Embark on a transformative journey of environmental awareness and artistic innovation with ECOncert, a series where the profound beauty of Chinese chamber music becomes a powerful medium for impactful social messages. This year’s theme, Waste, explores the intricate relationship between humanity and nature, inviting audiences to reflect on this pressing issue through music and art.
Inspired by the documentary “Wasted” by Eco-Business, Creative Director Wong De Li, Dedric has collaborated with visionary artists across diverse disciplines to create a captivating concert experience that transcends traditional music. Drawing from the natural world, the compositions evoke the fragile balance between humans, waste, and the environment, challenging us to reconsider our role in this interconnected ecosystem. Highlights of this year’s ECOncert include showcasing an emphasis on Chinese traditional instruments remade from sustainable materials, highlighting the possibilities of repurposing what might otherwise be discarded. There will also be a thought-provoking zen garden installation, mirroring the cyclical nature of waste and renewal.
More than just a concert, ECOncert is a call to action – to rethink our relationship with the world around us, and to consider how the arts can play a role in fostering a more sustainable future. As we look ahead, future editions of this series may explore other pressing environmental themes, celebrating our deep connection with nature and the importance of preservation.

“WASTED”, A DOCUMENTARY BY ECO-BUSINESS
ECO-BUSINESS 制作纪录片《 WASTED 》
Wasted is Eco-Business’ impact documentary which was first launched in Singapore and Dubai in the run up to the United Nations climate change COP28 meeting in December to overwhelming interest and reception.
The film highlights the connections between waste and human health, and its intersection with the climate crisis. It is a visual exploration across Asia, from landfills to recycling plants, cinematic aerials to intimate portraits.
Wasted puts a spotlight on the unprecedented volume of trash in the era of the Anthropocene and asks important questions: Why are we wasting opportunities to solve our waste issues, and what can be done to turn waste pollution into solutions? Featuring a diverse cast across the region, the film inspires action across business, policy and individuals to clean up our communities, cities and natural habitats and create healthy, thriving economies.
《 Wasted 》是由 Eco-Business 制作的纪录片，于 2023 年 12 月的第 28 届联合国气候变化大会前在新 加坡和迪拜首次推出，反响热烈。

WONG DE LI DEDRIC,

黄德励，创意总监及指挥
Wong De Li, Dedric is the Resident Conductor of the Ding Yi Music Company, Music Director of the Asian Cultural Symphony Orchestra and Nanyang Collective. In 2014, he received the National Arts Council Arts Scholarship Recipient. In 2016, he was featured by the Straits Times Scholars’ Choice and in 2019, was a Panellist of the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth Singapore Youth Action Plan.
He graduated with a Masters in Orchestral Conducting at the China Conservatory of Music, under the tutelage of Professor Yang You Qing, with the guidance of Maestro Tsung Yeh. He had earlier graduated from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) in 2007 with a Diploma in Music, majoring in Suona Performance. After his graduation, he received guidance in conducting from Singapore’s renowned Chinese music educator, Singapore Cultural Medallion Dr. Tay Teow Kiat.
In 2016-2017, Wong served as the conducting fellowship with the Singapore Chinese Orchestra. In 2016, he guest conducted and staged his conducting recital with the China Conservatory of Music Middle School Youth Chinese Orchestra. In 2018 he was invited to be the adjudicator of the Singapore National Chinese Music Competition and in 2019, guest conducted the China Sze Chuan Tian Zi Ensemble and the Suzhou Symphony Orchestra String Ensemble.
In more recent years, he has been actively performing and representing Singapore in many international arts festivals, in countries such as China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia and Cambodia.
With his keen interest in traditional Chinese music, he has received the Singapore Hokkien Huay Kuan Arts and Cultural Bursary twice, in the years 2004 and 2006. He currently serves as an executive member of the Singapore Chinese Music Federation, Vice President of the Suona and Guan Society of Singapore and the Ensemble Director of the School of the Arts Chinese Chamber Ensemble.
