Scrap the mayor!
Scrap the mayor!
Love Your Park Volunteer Awards:
One of our key election promises was to campaign to scrap the role of Bristol Mayor and so we are delighted to announce that we have tabled a motion to Full Council on 7 Dec calling for a binding referendum on the Mayoral system in Bristol. This system puts too much power into the hands of one person, who can ignore votes in council and routinely dodges scrutiny and accountability. Under the current occupant, the budget for the Mayor’s office has become increasingly bloated and poor decision-making (Bristol Arena, Bristol Energy, Brislington Meadows…) has cost us all dearly. It’s a system we can no longer afford. Let’s scrap the mayor, restore local democracy and end the waste. More details here: https://www.bristollibdems.org/motion-mayoral-referendum
