Saturlaze at Finz

6 | Dining and Nightlife Abu Dhabi

Finz, located at Beach Rotana Abu Dhabi sits just behind the hotel, perched on the shores edge, Finz offers spanning views of the turquoise waters and Al Maryah Island. As you enter Finz you will instantly be taken back by the décor, large exposed white beams, beautiful fishnet inspired lighting and gold stained windows, that allow you a glimpse into the kitchen. Finz décor is minimalistic and refined, its coral tones and quality furnishings mean that this restaurant wouldn’t look out of place in the Hamptons. Weather permitting, the large terrace is the ideal place to sit, it perfectly catches the breeze and just the right amount of sunlight. Today we are visiting Finz to try their Saturlaze concept, a relaxed Saturday lunch served to the backdrop of DJ beats, sounds like an ideal way to spend a lazy Saturday afternoon. We enter Finz and are warmly greeted by the team and shown to our table. As we wait for our first course to arrive we are served a selection of breads, all are delightful although the squid ink bread is slightly too potent for our taste. To start we enjoy the Seafood Stand to share, Prawns, Mussels, Oysters, Salmon Ceviche, Crab Cocktail, Tuna Tartar and Nori Chips are presented on a bed of crushed ice across two separate tiers. The presentation is perfect. As delightful as our starter is we enjoy the Crab Cocktail and the Salmon Ceviche the most, the flavours are tangy and slightly zesty.

Next the Catch of The Day, a choice of grilled Pollock or Hake or Sea Bream with Tabbouleh, Couscous, Oriental Rice and Tahini. I select the Sea Bream whilst my dining companion opts for the Hake, both grilled to perfection the Sea Bream is denser as the Hake flakes off the fork perfectly. Finally, to conclude a selection of assorted Saturlaze sweets, fresh cut fruits, petit fours, homemade ice-cream and chocolate mousse. Be sure to try the homemade ice-cream, its delicious. The service is warm and friendly, the team do their best to make suggestions throughout our dining experience even though most of the menu is set. They do however convince us to try one of the refreshing mocktails. Saturlaze at Finz is a wonderful way to enjoy a lazy Saturday afternoon. The experiences costs just AED 290 net per person with water, soft drinks and mocktails or AED 370 net per person with water, sparkling beverages and grapes. If you are looking for a relaxing Saturday lunch we would recommend Saturlaze at Finz, good seafood, pleasant service and a great price, especially given the large quantity of food. Saturlaze is available every Saturday at Finz from 2.00pm to 6.00pm. Finz, Beach Rotana Abu Dhabi, 02 697 9011

Our next course offers a choice of Seafood Pasta or Lobster Bisque, we both opt for the Lobster Bisque. Shredded lobster is served with a warm bisque broth poured generously on top. The Lobster Bisque is flavourful yet surprisingly light. March | 7

Café Sushi Today we are visiting Café Sushi for lunch. As you enter Café Sushi you will notice the centre bar, its rotating conveyor belt of Japanese cuisine instantly makes you feel as if you have left Abu Dhabi and been transported to Tokyo. The décor is bright and clean with light wooden furnishing, high seating tables and chairs surround the centre bar with optional lower tables on both sides of the restaurant. To start we are presented with Edamame, Miso Soup and Tuna and Salmon Sashimi. The Edamame is served warm with a hint of sea salt and the Miso Soup offers the perfect consistency with just the right amount of tofu. However, the Tuna and Salmon Sashimi is incredible. The Salmon Sashimi makes a lasting impression, fresh to the taste the salmon simply melts in our mouth. This is an indication of an excellent quality product, particularly important when it comes to Sashimi. Continuing our salmon theme, we then enjoy the Blow Torch Salmon Toro and the Hana Maki. As the name suggests the Blow Torch Salmon Toro consists of beautiful blowtorched salmon which sits on a bed of hand rolled rice. Adding an element of theatre, the salmon is blowtorched before us. The Hana Maki is delicious and proves to be our favourite with the roe adding a slightly salter edge to the dish. On both occasions the salmon offers yet another melt in the mouth moment.