黄德励自求学时期就对指挥抱有很大的兴趣，特别 是在郑朝吉博士的影响与教导下，指挥成为了他的 梦想。
2014
年，黄德励成功考入中国音乐学院指挥 系，师从杨又青教授，他也在多位著名指挥大师如 叶聪的悉心指导下学习指挥艺术。他希望以自己学 到的知识，提升鼎艺团的艺术水平。
2013 年，黄德励被选上台北市立国乐团举办的国乐 研习营 - 指挥大师班，由著名指挥家张国勇教授以 及瞿春泉老师担任指导。续 2015 年被选上新加坡 华乐团指挥工作坊，在指挥家叶聪的悉心指导下， 指挥新加坡华乐团。
黄德励在 2004 年与 2006 年获得福建会馆艺术奖学 金，2014 年荣获新加坡国家艺术理事会艺术奖学金 攻读指挥硕士学位。他也多次代表新加坡出访多个 国家与地区演出，如中国、香港、台湾、英国、菲律 宾、马来西亚、印度尼西亚和柬埔寨。
黄德励于 2016 年与中国音乐学院附中少年民族 乐团举办黄德励指挥硕士音乐会暨顾冠仁先生 新江南丝竹作品音乐会，与顾冠仁先生联合执棒。
同年也担任亚洲文化交响乐团指挥，也被新加坡海 峡时报报导他为新加坡杰出国家艺术理事会奖学 金得主之一，并为其做专访报道。
ANG XIAO TING,
STAGE DIRECTOR / DRAMATURG
洪小婷，舞台导演 / 戏剧研创
Ang Xiao Ting is a freelance hyphenated theatre practitioner (actor, director, dramaturg, facilitator). She is an Associate Artist with The Theatre Practice (Singapore) and Programmer for Practice Tuckshop.
Her practice in Eco-Theatre prioritises the various degrees of an integrated ecological practice, with a focus on Southeast Asian foodways, such as: Recess Time – which toured to World Stage Design 2022 (Calgary) and received an “Honourable Mention” at #CreateCOP27 – a global open call for art in conjunction with COP27.
As an actor, she was last seen in: The Soldier & His Virtuous Wife (playing Sidekick A) and Four Horse Road. Her recent directing credits include Extinction Feast (2021 Singapore Writers’ Festival; 2022 The Theatre Practice) and Pickle Party. Ang graduated from Lancaster Institute of Contemporary Arts (UK) where she received the LICA prize for Outstanding Achievement in Theatre.
洪小婷是一名全方位的自由业剧场工作者（演员、 导演、戏剧研创兼引导师）；同时，她也是实践剧场 （新加坡）的实践艺术工作者及实堂的节目 策划员。
在她的生态剧场实践中，除了考量到环境保护和 可持续发展等不同程度的生态实践整合，她也将 东南亚饮食文化作为重要的切入点，进一步 探讨、表达生态问题。她的相关作品《休息实间》， 在 2022 年获邀于“ WSD 世界剧场设计展”（卡尔加 里）巡回演出，并在同年度获得“# CreateCOP27”的 荣誉提名，响应联合国气候变迁大会。
身为一名演员，小婷近期参与的作品有：实践剧场 《都是当兵惹的祸》和《四马路》。身为一名导演， 小婷的作品包括：《Extinction Feast》（2021新加坡 作家节；2022）和《Pickle Party》。
小婷毕业于英国兰卡斯特当代艺术学院（LICA）， 在校时获颁“LICA戏剧杰出成就奖”。
YII KAH HOE, COMPOSER
余家和，作曲家
Yii Kah Hoe is a Malaysian composer and Chinese dizi and xiao improviser. Yii has been recognised as one of the major voices among Southeast Asian composers of his generation. His music has been widely performed in Asia, America, and Europe.
Yii won the National Outstanding Educator Award 2018 presented by the Private Education Cooperative of Malaysia. In the fall of 2015, Yii was the Scripps College Erma Taylor O’Brien Distinguished Visiting Professor at Scripps College in Claremont. Yii was guest composer and guest speaker at Birmingham Conservatoire UK (2013 & 2014), York St John University (2014), Yale-NUS College (2017), Iowa State University (2015),Tianjin Conservatoire of Music (2017), Mahidol University (2017), Guanxi Conservatoire of Music (2014, 2015, 2016).
As a Fullbright Scholar in Residence, Yii taught at Washington State University’s School of Music from August 2022 to June 2023.
Yii was the festival director of Kuala Lumpur Contemporary Music Festival 2009, the festival director of SoundBridge festival (2013, 2015), the president of Society of Malaysian Contemporary Composers (2014 – 2016) and a senior lecturer at SEGi College Subang Jaya, Malaysia since 2000.
