MASI MUSEO D’ARTE DELLA SVIZZERA ITALIANA

The Museo d’arte della Svizzera Italiana is the result of a merger between the Museo Cantonale d’Arte and Lugano’s Museo d’Arte. At LAC, the exhibitions focus on modern and contemporary art, whilst in Palazzo Reali – previously home to the Museo Cantonale d’Arte, currently closed due to renovation – artworks cover the period from the beginning of the fifteenth century to the early twentieth century.

Il Museo d’arte della Svizzera italiana, Lugano nasce dall’unione del Museo Cantonale d’Arte e del Museo d’Arte di Lugano. Al LAC propone linee espositive volte ad approfondire l’arte moderna e contemporanea e le sue collezioni, a Palazzo Reali – storica sede del Museo Cantonale, attualmente chiusa per ristrutturazione – presenta opere che spaziano dagli inizi del Quattrocento fino alla prima metà del Novecento.

Das Museo d’arte della Svizzera italiana ist aus der Verschmelzung des kantonalen Kunstmuseums und des Kunstmuseums Lugano entstanden.

Im LAC finden Ausstellungen zur Vertiefung der Kunst des 20. Jh., der zeitgenössischen Kunst und der Sammlungen statt. Im Palazzo Reali – ehemaliger Sitz des kantonalen Kunstmuseums, wegen Renovierung geschlossen – sind Werke aus dem Zeitraum frühes 15. Jh. bis Mitte 20. Jh. zu sehen.

Les activités du Musée d’art de la Suisse italienne se répartissent sur deux lieux: le LAC accueille des expositions consacrées à l’art moderne et contemporain, tandis que le Palazzo Reali – anciennement siège du Musée Cantonal, fermé pour restructuration – expose des oeuvres d’art du début XVème jusqu’à la première moitié du XXème siècle.

Art historian Maurice Rheims, appointed by the French state to document the personal belongings of Picasso, discovered more than 60,000 unknown pieces. This is the backdrop to the exhibition which collates artworks that have seldom been seen by the public. The selection highlights outstandingly fine sculptures and precious works on paper.

Lo storico dell’arte Maurice Rheims, incaricato dallo Stato francese di catalogare i beni personali di Picasso alla morte dell’artista, scoprì oltre 60’000 opere sconosciute. In questo contesto di scoperta, s’inserisce la mostra che mette in luce aspetti meno noti dell’arte picassiana, dando risalto a sculture di rara bellezza e preziose opere su carta.

Der Kunsthistoriker Maurice Rheims wurde vom französischen Staat beauftragt, nach Picassos Tod dessen persönliches Eigentum zu katalogisieren. Dabei entdeckte er über 60.000 unbekannte Werke, die auch weniger bekannte Aspekte von Picassos Kunst zum Vorschein brachten. Diesen Aspekten widmet sich die Ausstellung, an der Skulpturen von seltener Schönheit und kostbare Arbeiten auf Papier zu sehen sind.

L’historien de l’art Maurice Rheims, chargé par l’État français de cataloguer les biens personnels de Picasso à sa mort, a découvert plus de 60 000 œuvres inconnues. L’exposition s’insère dans ce contexte de découverte exceptionnelle et révèle des aspects moins connus de l’oeuvre de Picasso. On y découvre des sculptures d’une rare beauté et des oeuvres précieuses sur papier.

This wide-ranging retrospective dedicated to the Swiss photographer Balthasar Burkhard displays nearly 200 large format photographs and many videos and books illustrating the work and the creative journey embarked on by an artist who viewed the human body as a sculpture and photography as paintings.

Die umfangreiche Retrospektive, die dem Schweizer Fotografen Balthasar Burkhard gewidmet ist, präsentiert rund 200 grossformatige Fotografien, zahlreiche Videos und Bücher, die von der Arbeit und dem kreativen Weg des Künstlers zeugen, der den Körper als bildhauerisches Objekt und das fotografische Bild als Gemälde interpretiert hat.

The Spazio –1 hosts more than 100 contemporary artworks from the collection loaned to the City of Lugano by Giancarlo and Danna Olgiati. Like a Schaulager, –1 opens to the public periodically. To view the collection and temporary installations, an appointment has to be made.