10 | Dining and Nightlife Abu Dhabi

Next, we enjoy the Dynamite Rolls, Crispy Salmon Skin Rolls, Crispy Shrimp Tempura Maki and the Tuna, Salmon and Seabass Nigiri. The Dynamite Rolls consist of salmon belly, avocado and pickled radish, this maki roll has been lightly fried on the outside adding a delightful crispy layer. The Nigiri keeps tempting us to enjoy just one more bite, the freshness of the fish is sensational and we would highly recommend ordering this dish when you next visit Café Sushi. We dined at Café Sushi for lunch which runs from 12.00pm to 4.00pm and offers diners unlimited sushi from the conveyor belt along with soft beverages for AED 156. If you can’t make it for lunch don’t worry, for a little bit extra you can enjoy dinner from 6.00pm to 9.00pm with unlimited sushi from the conveyor belt along with soft beverages and one selected Japanese beverage for AED 181. Pachaylen Located in the tranquil Eastern Mangroves Hotel and Spa Abu Dhabi by Anantara you will find Pachaylen, one of Abu Dhabi’s most authentic Thai restaurants. This classic yet sophisticated Thai restaurant offers a menu of timeless Thai dishes. The interior features dark wooden tones with hints of gold detailing, the high ceiling and dim lighting add an element of elegance. Thai, and Asian cuisine in general is very popular in Abu Dhabi, I’m an enormous fan of Thai cuisine myself so am very interested to see how Pachaylen compares to its rivals. For appetizers I opt for the Satay Kai, grilled marinated chicken satay with peanut dipping sauce, a classic Thai dish, whilst my dining companion orders the Yum Som O, Pomelo Salad. Served with prawns, crispy shallots and sweet tamarind dressing the Pomelo Salad has the perfect balance of crispy texture and citrus taste. The Satay Kai is also enjoyable. To accompany our starters, we order the Tom Yum Kung, spicy prawns, galangal, kaffir lime leaves, lemongrass, straw mushrooms and coriander infused into a delectable soup. We ask for the soup to be made mild with not too much chili, this results in us waiting slightly longer than anticipated as chef makes the soup from scratch, but we are happy to wait if it means we can enjoy our soup. The soup is full of flavor and the lemongrass has a strong presence, perfect for the cooler evenings. 14 | Dining and Nightlife Abu Dhabi

