With its lake and valleys, Lugano offers so many great reasons for a stay. Lugano owes much of its success as a tourist destination to its temperate climate, moderated by the presence of the lake, with mild winters and an abundance of sunny days. The landscape has not been spoilt by excessive urbanisation, and its natural blend of summits, mountain, valleys, hills and lowland makes Lugano a wonderful place in any season, offering a wide range of activities: mountain biking and mountain climbing, bathing in lakes and swimming pools, tennis or golf, sailing, windsurfing, water-skiing, walking through virtually unspoilt countryside and villages, as well as essential business and shopping. The region of Lugano also offers many museums, a constant stream of concerts and events, and the opportunity to enjoy magnificent outdoor architecture.

Lugano con il lago e le sue valli propone un ventaglio ampio e articolato di motivi per un soggiorno. Gran parte delle fortune turistiche derivano dal clima temperato, favorito dalla presenza di stagioni miti e da un’alta percentuale di giornate soleggiate. Around Lugano, scattered along the shores of the lake and up in the mountains, you will find many villages. Some easier to find than others. Elegant arcades, frescoed churches, skilled craftsmen and picturesque streets: Each location offers you unique, authentic memories.

Attorno a Lugano, disseminati tra le rive del lago e le montagne, si trovano molti villaggi. Alcuni più facili da trovare, altri più nascosti. Eleganti portici, chiese affrescate, artigiani appassionati e contrade pittoresche: ogni località offre diverse unicità e si fa ricordare per la sua autenticità.

MORCOTE

Due to its natural beauty, its long arcades and old patrician houses, Morcote is known as “the pearl of lake Lugano”. Worth visiting is the Church of Santa Maria del Sasso and the Parco Scherrer with its typical southern vegetation and architectural style. Morcote is about 10 km from Lugano and can be reached by boat, car and post-bus.

Con le sue bellezze naturali, le caratteristiche stradine e i portici delle antiche case patrizie, Morcote viene considerata “La perla del Ceresio”. Di rilevante interesse sono la Chiesa di S. Maria del Sasso ed il Parco Scherrer con vegetazione mediterranea e palazzine architettoniche. Morcote si trova a 10 km da Lugano ed è raggiungibile in automobile, autopostale ed in battello.

GANDRIA

Gandria is an unspoilt, picturesque lakeside village at the foot of Monte Brè. Perched on the steep mountainside it is a community of narrow streets with a delightful surprise round every corner. Gandria can be reached by boat, by bus, by car or by foot, along the lakeside in 30 minutes, taking the path from Castagnola-San Domenico towards Gandria.

Romantico villaggio di pescatori, arroccato ai piedi del Monte Brè, offre al visitatore uno stupendo panorama. Chiusa al traffico, Gandria è un’oasi di tranquillità con le sue pittoresche viuzze e scalette. È raggiungibile in automobile, in battello, in bus oppure a piedi da Castagnola-San Domenico percorrendo in mezz’ora un facile sentiero che costeggia il lago.

Rund um Lugano liegen zahlreiche Dörfer zwischen Seeufer und Berghängen verstreut. Einige sind leicht zu finden, andere liegen etwas abseits. Elegante Lauben, Kirchen mit wunderschönen Fresken, leidenschaftliche Handwerker und malerische Gassen: Jedes Dorf ist einmalig und verzaubert durch seine Authentizität.

Lugano est entourée de nombreux villages disséminés sur les rives du lac et les flancs des montagnes. Certains bien cachés et d’autres plus faciles à trouver. Arcades élégantes, églises ornées de fresques, artisans passionnés et ruelles pittoresques : chaque village est unique et se distingue par son authenticité.

Dank seinen Schönheiten, den Laubengängen und den reich verzierten Fassaden der Patrizierhäuser ist Morcote als “die Perle des Luganersees” bekannt. Die Kirche Santa Maria del Sasso und der Parco Scherrer mit seiner mediterranen Vegetation und den speziellen Bauwerken sind auf jeden Fall einen Besuch wert. Morcote befindet sich ca. 10 km von Lugano entfernt und ist per Schiff, Auto und Postauto erreichbar.

En raison de ses paysages, ses ruelles et ses anciennes demeures à arcades, Morcote est appelée la « Perle du Ceresio ». L’église Santa Maria del Sasso et le Parc Scherrer avec sa végétation méditerranéenne et ses constructions architecturales, sont d’un grand intérêt. Morcote se trouve à 10 km au sud de lugano, on peut s’y rendre en bateau, voiture ou car postal.

GANDRIA Das malerische Fischerdorf ist verkehrsfrei, voller Treppen und winkligen Gässchen und mit Souvenirläden und Terrassenrestaurants versehen. Gandria liegt am östlichen Ufer des verzweigten Luganersees und ist per Schiff, Bus, Auto oder in einem halbstündigen Uferspaziergang ab Castagnola-San Domenico erreichbar.

