Beach House

06 | Dining and Nightlife Abu Dhabi

Located at Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi Hotel and Villas the Beach House serves unique home-made dishes from the Mediterranean coastline prepared family style. Beach House offers stunning views, guests can choose to dine indoors or outdoors and absorb the magnificent views of the tranquil Saadiyat Beach. Today we are visiting Beach House for lunch. From the Tapas menu we order Patatas Bravas, Crispy Whitebait with Lime Aioli, Crispy Slow Stew Short Ribs with Smoked Paprika and Tomato Salsa, Warm Asparagus with Poached Egg and Parmesan and Oven Roasted Prawns with Garlic, Chili and White Grape. From the Salad menu we select the Burrata with Datterino Tomatoes, Basil and Grissini. The food is served family style to our table, allowing us to share each dish. It arrives in good time and piping hot. The Crispy Slow Stew Short Ribs with Smoked Paprika and Tomato Salsa are delectable, flaking off the fork, every bite is delightful. The Burrata is fresh and at the sight of our knife cuts open and oozes over the tomatoes, true Mediterranean style, it does not disappoint. My dining partners favorite dish is the Crispy Whitebait with Lime Aioli. It is hard to find Whitebait on a menu in the city, let alone great tasting Whitebait, but this dish delivers in every way. Although served to share this is one dish enjoyed only by my dining partner, who is reluctant to share. Foodie problems, I’m sure you can relate. Next to arrive are the Oven Roasted Prawns with Garlic, Chili and White Grape. The prawns are fantastic and my personal favorite, a beautifully rustic and mildly buttery taste, with a tiny hint of chili, gives this dish a depth of flavors. The Patatas Bravas are so good that we cannot resist ordering a second dish for the table. Overall Beach House is an excellent choice for lunch or dinner, the menu is that good we will be returning for a second visit very soon. The menu is also clearly labelled for a variety of diets, such as vegetarians or those gluten-free. We love the tapas menu which we feel is perfect for lunch although larger plates of the same dishes are available on the menu. Apart from a great Mediterranean menu Beach House is also a great spot to relax and enjoy a sundowner whilst watching the sunset on the pristine white sandy beach. From the fresh quality food to the attentive staff, what’s not to love about this restaurant. COYA Abu Dhabi, Friday Brunch

Since launching in London in 2012, COYA has become one of the world’s most celebrated global restaurants. Its Abu Dhabi branch opened just over a year ago and since its inception has asserted itself as one of the capitals best restaurants. Located next to the Four Seasons Hotel Abu Dhabi, COYA serves vibrant, contemporary Peruvian cuisine. This Friday afternoon we are visiting COYA to experience their revamped Friday Brunch. From the moment you pass through the Inca inspired door way you will be taken back by the vibrant yet comfortable décor, bright colourful pillows, large wooden chairs, hanging plants and dark wooden furnishing, the décor at COYA is as unmistakable as its cuisine. Our culinary journey begins with COYA’s famed Guacamole alongside the Tuna and Salmon Tacos and the Veal Bao Buns. The Guacamole is light and creamy, and we’d probably go as far as saying its some of the best we’ve tasted in the city. The Tuna and Salmon Tacos are delicious, my personal favourite is the Salmon Taco, the salmon is delightful, once you take a bite your palate is treated to a contrast of textures with an underlining zest. Next are the small plates, served in a display style. We select the Salmon Ceviche, Tuna Ceviche, Red Snapper Ceviche, Corn Salad, Avocado Maki and the Beetroot Causa. The culinary team do well to ensure that each of the ceviche’s offers a varying flavour. Unexpectedly we are left in awe of the Corn Salad, this simple dish is not one to be missed. A new experience for us is the Beetroot Causa – a traditional Peruvian potato-based terrine, bursting with flavour this is another great dish from COYA. Much to my companions delight the skewers are served piping hot and to the table, they come in three varieties, Mushroom, Chicken and Veal Heart. Admittedly we didn’t realise it was Veal Heart otherwise we most probably would have swerved that skewer.

Our mains arrive and are beautifully presented. Consisting of Chilean Sea Bass with Rice, Lime and Chili alongside Spicy Beef Filet, Crispy Shallots and Garlic with sides of Asparagus and Stir-Fry Quinoa Vegetables. The mains are equally as enjoyable as the first few courses, making the overall dining experience fantastic. For those who have experienced COYA’s Friday Brunch before the most dynamic change you will notice is the inviting new dessert display, featuring at least six choices of fruit-based or savoury sweets. More traditional Peruvian desserts include Tres Leches and Homemade Picarones, a Peruvian type of donut. Having already overindulged in COYA’s delicious cuisine we only manage to enjoy a small helping of the Tres Leches. A combination of well-loved Peruvian favourites and some seasonal additions ensure that everyone will enjoy Friday Brunch at COYA Abu Dhabi. Set to a backdrop of Latina beats with spanning ocean views, COYA Abu Dhabi offers a sophisticated yet vibrant atmosphere. We thoroughly enjoyed the brunch, from the cuisine to the service to the atmosphere, we would definitely return very soon. Traveling to Orlando Flights from Abu Dhabi International Airport to Orlando International Airport (MCO) take approximately 22 hours with one stop in London or JFK, breaking up the journey. Economy prices start at around AED 4,300 per person with Business Class at around AED 14,000. Dining and Nightlife in Orlando Orlando boasts thousands of restaurants, making the dining options across the city read like a world map. Visitors can be sure to try exotic flavors or find a taste of home. Orlando’s flourishing and local dining scene features cuisines from African to Vietnamese, eateries by popular celebrity chefs, intimate cafes and bars, dinner shows and dining experiences. Once the sun sets, the pulse quickens as Orlando’s thriving nightlife comes alive. From ultra-hip bars and high-energy clubs to laid-back watering holes and multi-venue entertainment complexes, Orlando offers plenty of hot spots. Mango’s Tropical Café features exciting live shows, dancing and world-famous beverages within a vivacious Miami-style club. Also open late is Morimoto Asia’s Forbidden Lounge, offering pan-Asian bar food and beverages well past the hours of the general restaurant. 20 | Dining and Nightlife Abu Dhabi

