At the beginning of the 19th century, the Vienna Congress sets about the task of restructuring Europe. All dignities and high-ranking personalities come together in Vienna: these are good times for the artful jewelers and goldsmiths of the capital of the imperial empire. At that time, the goldsmith Emanuel Pioté, who came from the region of Limoges, had already spent some years in Vienna. The entry of Jakob Heinrich Köchert in1819 rings in the birth of one of the most renowned jewelers of Vienna and the first chapter of a unique entrepreneurial success story.

Diamonds For The Emperor

The two jewelers become partners, and the firm is run under the name Pioté et Köchert. They receive the first imperial order and soon thereafter, the coveted title of “imperial court jeweler”, giving the company a further boost.

The End Of An Epoch

At the end of the 19th century, the interest in decor and color experiences a revival in Vienna. In addition to the imperial house, aristocrats and noble citizens are among the store‘s regular customers. The last chamber jeweler of the monarchy is regarded as a masterful representative of Austrian goldsmithing. The political upheaval in Austria challenges the company to maintain the tradition and unmistakable style of the house while adapting to the new social conditions.

Fine Art And Precious Stones

After World War II, the Köcherts master the transition to the new era and strengthen their reputation as a company. A.E. Köchert Jewelers specializes in genuine top-class gemstones and classic jewels.

Toward the end of the 20th century, the next generation takes over the company’s activities. They are able to continue the tradition of exquisite goldsmithing and gemstone expertise, while simultaneously bringing in fresh new ideas. Under the leadership of Wolfgang, Christoph and − since 2005 also their brother Florian − A.E. Köchert is expanding: A store in Salzburg is will complement the flagship store in Vienna. Thus, today’s new generation of management sets another milestone in the company’s history almost 200 years after its foundation by Emanuel Pioté and Jakob Heinrich Köchert.