The Spazio –1 presents a new installation in the Collezione Olgiati. You’ll be able to see the works that visitors are already familiar with alongside other more recent acquisitions; this constant dialogue is what underlies the collectors’ desire to convey their selections and their emotions, thereby clarifying their idea of “A Collection in Progress”.

Lo Spazio –1 presenta un nuovo allestimento della Collezione Olgiati. Si potranno ammirare opere già note al visitatore affiancate da altre di recente acquisizione; è attraverso questo costante dialogo che si esplicita la volontà dei collezionisti di trasmettere le loro scelte ed emozioni, chiarendo così cosa significa per loro “A Collection in Progress”.

Da “Sotto la ruota” allo Zen Hermann Hesse e il Giappone

Hermann Hesse got acquainted with Japan and the spiritual world of Zen Buddhism rather late in life. On the other hand, in Japan, Hesse’s works were translated very early, achieving a wide circulation and his books are still popular. Since his work mainly explores the problems of youth, Hesse’s influence also affects youth media such as manga.

Hermann Hesse si avvicina tardi al Giappone e al mondo spirituale del buddismo. In Giappone invece, le opere di Hesse vengono subito tradotte ottenendo un’ampia diffusione. Grazie a temi come i problemi degli adolescenti, l’influenza di Hesse è tale da riflettersi anche nei manga, amati dai giovani.

De “L’ornière” au Zen Hermann Hesse et le Japon

Hermann Hesse hat sich erst im Alter näher mit Japan und der geistigen Welt des Zen-Buddhismus beschäftigt. In Japan wiederum wurden die Werke Hesses schon früh publiziert und erreichen bis heute hohe Auflagen. Es sind vor allem Schilderungen der Nöte Jugendlicher, die auch in jüngeren Medien wie dem Manga zu finden ist.

Hermann Hesse s’intéresse tardivement au Japon et au monde spirituel du bouddhisme Zen. En revanche, les oeuvres de Hesse sont rapidement traduites au Japon et y sont largement diffusées. Avec les thèmes qu’il aborde, tels que les problèmes liés à l’adolescence, l’influence de Hesse se reflète jusque dans les mangas très appréciés des jeunes.

Collina d’Oro primary school students have explored the fascinating world of Haiku, a traditional form of Japanese poetry. They have composed and illustrated Haikus inspired by Hermann Hesse, and will be showing them in an exhibition, curated by them at the Museum Hermann Hesse.

Gli allievi di due classi della Scuola elementare di Collina d’Oro si sono dedicati al tema dell’Haiku, una forma di poesia tradizionale giapponese. Hanno composto e illustrato i propri Haiku ispirandosi a Hermann Hesse, e li presentano in una mostra da loro curata al Museo Hermann Hesse.

S’exposer – vivre le musée en tant que protagoniste: Haiku sur les arbres

Zwei Klassen der Grundschule der Collina d’Oro widmen sich dem Thema Haiku, einer traditionellen japanischen Gedichtform. Die Schüler haben eigene, von Hermann Hesse inspirierte Haikus geschrieben und illustriert und präsentieren diese in einer von ihnen selbst gestalteten Ausstellung.

Les élèves de deux classes de l’école élémentaire de Collina d’Oro ont travaillé sur l’haiku, forme de poésie traditionnelle japonaise. Ils ont composé et illustré leurs propres haikus en s’inspirant de Hermann Hesse et ont organisé une exposition au musée pour les présenter.

The focus is on Italian and international art of the 20th Century. Having extended its interests from the ethnic to the oriental arts up to the anthropological interpretation of the work of art, the new MUSEC reopens to the public in the center of the city with a fully renewed style. A rich program of exhibitions and events will take place from May 2018.

Con uno stile completamente rinnovato, riapre al pubblico in centro città il nuovo MUSEC, che negli anni ha esteso i suoi interessi dalle arti etniche alle arti orientali e alla lettura antropologica dell’opera d’arte. Un ricco programma di esposizioni ed eventi è proposto ai visitatori a partire da maggio 2018.