GANDRIA Ce village romantique de pêcheurs, accroché au pied du Monte Brè, offre au visiteur un magnifique panorama. Fermé à la circulation, Gandria avec ses ruelles et ses escaliers pittoresques est une oasis de paix. On peut s’y rendre en bateau, en bus ou à pied de Castagnola-San Domenico en marchant une trentaine de minutes le long du sentier qui côtoie le lac.

Una città che è un tutt’uno con lo splendido territorio che la circonda, Lugano è un sogno diventato realtà per chi ama divertirsi tra lago e montagna. Le acque del Ceresio si prestano perfettamente al windsurf, alla vela, al kite surf, allo stand up paddle e allo sci d’acqua: accedere al lago è facile grazie ai lidi del luganese, dove le attività sportive e il divertimento sembrano non finire mai. Le montagne circostanti sono gremite di sentieri escursionistici di vari livelli e di itinerari per chi ama percorrere i pendii in bicicletta. Tutto è assolutamente a portata di mano e pronto a essere scoperto: lo sport è una parte integrante della città, che numerose volte durante l’anno organizza eventi sportivi di grande successo come traversate del lago, camminate urbane e non, corse podistiche e tanto altro.

Eine Stadt, die mit ihrer herrlichen Umgebung verschmelzt – das ist Lugano. Hier wird der Traum vom Glück zwischen See und Bergen wahr. Der Luganersee scheint wie gemacht für Windsurfing, Segeln, Kitesurfen, Stand up Paddling und Wasserski. Zugang zum See findet man leicht dank den diversen Strandbädern, wo sich alles um Wassersport und Unterhaltung dreht. Die umliegenden Berge sind gespickt mit Wanderwegen unterschiedlicher Schwierigkeitsgrade sowie mit rassigen Trails für Mountainbike-Liebhaber. Alles zum Greifen nah und bereit, erforscht zu werden. Sport ist ein fester Bestandteil von Lugano, wo jährlich mehrere erfolgreiche Sport-Events stattfinden wie zum Beispiel die Seeüberquerung, Stadtläufe und andere Rennen.

Les eaux du Ceresio se prêtent parfaitement au windsurf, à la voile, au kitesurf, au paddle et au ski nautique : accéder au lac est facile grâce aux lidos du Luganais où les activités sportives et le divertissement semblent sans fin. Les montagnes environnantes abritent de multiples sentiers de randonnée de différents niveaux de difficulté et de nombreux itinéraires pour ceux qui aiment dévaler les pentes en VTT. Tout est à portée de main et prêt à être découvert : le sport est partie intégrante de la ville qui, plusieurs fois par an, organise des manifestations sportives de grand succès telles que la traversée du lac, les randonnées dans la ville et ses alentours, des courses à pied et bien d’autres choses encore.

Lugano offers a different shopping experience, one which can best be lived in slow motion. The well-lit shop windows in Lugano’s old central district which are painstakingly tended, are highly inviting and you’ll be sorely tempted to find time to enjoy some shopping. With their elegant porticos and quaint little piazzas, Via Nassa and Via Pessina have become a cult destination for shoppers seeking designer labels. These streets are surrounded by beautiful historic buildings whilst every so often at the end of the street you’ll notice the lake twinkling in the sun. Outside Lugano, the small specialised shops in Morcote, set beneath the arches of “Switzerland’s most beautiful village” beckon those looking for fine local products: salami, cheeses or local crafts. And of course, if you crave intense shopping sessions, shopping centres on the outskirts of town are easy to reach.

Un’esperienza di shopping diversa, da vivere a ritmo rallentato: le vetrine del centro storico di Lugano, illuminate e ben curate, invitano ad entrare nei negozi, a prendersi il tempo di godersi l’acquisto. Via Nassa e Via Pessina, con i loro portici e le loro graziose piazzette, sono un luogo cult per chi ama fare shopping griffato circondato dalla bellezza dei palazzi d’epoca, con il lago che fa capolino di tanto in tanto in fondo alla strada. Lontane dal centro, le botteghe di Morcote, incastonate sotto gli archi del “Villaggio più bello della Svizzera” ammiccano a chi cerca prodotti locali, sia salumi e formaggi da portare in tavola, sia articoli di artigianato della regione. Non mancano ovviamente i centri commerciali, decentrati e comodi da raggiungere, per sessioni di shopping davvero intense.

Eine andere Art von Shopping, langsam und gemächlich. Die warm beleuchteten Schaufenster im alten Stadtkern von Lugano mit der geschmackvoll ausgelegten Ware laden zum Eintreten ein, um sich in aller Ruhe umzusehen und beraten zu lassen. Via Nassa und via Pessina mit ihren Laubengängen und hübschen Plätzen sind ein Paradies für alle, die exklusive Markenartikel suchen, umgeben von den hübschen Fassaden der stattlichen Altstadthäuser, zwischen denen da und dort der nahegelegene See glitzert. Ausserhalb der Stadt, in Morcote, “dem schönsten Dorf der Schweiz”, findet man kleine Läden unter den Bögen mit Lokalprodukten wie Salami und Käse sowie regionales Kunsthandwerk. Nicht zu vergessen die Einkaufszentren. Sie sind gut erreichbar und bieten alles, was das Herz begehrt.