From the curry section of the menu I order the Gaeng Kiew Tao-Hu Puhk Ruam, Thai green curry with Thai basil, tofu and seasonal vegetables. The dish is rich and creamy and the perfect option for vegetarians. My dining companion orders the Khung Yang Kratiam Prik Thai from the steamed and grilled section of the menu. Bok choy, garlic pepper sauce and crispy shallots smother the large grilled tiger prawns. For sides we opt for the Khao Phad Ka-Ti fried rice, coconut milk and crispy garlic, the combination works perfectly. For dessert we select the Khao Niew Ma Moung. Chiang Rai coconut sticky rice pudding with sweet Thai mango. Before our dessert arrives we speak with the pastry chef, her family have been creating desserts for over 120 years and have even catered for the Thai Royal Family. Her passion and dedication is evident as she tells us how she personally sources every ingredient that goes into making our selected dessert. Made fresh each dessert is carefully crafted in the open kitchen and the Chiang Rai coconut sticky rice pudding with sweet Thai mango is no exception. We opt for one dish to share, our only regret this evening is that we didn’t order another. Pachaylen, offers a delicious array of traditional Thai cuisine from taste to presentation you’ll feel like you’ve been transported to Thailand. Let me just start by admitting I am a huge fan of Coconut Oil, I use it to cook, to moisturize, as a replacement for butter on my toast and as part of my beauty routine. But what is Coconut Oil I hear you say? It may sound obvious but not everyone knows, Coconut Oil comes from the flesh of the coconut and is a true superfood! Coconut Oil can easily be found in supermarkets across the UAE, my personal favourite is Waitrose Organic Virgin Cold Pressed Coconut Oil. I like this brand for a few reasons, it comes in a tub, allowing me to easily scoop as much as I need and its organic cold pressed, meaning the Coconut Oil hasn’t been chemically extracted. Cooking I first started to use Coconut Oil for cooking when I was looking to make healthier lifestyle choices. About two thirds of Coconut Oil is composed of medium-chain fatty acids (MCFAs), while other common seed and vegetables oils are made up of long-chain fatty acids (LCFAs). Coconut Oil is the richest natural source of MCFAs. MCFAs are better utilized by the body, easily digested and more readily transformed into energy rather than accumulating as fat they help boost your metabolism. Hair Care Let’s face it we’ve all been left with dull lifeless hair at one point in our lives, well if you don’t want to splash out on expensive treatments at the salon Coconut Oil can offer a much cheaper and more organic solution. Use Coconut Oil as a natural way to help your hair grow longer, thicker and faster whilst staying nice and shiny. The vitamins and essential fatty acids found in Coconut Oil help nourish the scalp and even reduce dandruff. Weight Loss When it comes to superfoods that can help you lose weight, Coconut Oil is by far one of the best. It contains a unique combination of fatty acids which has a powerful effect on your metabolism. Several studies show that just by adding Coconut Oil to your diet, you can lose fat, especially the in the abdominal area. Coconut Oil has the added benefit of reducing hunger and cravings, it’s easy to see how it can help you lose weight faster. Immunity Coconut Oil added to an otherwise relatively healthy diet can serve to dramatically boost one’s immune system. Coconut Oil is a powerful anti-viral agent. If you’re looking to boost your immunity naturally, simply use a teaspoon of Coconut Oil a day. While some proponents advise going with multiple tablespoons, coconut’s anti-viral effects can be quite strong unless you’re used to them. However, it’s worth mentioning some people experience the ‘die off effect’, unpleasant symptoms like headaches, fatigue and muscle pain, as bacteria starts to die off in the body with the use of Coconut Oil.

Benefi Coconu

fits of ut Oil

Dental Care Calcium is a vital component of our teeth. Since Coconut Oil facilitates the absorption of calcium by the body, it helps in developing strong teeth. It also stops tooth decay. Recent research suggests that it is also beneficial in reducing plaque formation and plaqueinduced gingivitis. Rinsing your mouth with Coconut Oil three times a week has been proven to lift bacteria and greatly reduce the risk of disease around your gums. Also, some studies have shown that Coconut Oil also helps improve the whiteness of teeth. Speeds Up Healing Coconut Oil is one of the most widely used natural remedies for treating burns due to its amazing skin healing properties. It not only speeds up the healing process and prevents secondary infections but also moisturizes the skin and reduces the scars or marks on the skin caused by burns. Always remember that Coconut Oil is recommended to treat only first-degree burns. Coconut Oil is most effective on bruises as it speeds up the healing process by repairing damaged tissues. Stress Relief New research suggests that it may have anti-stress and antioxidant properties. You can also use it as a massage oil, which will definitely help with stress reduction too! Moisturizer It acts as an effective moisturizer on all types of skins. Coconut Oil is a safe solution for preventing dryness and skin flaking and boosts skin’s hydration. Many have also found it helps to reduce the appearance of stretch marks whilst also protecting us from UV radiation. Coconut Oil addresses various skin problems including psoriasis, dermatitis, eczema and other skin infections. Energy Levels The medium chain fatty acids of Coconut Oil do not need to be broken down in the small intestine. They get absorbed intact and go straight to the liver from the digestive tract where they are in turn used as an instant source of energy. Improve Acne Now, it may seem counterintuitive to rub an oil all over your face when you have acne, however, the lauric acid in Coconut Oil comes to the rescue again. Coconut Oil can help inflammation and redness related to acne. It will also help moisturize your skin instead of overdrying it as most store-bought products will - making your body produce even more oil, snowballing the acne effect. Cleanse your face regularly, apply a very small amount on your face and allow it to soak in. We hope that you have found this article useful however we do recommend that you always seek professional medical advice before making changes to your diet or lifestyle.