D Das MUSEC im Stadtzentrum zeigt sich der Öffentlichkeit in völlig neuem Kleid. Im Laufe der Jahre hat das Museum sein Kernthema ethnische Kunst erweitert und umfasst heute auch orientalische Kunst und anthropologische Aspekte der Kunst. Ab Mai 2018 erwartet das Publikum ein umfang-reiches Ausstellungs- und Veranstaltungsprogramm.

The temporary exhibition guides the visitor through an astonishing journey into the world of these valiant Japanese warriors. It comprises a selection of about fifty pieces including samurai armour, albumen silver prints from the Yokohama School of photography, woodcut ukiyo-e prints and precious swords and bladed weapons.

L’esposizione temporanea accompagna il visitatore attraverso un sorprendente percorso incentrato sulla storia dei valorosi guerrieri giapponesi, con una selezione di circa cinquanta opere tra armature di samurai, fotografie all’albumina della Scuola di Yokohama, stampe xilografiche ukiyo-e e preziose armi bianche.

Die temporäre Ausstellung führt den Besucher auf eine überraschende Reise in die Geschichte der tapferen japanischen Krieger. Zu sehen sind etwa 50 Kunstwerke, darunter Samurai-Rüstungen, Fotografien auf Albuminpapier der Yokohama Schule, Ukiyo-e Holzdrucke und wertvolle weisse Waffen.

The Gypsotheque Gianluigi Giudici museum was conceived, promoted and created by the Renato and Gianluigi Giudici Foundation. It was established to conserve, promote and spread awareness of the works of the sculptor Gianluigi Giudici of Como, who spent much of his working life in Switzerland.

Gipsoteca Gianluigi Giudici, un museo promosso e realizzato dalla Fondazione Renato e Gianluigi Giudici, costituita con lo scopo di assicurare la conservazione, la promozione delle opere dello scultore comasco Gianluigi Giudici che ha molto operato in Svizzera e nel Canton Ticino, oltre che di attuare iniziative di carattere culturale ed educativo.

Das Gipsfigurenkabinett Gianluigi Giudici wurde von der Stiftung “Renato e Gianluigi Giudici” ins Leben gerufen, mit dem Zweck, die Erhaltung und Verbreitung der Werke des Bildhauers Gianluigi Giudici aus Como zu gewährleisten. Der Künstler war regelmässig in der Schweiz und im Tessin tätig und förderte diverse Kultur- und Bildungsinitiativen.

To this end and to encourage local roots, the Museum operates as a place for meetings and cultural exchanges.

Il Museo Villa Pia a Porza nasce dalla Fondazione d’Arte Erich Lindenberg, costituita nel 2008 da Mareen Koch per conservare e far conoscere il percorso artistico di Lindenberg (Gronau 1938 – Berlino 2006). A questo scopo e per favorire il radicamento nel territorio, il Museo è attivo come luogo di incontri e scambi culturali.

Das Museum Villa Pia in Porza wurde von Mareen Koch nach der Gründung der Kunststiftung Erich Lindenberg realisiert, um das künstlerische Werk Lindenbergs (Gronau 1938 – Berlin 2006) zu bewahren und bekannt zu machen. Located in the centre of the village of Brè, the Museum is dedicated to works by the painter Wilhelm Schmid, an exponent of the German New Objectivity school from the 20s. He moved to Ticino in 1937.

The collection documents the important stages of his artistic development, marked by simplified forms, plain colours and strong luminosity.

Situato nel nucleo di Brè, il Museo è dedicato all’opera del pittore Wilhelm Schmid, esponente della Nuova Oggettività tedesca negli anni venti, trasferitosi in Ticino nel 1937. Il percorso espositivo documenta i momenti principali della sua evoluzione artistica, caratterizzata da una pittura dalle forme semplificate, dal colore appiattito e da violenti accenti luministici.

Das mitten im Dorf Brè gelegene Museum ist dem Werk von Wilhelm Schmid gewidmet, einem Vertreter der deutschen Neuen Sachlichkeit der 20er Jahre, der sich 1937 im Tessin niederliess. Die Sammlung zeigt seine künstlerische Entwicklung, die von vereinfachten Formen, schlichten Farbtönen und starken Lichtakzenten geprägt ist.