余家和是一位马来西亚作曲家，同时也是笛子和箫 的即兴演奏家。余家和被认为是他这一代东南亚作 曲家中的重要声音之一。他的音乐在亚洲、美洲和 欧洲广泛演出。
他获得了马来西亚私立教育合作社颁发的 2018 年 全国杰出教育家奖。2015 年秋季，他曾担任克莱尔 蒙特斯克里普斯学院的厄玛·泰勒·奥布莱恩杰出 客座教授。他曾作为客卿作曲家和演讲嘉宾访问 过英国伯明翰音乐学院（2013 年和 2014 年）、约克圣 约翰大学（2014 年）、耶鲁-新加坡学院（2017 年）、爱 荷华州立大学（2015 年）、天津音乐学院（2017 年）、 马希多大学（2017 年）、广西音乐学院（2014 年、2015 年、2016年）。
作为富布赖特驻校学者，余家和于 2022 年 8 月至 2023年6月期间在华盛顿州立大学音乐学院任教。
余家和曾担任 2009 年吉隆坡当代音乐节的节庆 总监，2013年和2015年 SoundBridge 音乐节的节庆 总监，2014 年至 2016 年担任马来西亚当代作曲家 协会主席，自 2000 年以来一直是马来西亚雪邦再 也实基学院的高级讲师。
AVIK CHARI, COMPOSER 作曲家
Avik Chari is a Singapore-based composer and sound designer for games, visuals, spaces, and performing ensembles. His compositions blend orchestral and traditional Asian instruments, synths, organic beats, and ambient sound design, transporting listeners on journeys of self-reflection and exploration. Chari’s works have been performed by ensembles like the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, Asian Cultural Symphony Orchestra, Transient Canvas, the Harp Quarterly, and Morse Percussion, and featured in diverse media projects. Notably, he was commissioned by the Asian Civilisations Museum to create an electroacoustic piece called Senescence for their Pedra Branca shipwrecks exhibition, featuring Ng Pei-Sian, principal cellist of the Singapore Symphony.
Chari has also edited and mixed the soundtracks of Disney’s Inside Out into a 15-minute soundtrack for the Gardens by the Bay light show in Singapore. A graduate of the Boston Conservatory at Berklee, he studied under composers Tina Tallon and Felipe Lara, earning the Roger Sessions Memorial Award for composition.

BEKHZOD OBLAYOROV, CELLO 大提琴
Born in Uzbekistan in 2001, Bekhzod Oblayorov began his studies with Kamola Abdullaeva in Tashkent and later continued under the guidance of Ng Pei Sian (Principal Cello of SSO) and Leslie Tan (former member of the Tang Quartet and Singapore Symphony Orchestra) at the National University of Singapore’s Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, graduating with honours in 2023.
He has attended masterclasses led by worldrenowned musicians such as Suren Bagratuni, Alexey Seleznov, Daniel Veis, Shlomo Mintz, Qian Zhou, and the Curtis String Quartet, further honing his craft.
Oblayorov has performed at the Esplanade Concert Hall, Victoria Concert Hall, Cambodia Royal Palace, Saratov and Samara Philharmonic Society, and the National Conservatory of Uzbekistan, among others.
In 2017, he won the First Prize in the Ilyos Ibrogimov National Cello Competition in Uzbekistan. He also participated in the International Cello Competition I. Knushevitsky (Russia, 2018), secured 2nd prize in the Young Talent International Competition (Uzbekistan, 2018), and performed at the Yuriy Bashmet International Festival (Russia, 2018).
Oblayorov also shares a passion for jazz, having participated in the International UNESCO Jazz Festival in Uzbekistan from 2015 to 2019.
Oblayorov currently performs on a 1810 J. Hammig from Germany, and has been a Ding Yi musician since 2024.

WONG WAI KIT, RUAN
黄炜杰，阮
Wong Wai Kit is a Ruan musician for the acclaimed Chinese Chamber Music Ensemble, Ding Yi Music Company, Ruanxian Association of Singapore, and the China Ruan Ensemble. He began playing the Zhongruan at the age of 6. At the age of 13, he was under the tutelage of Ding Xiao Yan, Fu Yingying and Han Ying. Wai Kit has also received tutelage from renowned Ruan Musician Feng Man Tian and renowned musician and composer, Lin Ji Liang.
In 2012, Wong received his first national award at the National Chinese Music Competition held by the National Arts Council, where he was awarded second in the Youth Zhongruan Category. In 2016, he competed in the National Chinese Music Competition again, this time in the Open Zhongruan Category where he was awarded first place. In 2017, he then competed in the Nanyang International Chinese Music Competition in the youth high school open category and was awarded second with no first place awarded.
