Summer at Vine House Farm
from TermTimes 152
If you’re looking for somewhere to take the family for a few hours or a pit stop on those day trips out, Vine House Farm Shop and Café is a great place to head to this summer.
Especially as they’ve added a new play area for the kids and their gorgeous wildlife garden is in full bloom. Not only does this spacious café at Deeping St Nicholas offer some tasty treats for lunch, or coffee and cake, you can also pick up something for your dinner from their Farm Shop. The instore butchery run by Grasmere Farm runs regular promotions and there’s plenty of fresh, locally grown produce to buy. For the children there is a great enclosed playground with plenty to do for the under eights, situated next to the outdoor decking so you can relax with a cuppa. Refreshments for dogs are available on the deck too, and their staff love handing out free dog treats! Families can explore the large wildlife garden and pond area for free, where they’ll learn about what’s been planted and why. They’ll enjoy a game of hide and seek in the growing willow tunnel and tepee or can join in with the wildlife trail and be rewarded with a sunflower planting kit to take home. The café has seating for 80 inside with a further 60 on the decking. It’s ideal to refresh with coffee and cake, milkshakes and ice-cream or choose from their wide menu offering delicious homemade dishes, using home grown and local produce. Menus for children, breakfast, lunch, and afternoon tea are available. Children are catered for with highchairs and free wildlife themed activity sheets. You can even learn more about how they farm with wildlife in mind, how the bird seed, available in the Farm Shop, is grown and visit a field full of sunflowers on a tour, complete with tractor and trailer ride. These tours take place on 2 July, and 6, 7 & 13 August. Tickets can be bought from the Farm Shop. Vine House Farm Café is open Monday to Saturday 8.30am–4.30pm and Sunday 9am–3.30pm.