A professional painter, a meticulous painter in his choice of favourite subjects: very detailed landscapes particularly in the strokes and clear-cut colours, then, gradually, delicate nuances appear, with a poorlyconcealed propensity for nostalgic melancholy that, over time, does not wither the prolific garden of his memory.

Pittore professionista, puntiglioso nella scelta dei suoi temi preferiti: paesaggi dapprima molto dettagliati nel tratto e nel colore netto, poi, via via, appaiono sfumature delicate, con propensione malcelata ad una malinconica nostalgia che, col passare del tempo, non inaridisce il giardino prolifico della sua memoria.

Lieblingsmotiv des Berufsmalers sind Landschaften, die er sehr gewissenhaft angeht. Zuerst sind die Konturen scharf, die Farben klar. Dann gehen sie in sanfte Schattierungen über, die zu einer offenkundig wehmütigen Sehnsucht neigen. Trotzdem bringt der fruchtbare Garten seiner Erinnerungen über die Jahre hinweg immer wieder neue Blüten hervor.

This fascinating exhibition gives us an idea of fishing from prehistoric times to today, touching upon several subjects like boat construction, the fish trade, the production of fishing nets, fish species found in our rivers and lakes, ancient fishing techniques, all this, in a relaxing environment close to the lake shore.

The “Museo della Miniera” is unique in Ticino, a rarity which is not to be missed. It showcases the “Beppe Zanetti” archive and boasts a reading room where books and documents can be consulted and where ancient mining artefacts are on display. A mining tunnel has also been reconstructed.

Il Museo della Miniera costituisce un “Unicum” per il Ticino, un’autentica rarità da non perdere.

Ospita l’archivio “Beppe Zanetti” con sala lettura per la consultazione di libri e documenti, accesso a Internet gratuito, oggetti, reperti minerari e la ricostruzione di una galleria.

Das “Museo della Miniera” ist ein “Unikum” für den Kanton Tessin. Eine wahre Rarität. Das Museum beherbergt das Archiv “Beppe Zanetti” mit einem Leseraum zur Einsicht der Bücher und Dokumente, diverse Objekte und Fundstücke aus dem Bergbau sowie die Rekonstruktion eines Stollens.

Le musée de la mine constitue un « Unicum » pour le Tessin, une véritable rareté qu’il ne faut absolument pas manquer. Il abrite les archives « Beppe Zanetti » et offre une salle de lecture pour la consultation des livres et des documents, un accès gratuit à Internet, des objets, des minéraux et la reconstitution d’un tunnel.

The Ciani Brothers’ residence reopens its gates and welcomes visitors on a virtual tour that allows them to see the original furnishings and equipment, and to savour the atmosphere of the period. Using smart glasses, the visit takes 30 minutes and can be enjoyed in Italian, French, German and English.

La dimora dei fratelli Ciani riapre le porte e accoglie i visitatori in un tour virtuale che permette di vedere gli arredi originali e di assaporare l’atmosfera dell’epoca. La visita con gli smartglass, della durata di 30 minuti, è disponibile in italiano, francese, tedesco e inglese.

LuganoInScena offers a programme which runs the gamut from prose theatre to contemporary theatre, from national and international dance spectacles to musical programme and successful musical; it has played host to leading figures from the world of theatre and works closely with local artists. The range of performances on offer is addressed to as vast audience as possibile, combining experimentation and tradition. From 2015 LAC Arts Centre allows LuganoInScena to produce and coproduction prose and dance spectacles, that after tour to other Theatre.

Among the great European festivals, the FIT Festival Internazionale del Teatro e della scena contemporanea welcomes the big names of the international scene, with a particular attention to the contemporary one. Ten days of theater, performance, dance, devoted to innovation and hybridization of languages, artistic and design modalities outside of customs and conventions.

Many side events and, among these, the appreciated “Conversations”, meetings after show with the artists, to bring a wider and more transversal audience.

Tra i grandi festival europei, il FIT Festival Internazionale del Teatro e della scena contemporanea accoglie i grandi nomi della scena internazionale, con un’attenzione particolare alla contemporaneità. Dieci giorni di teatro, performance, danza, votati all’innovazione e all’ibridazione dei linguaggi, a modalità artistiche e progettuali al di fuori delle consuetudini e delle convenzioni. A musical season dedicated primarily to classical music but open to other art forms as well. The programme features the world’s leading symphony orchestras performing repertoires intended for large orchestras and hence with very wide expressive ranges. LuganoMusica events are held throughout the year and organised into various cycles including recitals, chamber music concerts and a cycle dedicated to the new generation of performers and various forms of contemporary music.

