Morcote

Breve storia

Il nome Morcote deriva dal termine protolatino MORA che indica un’area sassosa e CAPUT che sta per testa o fine. Nel periodo di maggior splendore, l’insediamento aveva la forma di un anfiteatro e si estendeva da Vico Morcote fino a Porto Ceresio, chiamato allora Porto Morcote. Nel 1412, i 2000 abitanti ottennero dal Ducato di Milano statuti eccezionali e stemma comunale divenendo una repubblica popolare. Fino al 1847 era un fiorente sito commerciale dove avvenivano scambi di merci con l’Italia.

Der Name Morcote leitet sich aus dem frühlateinischen MORA ab, das eine felsige Gegend bezeichnet, und CAPUT, was so viel wie Kopf oder Ende bedeutet. In seiner Blütezeit hatte die Siedlung die Form eines Amphitheaters und erstreckte sich von Vico Morcote bis nach Porto Ceresio, das damals Porto Morcote hiess. Im Jahr 1412 erhielten die 2000 Einwohner der Ortschaft von dem Herzogtum Mailand Sonderrechte und ein Stadtwappen und wurden Volksrepublik. Bis 1847 war Morcote ein blühendes Geschäftszentrum für den Warenumschlag mit Italien.

Le nom de Morcote vient du terme prélatin MORA, qui désigne une zone caillouteuse, et de CAPUT qui signifie la tête ou la fin. Durant sa période de plus grande splendeur, le site avait la forme d’un amphithéâtre et s’étendait de Vico Morcote à Porto Ceresio, qui s’appelait alors Porto Morcote. En 1412, les 2000 habitants obtinrent du Duché de Milan l’octroi d’un statut exceptionnel et d’un blason communal, devenant ainsi une république populaire. Jusqu’à 1847, le village était un site commercial florissant, où avaient lieu de nombreux échanges de marchandises avec l’Italie.

The name Morcote derives from the early Latin term, MORA, indicating a stony area whilst CAPUT means head or end. During its period of greatest splendour, the settlement was shaped like an amphitheatre and extended all the way from Vico Morcote to Porto Ceresio which in those days was known as Porto Morcote. In 1412, its 2000 inhabitants obtained important statutes and a municipal coat of arms from Milan, becoming a Popular Republic. Up until 1847 Morcote was a flourishing trading hub where goods were traded with Italy.

Il piĂš bel villaggio della Svizzera 2016

Morcote è il più bel villaggio della Svizzera 2016. Il paese si è imposto nel concorso promosso da Schweizer Illustrierte, L’illustré, il Caffè e dalla SSR. La competizione prevedeva la scelta, da parte del pubblico, di villaggi svizzeri sotto i 3’000 abitanti. Con 31‘000 preferenze ricevute su 100 candidature, Morcote ha superato la concorrenza, grazie anche alle simpatie espresse da svizzeri tedeschi, romandi e di lingua romancia. Un riconoscimento ad un villaggio ricco di storia e tradizione.

Das Dorf hat sich bei dem Wettbewerb der Schweizer Illustrierten, L’illustré, Il Caffè und der SRG gegen alle anderen Bewerber durchgesetzt. Bei dem Wettbewerb konnte das Publikum per Voting unter diversen Schweizer Ortschaften mit weniger als 3000 Einwohnern das schönste Dorf auswählen. Morcote setzte sich mit 31‘000 Stimmen gegen 100 Mitbewerber durch, nicht zuletzt dank der Sympathien vieler Deutschschweizer, Welschschweizer und Bündner. Eine Anerkennung für ein Dorf, das reich an Geschichte und Traditionen ist.

Morcote s’est imposé lors du concours proposé par les revues Schweizer Illustrierte, L’illustré et il Caffè, et la SSR. La compétition proposait au public de choisir parmi les villages suisses de moins de 3000 habitants. Avec 31 000 voix parmi 100 candidatures, Morcote a dépassé la concurrence, notamment grâce à un important soutien de Suisses alémaniques, romands et de langue romanche. Une reconnaissance pour un village riche en histoire et en tradition.