New Tastes For 2018 With a continuously evolving dining scene, Orlando has a lot more to bring than its world-famous theme parks and thrilling attractions. With additions such as England-based motor diner Ace Café Orlando near downtown, new industrial gothic concept The Edison at Disney’s Springs and the upcoming JINYA Ramen Bar in Thornton Park, Orlando’s explosion of unique dining concepts will continue to bring exciting flavors to the destination. Award-Winning Celebrity Chefs Years ago, Orlando’s fine dining saga sparked with a handful of celebrity chefs like Wolfgang Puck and Chef Emeril Lagasse. Today, newcomers have flocked to join them, many of whom chose Walt Disney World Resort’s Disney Springs as their home base, with restaurants including Jose Andres’ Jaleo, Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’, Chef Rick Bayless’ Frontera Cocina, Chef Masaharu Morimoto’s Morimoto Asia and Guy Fieri’s collaboration with the new Planet Hollywood Observatory.

Local Superstars As the area’s reputation for good food has developed, local chefs have also stepped up their game. The destination is the proud home of local celebrity chefs and 2017 award nominees Kathleen Blake of The Rusty Spoon and Brandon McGlamery of Luma on Park. In total, Orlando is home to 17 current award winning or nominated chefs, representing 21 restaurants between them. Other local favorites include Winter Park’s 4 Rivers Smokehouse (with multiple locations), a casual BBQ joint with a cult following. In downtown Orlando, Artisan’s Table chefs use global influences to create modern twists on classic dishes. Dove Cote Brasserie brings a French twist to downtown Orlando. In nearby Thornton Park is Chef Greg Richie’s Soco (for “Southern Contemporary Cuisine”), while in Winter Park, Boca focuses on creating savory farm-to-table dishes. Dining With A View Wake up to breath-taking views of the iconic Sydney Opera House, the Harbour Bridge or Darling Harbour each morning. Super Rico Colombian Bistro in downtown Orlando offers a taste of traditional street dishes for less than $10. With two Central Florida locations, Lazy Moon is the place to savor extraordinarily large (and cheap) pizza slices and enjoy refreshing hops on tap or by the bottle. Exotic Eats There are concentrated pockets of culture all over Orlando, offering up a variety of cuisines from Latino to Ethiopian, and Peruvian to French. Mamak Asian Street Food in the Mills 50 District celebrates Asian street fare, especially Malaysia varieties. Vegetarian And Vegan In Orlando there are limitless options for everyone. Dandelion Communitea Café offers organic teas, homemade soups, wraps, salads and more, all vegetarian and all made with Florida-grown produce. In Winter Park, Ethos Vegan Kitchen’s daily menu features hearty home-style traditional and intercontinental fare along with vegan baked goods. The Vegan Hot Dog Cart is popular with hungry Orlando visitors craving “notdogs” like Philly cheese dogs. The Sanctum Café in the Mills 50 District prepares every single item from scratch, while Heirloom Deli, a new vegan eatery coming in 2018, features plant-based comfort food. Other delicious options include Yellow Dog Eats, offering a variety of sandwiches, tacos, nachos and salads, and Walt Disney World’s Sanaa, serving salads and vegetarian specialties with an African-Indian fare. Breakfast And Brunch If bottomless beverages are a brunch deal-breaker, The Boheme at the Grand Bohemian and KASA #Restaurant & Bar in Downtown Orlando have it covered. SLATE offers farm-to-table freshness, as does The Osprey Tavern in Baldwin Park. The COOP in Winter Park brings southern comfort food to a new level with chicken, biscuits and beyond. For a decadent treat, Se7en Bites is the place to savor Salted Caramel Cinnamon Rolls on the weekend, and Skyebird Juice Bar & Experimental Kitchen at East End Market serves organic juices made on the spot. Orlando’s Signature Dish Orlando now has a new must-taste experience: a signature dessert developed to showcase the region’s culinary evolution and connection with honey. A destination-wide culinary competition involved public voting as well as a celebrity panel of judges including two-time award winner Chef Art Smith. The winning dish, “Orlando’s Honey Nougat Glacé,” is an Italian meringue prepared with honey, nougat and fruit confit, on a red berries sorbet from Chef Catherine Delrieu of Mon Petit Cheri. Be sure to try it when you visit Orlando!
