The Carinthian Summer Music Festival is dedicated to the promotion of up-and-coming talents and regularly gives young singers the opportunity to introduce themselves to the audience.
This year, the Israeli-Portuguese mezzo-soprano Maya Gour, who won the CS Rising Stars Award of the International Belvedere Singing Competition, will present her diverse vocal skills as part of a solo recital. She started her career as a jazz singer before turning to classical singing. She has been a member of the National Opera Studio of the Netherlands since 2020, where she has gained stage experience in operas by Donizetti, Verdi, Strauss and Bernstein. The wide-ranging abilities of her voice truly come to the fore in the programme she has put together for this concert.

She expertly combines the smooth Bel Canto of Rossini with jazzy numbers by Weill with the sound of Israeli folk songs. Maya Gour will be accompanied by the Australian conductor and pianist Lochlan Brown, who has worked at opera houses in Australia, North America, Italy and Lithuania and is currently an accompanist at the National Opera Studio of the Netherlands. n