Ospita le più importanti orchestre sinfoniche del mondo a esibirsi in repertori votati al più ampio organico orchestrale, e quindi alla più ampia varietà espressiva. Il programma esteso sull’arco di un anno e articolato in vari cicli, presenta inoltre récital, concerti di musica da camera, un ciclo dedicato alla nuova generazione d’interpreti e diverse musiche contemporanee.

Die Konzertsaison widmet sich vorwiegend der klassischen Musik, steht aber auch anderen Kunstformen offen. Die bedeutendsten Sinfonieorchester der Welt treten hier auf, deren Repertoire für grosse Orchesterbesetzungen geschrieben wurde und somit eine umfassende Ausdrucksvielfalt mit sich bringt. Das ganzjährige Programm ist in mehrere Zyklen aufgeteilt und bietet auch Rezitals, Kammermusikkonzerte, eine Bühne für junge angehende Musiker sowie für zeitgenössische Musik.

Saison musicale dédiée principalement à la musique classique et ouverte à d’autres formes artistiques. La manifestation accueille les plus grands orchestres symphoniques du monde qui interprètent des répertoires voués aux plus grandes formations et donc aux variations d’interprétation. Le programme qui se déroule tout au long de l’année se divise en divers cycles : un cycle de récitals et concerts de musique de chambre, un cycle dédié aux nouvelles générations d’interprètes et musiques contemporaines.

Within the international landscape, OSI has been able to carve itself out a reputation as one of Europe’s leading orchestras. Under its principal conductor, Markus Poschner, OSI brings great pleasure to audiences and expert critics alike. OSI is one of the 14 professional orchestras in Switzerland and its performances are divided between regional concert seasons, local initiatives and other concerts throughout Switzerland and abroad. The orchestra has successfully partnered with some of the world’s most renowned conductors and soloists and has performed in many of the leading concert halls.

Since 2015 it has been LAC’s resident orchestra.

Nel panorama internazionale l’OSI ha saputo qualificarsi come orchestra di punta a livello europeo.

Con il suo direttore principale Markus Poschner ha infiammato il pubblico e la critica più autorevole. È una delle 14 formazioni professionali in Svizzera; divide la sua attività tra stagioni concertistiche regionali, iniziative per la popolazione, collaborazioni e concerti in trasferta nel resto della Svizzera e all’estero. Collabora con i grandi nomi del panorama direttoriale e con i più celebri solisti; si esibisce nelle più importanti sale concertistiche.

Dal 2015 è l’Orchestra residente del LAC.

D Das Orchester der Italienischen Schweiz OSI konnte sich im internationalen Rahmen als europäisches Orchester einen Namen machen. Mit seinem Hauptdirigenten Markus Poschner hat es beim Publikum und bei der einschlägigen Presse gleichermassen Begeisterung ausgelöst. Als eines der 14 Berufsorchester der Schweiz besteht seine Tätigkeit in regionalen Konzertreihen, Initiativen für die Bevölkerung, gemeinsamen Auftritten sowie Konzerten in der Schweiz und im Ausland. Es arbeitet mit bekannten Dirigenten und berühmten Solisten zusammen und spielt in den bedeutendsten Konzertsälen.

Seit 2015 hat das Orchester seinen Sitz im LAC.

F Dans le panorama international, l’OSI a su se faire reconnaitre au niveau européen comme un orchestre de très haute qualité. Avec son directeur principal Markus Poschner, cette formation a su enchanter le public et la critique la plus influente. C’est un des 14 orchestres professionnels de Suisse. Ses activités se divisent entre saisons de concerts régionales, initiatives pour la population, collaborations et concerts dans les autres régions de Suisse et à l’étranger. L’OSI collabore avec les plus grands directeurs d’orchestre et les plus grands solistes, et se produit dans les salles de concert les plus prestigieuses. Depuis 2015, l’orchestre est résident du LAC.