In 2016 the village of Morcote won the competition promoted by Schweizer Illustrierte, L’illustré, il Caffè and SSR. The contest involved the public choosing from amongst Swiss villages of less than 3000 inhabitants. Gaining 31,000 votes, Morcote beat its 100 competitors due also to its great popularity with people from the German, French and the Romansh speaking areas of Switzerland. Recognition for Morcote, the village steeped in history and tradition.

Nucleo Storico

L’antico nucleo di Morcote è valorizzato da: romantici stretti vicoli denominati “Strécie”, fascinose piazzette, numerose incantevoli fontane ornamentali e splendidi antichi porticati con case medioevali ristrutturate da grandi architetti.

Perla del nucleo, la piccola chiesa di San Rocco dedicata al patrono degli appestati. Fu eretta dal 1548 al 1553 interamente dai morcotesi su un progetto di Arturo Maspoli.

Der historische Ortskern von Morcote ist gekennzeichnet durch romantische enge Gassen (“Strécie”), charmante Plätze, viele zauberhaft verzierte Brunnen, herrliche alte Laubengänge und mittelalterliche Häuser, die durch berühmte Architekten ihren alten Glanz zurück gewonnen haben. Die Perle des Ortskerns ist die kleine Kirche San Rocco, die dem Schutzheiligen der Pestkranken gewidmet ist. Sie wurde zwischen 1548 und 1553 ausschliesslich von den Einwohnern von Morcote nach Plänen von Arturo Maspoli errichtet.

Les caractéristiques du centre historique de Morcote sont les suivantes : des petites ruelles étroites et romantiques appelées « Strécie », de charmantes petites places, de nombreuses et magnifiques fontaines ornementales et d’anciennes arcades de toute splendeur, flanquées de maisons médiévales restaurées par de grands architectes. La perle du bourg est la petite église de San Rocco, dédiée au saint patron des malades de la peste et entièrement construite par les habitants de Morcote entre 1548 et 1553, sur un projet d’Arturo Maspoli.

Morcote’s medieval village centre is embellished by romantic narrow streets known as “Strécie”, beguiling piazzas, enchanting ornamental fountains and splendid old porticos with mediaeval houses renovated by great architects. The jewel in the crown however is the little San Rocco Church dedicated to the patron saint of plague victims. It was built between 1548 and 1553 entirely by Morcote villagers based on a project by Arturo Maspoli.

Edifici originali costruiti sul lungolago risalenti al XVII e al XVIII secolo da cui si gode una splendida vista sul lago Ceresio, rappresentano la testimonianza dell’antica tradizione di Morcote che ha conservato intatta la sua identità grazie ad una costante opera di restauro filologico.

Queste abitazioni appartenevano soprattutto a famiglie nobili ricordate dagli stemmi apposti ancora oggi sulle facciate. Mentre le case più antiche si trovano nel nucleo storico presso la piazza Pomée.

Die historischen Gebäude an der Seepromenade aus dem 17. und 18. Jahrhundert, die einen herrlichen Blick auf den Luganer See bieten, zeugen von den alten Traditionen Morcotes und dessen Fähigkeit, dank kontinuierlicher und originalgetreuer Restaurierungsarbeiten seine besondere Ausstrahlung zu bewahren. Diese Wohnhäuser gehörten grösstenteils adligen Familien, an welche die Wappen erinnern, die bis heute an den Fassaden angebracht sind. Die ältesten Häuser befinden sich im Ortskern an der Piazza Pomée.

Ces pittoresques édifices, érigés sur les berges aux XVIIe et XVIIIe siècles et dotés d’une vue magnifique sur le lac Ceresio, témoignent de l’héritage historique de Morcote, qui a su garder intacte son identité grâce à un travail constant de restauration dite philologique. Ces demeures appartenaient essentiellement à des familles nobles, dont les blasons ornent encore aujourd’hui les façades. Les habitations plus anciennes se situent dans le noyau historique du village, aux abords de la piazza Pomée.