Aside from the Ruan, Wong studied Orchestration and arrangements from Dr Zechariah Goh and Americ Goh during his degree program with Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. On top of Orchestration and arrangements, he was also a conducting student of Lim Yau and Joost Flach. Wong graduated from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Royal College of Music Bachelor’s with Second Upper Class Honours for music performance major in 2021.
Wong was invited to pursue his Master’s degree at the China Conservatory of Music, where he graduated with a major in Ruan Performance and Research under the tutelage of renowned Ruan musician and Professor Wei Wei. As the first
Singaporean musician to be accepted into the China Conservatory of Music as a Ruan Major, Wong was awarded a scholarship provided by the conservatory, further distinguishing his remarkable achievement.
黄炜杰，新加坡鼎艺室内乐团青年阮演奏家、新加 坡阮咸学会阮演奏家，中国阮咸乐团阮演奏家。
中国音乐学院国乐系阮专业在读研究生，师从著名 演奏家，中国音乐学院博士生导师魏蔚教授。
6 岁起学习阮咸，2019 年毕业于新加坡南洋艺术学 院阮专业。2021 年取得英国皇家音乐学院指挥、作 曲配器和阮专业学士学位。同年考入中国音乐学院 研究生院阮专业。
在 求 学 过 程 中，启 蒙 于 丁 晓 燕 女 生 和 付 颖 颖女士，在求学期间跟随韩颖女士学习，于中国先 后受到林吉良先生、冯满天先生、张鑫华先生以及 魏蔚教授的指点。在英国皇家音乐学院学习期间， 师从于著名指挥家赛尔吉乌·切利比达奇( Sergiu Chelibidache) 学徒Lim Yau和Joost Flach，和著名作 曲家吴多才博士和Americ Goh 。
ALECIA NEO, ARTS INSTALLATION DESIGNER 梁惠芬，艺术装置设计
Alecia Neo is an artist developing long-term projects involving collaboration with individuals and communities. Her socially engaged practice unfolds primarily through lens-based media and participatory artworks that address modes of radical hospitality and care. Care Index, her ongoing research which focuses on the indexing and transmission of embodied gestures and movements emerging from lived experiences of care, has been presented at the Singapore Art Museum, The Esplanade: Theatres by the Bay, The Listening Biennial, ArtScience Museum, Assembly for Permacircular Museums (ZKM Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe), New Season of Care (Asia-ArtActivism) and Presence of Mind (Gallery Lane Cove, NSW, Australia).
She co-founded Brack, an art collective and platform for socially engaged art, and the Ubah Rumah Residency on Nikoi Island, which focuses on the intersection of art, hospitality and ecology. Since 2014, her ongoing collaborations with disabled artists have manifested as an arts platform, Unseen Art Initiatives. She is currently an associate artist with Dance Nucleus.
梁惠芬是一位艺术家兼文化工作者，主导的长期 项目的合作方包括个人和社会群体。她的社会参与 实践主要通过基于镜头的媒体和参与式艺术作品 展开，究极热情的待人之道和照料他人的方式。 她正在进行的 “Care Index” 研究，重点是对从生 活关怀经验中产生的身体姿态和动作进行索引和 传播。她的研究成果曾在新加坡艺术博物馆、滨海 艺术中心 — 海湾剧院、, The Listening Biennia和 艺术科学博物馆等地展出。
她与他人共同创立了艺术团体和社会参与艺术平 台 Brack，以及位于尼柯伊岛用于关注艺术、接待和 生态的交叉点的 Ubah Rumah Residency 。自 2014 年以来，她与残疾艺术家的持续合作已体现为 一个艺术平台，“Unseen Art Initiatives”。她目前是 Dance Nucleus 的合作艺术家。
LIU YONG HUAY, LIGHTING DESIGNER
廖永慧，灯光设计
Liu trained at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in Lighting Design (2016), under the National Arts Council Arts Scholarship (Postgraduate). In September 2017, she co-founded 微 Wei Collective with theatre practitioner Neo Hai Bin. They are interested in the performance of space, and how material and movement can allow one to experience a breathing space.
She is honoured to have worked on numerous theatre and dance productions in Singapore.
廖永慧毕业于香港演艺学院（ 2016 年），主修灯光 设计，曾获新加坡国家艺术理事会艺术奖学金 （研究生），于 2017 年 9 月和梁海彬共同创立 “微 Wei Collective”。喜爱运用光线，探索如何赋予 空间、物体和身体呼吸空间。