Une expérience de shopping, différente, à vivre en toute tranquillité : les vitrines des magasins du centre historique de Lugano, illuminées et très soignées, vous invitent à entrer, à prendre votre temps et à vous faire plaisir. Via Nassa et Via Pessina, avec leurs arcades et leurs jolies petites places, sont des lieux cultes pour ceux qui aiment faire du shopping de marque au milieu de belles demeures d’époque et avec le lac qui, de temps à autre, surgit au fond de la rue. Loin du centre, les boutiques de Morcote, nichées sous les arcades du « plus beau village de Suisse » font de l’œil à celui qui cherche des produits locaux, tels que charcuteries et fromages mais aussi articles d’artisanat de la région. Evidemment, les centres commerciaux, excentrés mais faciles à atteindre, pour des moments de shopping intenses, ne manquent pas !

Lugano is a city to experience even in the evening. After sunset the city lights up and comes alive, offering a thousand ways to spend a pleasant evening full of fun. After an aperitif by the lake or in one of the countless bars, after dinner you can sip a drink in one of the many piano bars or go wild in the disco until the early hours.

Lugano è una città da vivere anche di sera. Dopo il tramonto la città si accende e si anima, proponendo mille modi per passare una serata piacevole all’insegna del divertimento. Dopo un aperitivo in riva al lago o in uno dei tanti locali, nel dopo cena si può sorseggiare un drink in uno dei tanti piano bar o scatenarsi in discoteca fino alle ore piccole.

Lugano hat auch abends einiges zu bieten. Nach Sonnenuntergang gehen die Lichter an und es kommt Leben in die Stadt. Es gibt zahlreiche Möglichkeiten, einen angenehmen, unterhaltsamen Abend zu verbringen. Nach einem Aperitif am See oder in einer der vielen Bars kann man sich nach dem Abendessen einen Drink in einer Piano-Bar genehmigen oder bis in die frühen Morgenstunden in der Disco tanzen.

The region of Lugano hosts numerous events all year round, catering to the widest range of tastes. The winter season is marked by performances and concerts in various halls, while from spring to autumn the fun is mainly outdoors. During the summer, concerts, music for all tastes, literature, entertainment, theatre, dance, movie, shows for children and urban art installations invade the streets, squares and public parks, transforming the city into an intense meeting of artists, public, entertainment and culture seekers. In the evening Lugano offers an abundance of restaurants, bars, discos and clubs that are just waiting to be discovered.

La regione di Lugano ospita numerosi eventi durante tutto l’arco dell’anno che soddisfano un ampio spettro di gusti. La stagione invernale è caratterizzata da performances e concerti nei teatri e nelle sale del territorio, mentre dalla primavera all’autunno il divertimento è all’aperto. Lugano is extremely easy to reach with several means of public and private transportation. It is situated in Ticino, an alpine Canton which is completely included within the perimeter of the territory of application of the Convention of the Alps. Lugano is, furthermore, in a strategic geographic position on the main rail- and motorway network which makes a wide range of very important alpine passes along the South –North axis easily accessible; these include: the Novena, the S. Gottardo, the Lucomagno, the S. Bernardino, the Spluga and the Maloia passes.

Situata in Ticino, un Cantone alpino interamente incluso nel perimetro del territorio di applicazione della Convenzione delle Alpi, Lugano si trova in una posizione geografica strategica. Posizionata sul passaggio della principale arteria ferroviaria e autostradale permette di raggiungere agevolmente un ampio ventaglio di valichi alpini importanti per il passaggio lungo l’asse sudnord: la Novena, il S. Gottardo, il Lucomagno, il S. Bernardino, lo Spluga e il Maloja.

The region of Lugano has another very important advantage in that it is networked with Milan, a financial metropolis and a cultural capital, which may be conveniently reached in 45 minutes by motorway or in one hour by train. In less than two hours from Lugano it is also possible to discover new territories: from the Ticinese treasures to the most typical cities of central Switzerland, to some of the most important art cities in northern Italy. The surroundings of Lugano with their six UNESCO heritage sites offer an excellent reason to extend your stay and enjoy other wonders.

Lugano ist mit privaten und öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln einfach zu erreichen. Die Seestadt liegt im Tessin, einem Bergkanton, der vollständig der Alpenkonvention unterstellt ist und befindet sich geographisch in einer strategischen Position. Von hier aus gelangt man leicht zu den wichtigsten Alpenpässen der Nord-/ Südachse: Nufenen, Gotthard, Lukmanier, San Bernardino, Splügen und Maloja.
