Building a centre for creativity
The Arts Centre auditorium is a striking presence as it takes shape through the oak trees and across the construction site. The theatre is going to be a stunning addition to the Arts Centre teaching building when it is opened mid-2020.
At the launch of the Grand Circle Campaign for the Arts Centre in 2015, Heather McRae said: “The Arts Centre is designed to provide visionary opportunities for across-curriculum work in a new world of design and creativity. We believe these capabilities are not only the key to the future but are now the basis for our growing knowledge economy – one where we use our creative abilities to foster invention and innovation.”
This still rings true today.
For our future generations of students who will get to perform on stage in this world-class facility, it will be a simply amazing experience; while the backstage and tech team students will have an incredible opportunity to learn about stage management while working on shows, preparing them for potential future career options while still at school.
The impact of this outstanding facility for our Diocesan community and beyond is game changing. The impact of the music, dance and drama studios in the teaching building is experienced daily at Dio, and the staff and students look forward to extending this experience through into the auditorium.
