connected to each other, so that affected the spatial function configuration. Some need something to connect, some others is placed close to each other. The plants that will be used on the site as the story maker. The placement of the plant is based on their ability and their necessity while growing, also by how could we shape them inside the site.

03. Meester Cornelis Elderly Care Academic Work Architectural Design 5 - 2016

This studio project consentrated in adaptive reuse on heritage building in Jakarta. Following the Urban Development Guideline of Jakarta, this project challenges how the historical building could adapt with the current urban context and situation.

PROJECT BRIEF The elderly population in Indonesia are predicted to be approximately 28.8 million by 2020, or equal to around 11.34% of the total population. Meanwhile, about 4.6 million of the elderly population are displaced (per 2013)

In general, there need a condition where all the elderly remain in a good health, active, and productive socially and economically.

EXISTING DETAILS The existing has several details used from the door, windows, column, and the roof crown. The details comes from Indische Empire Style during the Dutch occupation in the 18th century.

IDEA To highlight the existing heritage building by making a contrast background, so the view is directed towards the heritage building at the front without making the mass look distinct with the existing.

“INCREASING HEIGHT The mass has different height and gradually blocking the visual, so that the mass act as the background directing the visual towards the existing building because of the contrasting height.

04. Redesign & Rebranding: Tous Les Jours Academic Work Interior Design (Group Work) - 2016

This interior project focus on redesigning and rebranding retail store interior. By learning the brand itself, we could create the new concept for the store and how the interior details are made.

TOUS LES JOURS Tous Les Jours (TLJ) is a bakery and cafe brand from South Korea, specialized in European style bread and pastry. Since 1997, they serve fresh bakery products and cafe to support the bakery itself, serving variety of coffee and beverage.

In the new concept, we focus and try to embrace the European style bread and pastry, the thing TLJ specialized in. Therefore, we used homemade, fresh baked bakery concept as the store concept. With upper-middle family as the market target, we proposed French House as the new theme for TLJ. The new experience of getting bread freshly baked from the oven, interaction with the bread maker will be an experience for the customer itself.

CONCEPT

To get the fresh warm bread, customer has to communicate with the staff.

Embrace the concept of fresh from the oven, freshly baked bread and pastry are sold to the customer right away. Porch - Eating Area (Cafe) Foyer - Information about the brand and bread (Window Display) Kitchen - Baking and selling the bread
