Die Geschichte der Tessiner Architektur hat ihre Wurzeln im Mittelalter; eine Kultur, die sich über die Jahrhunderte erneuert hat. Diese Exkursion bietet die Gelegenheit, einige der wichtigsten Bauten des 20. und 21. Jahrhunderts am Luganersee von Chiattone zu Vacchini, von Tami zu Botta bis zum Campus der USI kennenzulernen. The residence of the Brothers Ciani reopens the gates and welcomes visitors to an augmented reality tour that enables to see the original furnishing and equipment, and to savor the atmosphere of the period. The visit takes 30 minutes and is available in Italian, French, German and English.

On the hunt for an imaginary fox you will be rewarded with breathtaking views over Monte Brè and Monte San Salvatore. A wonderful tour of the city on board of the friendly tourist train, “the red Arrow”, travelling along the lake gulf will allow you to discover the highlights of the city and its surroundings as well as Monte Brè and Monte San Salvatore funiculars. The Town Council of Montagnola set up a footpath which takes to Hesse’s favourite places, passing by the houses where he lived, and ending to the cemetery where he is buried. Audio guides in German and Italian are available for the walking tour which follows the tracks of Hermann Hesse and providing information on all the artistic attractions and other tourist spots of the Collina d’Oro.

The Malcantone has a subsoil rich in minerals, and various metals such as iron, lead, silver, and gold, extracted already in the 18th century. This tunnel, known as the “Leonilde”, is now open to the public to explore the spectacular and characteristic elements of the mining world. The Sessa mine is unique, offering the only possibility to experience the history of the extraction of gold minerals in Switzerland.

Die Hauptstolle „Leonilde“ erlaubt die interessanten und spektakulären Techniken aus der Welt des Bergbaus zu entdecken. In der Schweiz ist heute die Mine von Sessa das einzige Beispiel dieser Art von Goldgewinnung.
