tes the Earth Crea d o Genesis 1:1–19
Before creation, everything was dark and quiet. Then God shouted, “Let there be light!” Instantly, beams of light flashed across the black darkness. The second day God said, “Let there be sky!” Fresh air, puffy clouds, and blue sky appeared. The third day God said, “Let there be land!” Hills and valleys pushed above the water. God decorated the land with colorful plants, trees, and flowers. The fourth day God lit the sky! The sun shone, the moon glowed, and millions of stars twinkled. God was pleased. Everything He had made was good!

The sixth day God said, “Let there be animals!” Soon, amazing creatures of all shapes and sizes hopped through forests, galloped across fields, and crawled on rocks. God blessed the fish, birds, and animals. “Swim, fly, and run!” He told them. “Fill the seas, skies, and land.” God’s new world buzzed with life—and the Lord loved it! Everything He had made was good.
God is joyful! God made living creatures to enjoy the earth. Can you run, skip, and hop like the animals God made?

The sixth day of creation, God carefully shaped a head, body, arms, and legs from the soft soil. When the Lord breathed into the shape, it became alive! “Your name is Adam,” God told the man. God showed Adam how to grow food. Then Adam named all the amazing animals. While the man was sleeping, God took a rib from Adam’s side and made Eve, the first woman. The Lord God was very happy. Adam and Eve were like Him. They were very good!

He’ll be a great King—God’s very own Son!” “How is this possible?” Mary asked. “God can do anything!” Gabriel explained. “I’ll do whatever God wants,” Mary answered. Then the angel disappeared.