Original buildings dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries and constructed on the lakeside offer magnificent views over Lake Lugano. They are evidence of Morcote’s time-honoured traditions and its ability to maintain its identity thanks to a constant process of authentic restoration. These houses belonged chiefly to local families, as indicated by the coats of arms still in place on the facades. The oldest houses can be found in the mediaeval centre near Piazza Pomée.

Complesso monumentale

Partendo dal lungolago salendo la prima parte della scala monumentale, si raggiunge la chiesa di Sant’ Antonio Abate. Proseguendo la scalinata attorniata da numerose cappelle e dopo aver percorso 404 gradini, si raggiunge lo splendido sagrato del battistero di Sant’ Antonio da Padova, situato di fronte alla chiesa patronale di Santa Maria del Sasso. A fianco del maestoso campanile, eretto con le pietre della cinta muraria del castello, è situato l’accesso al prestigioso cimitero monumentale.

Von der Seepromenade erreicht man nach dem ersten Abschnitt der Monumentaltreppe die Kirche Sant’ Antonio Abate. Hat man die 404 Stufen der von zahlreichen Kapellen gesäumten Freitreppe bezwungen, erreicht man den herrlichen Kirchplatz des Baptisteriums Sant’ Antonio da Padova, direkt gegenüber der Pfarrkirche Santa Maria del Sasso. Neben dem majestätischen Glockenturm, der aus Steinen der Befestigungsmauer des Kastells erbaut wurde, liegt der Eingang zum Friedhof mit seinen berühmten Grabmälern.

Si l’on gravit la première partie de l’escalier monumental qui part des rives du lac, on atteint l’église de Sant’Antonio Abate. Et si l’on poursuit l’ascension de cet escalier entouré de nombreuses chapelles, on arrive, au bout de 404 marches, sur le magnifique parvis du baptistère Sant’Antonio da Padova, en face de l’église paroissiale de Santa Maria del Sasso. À côté du majestueux clocher construit avec les pierres du mur d’enceinte du château, se trouve l’entrée du prestigieux cimetière monumental.

Start from the lakefront, climb the first part of the monumental flight of steps and you’ll reach Sant’ Antonio Abate church. Continue up the staircase with numerous shrines on both sides and after precisely 404 steps, you’ll get to the magnificent Sant’ Antonio da Padova baptistery church square in front of the Santa Maria del Sasso church. The entrance to the prestigious monumental cemetery is next to the majestic campanile, erected using stones taken from the old castle walls.

Cimitero monumentale

Natura, storia, architettura si fondono armoniosamente dando origine nel 1750 al prestigioso cimitero monumentale a terrazze che sovrasta maestoso il villaggio. Accanto alle tombe dei morcotesi, riposano nei mausolei personaggi illustri quali il tenore Andreyevich Baklanov, il compositore Eugène d’Albert, il chirurgo Hans Brun, l’attore Alessandro Moissi e il poeta morcotese Sergio Maspoli. Un’opera dello scultore britannico Henry Moore valorizza ulteriormente la visita al camposanto.

Auf diesem Friedhof verschmelzen Natur, Geschichte und Architektur zu einer harmonischen Einheit. Der berühmte terrassenförmig angelegte Friedhof geht auf das Jahr 1750 zurück und blickt majestätisch auf das Dorf hinab. Neben den Gräbern der Einwohner Morcotes ruhen in den Mausoleen berühmte Persönlichkeiten, wie zum Beispiel der Bariton Georges Baklanoff, der Komponist Eugen d’Albert, der Chirurg Hans Brun, der Schauspieler Alessandro Moissi und der Dichter aus Morcote Sergio Maspoli. Ein Werk des britischen Bildhauers Henry Moore macht den Besuch des Friedhofs besonders interessant.

Nature, histoire et architecture se fondent en complète harmonie pour donner naissance, en 1750, au prestigieux cimetière monumental en terrasses qui surplombe majestueusement le village. Au milieu des tombes des habitants de Morcote, on trouve les mausolées d’illustres personnalités telles que le baryton Georges Baklanoff, le compositeur Eugen d’Albert, le chirurgien Hans Brun, l’acteur Alessandro Moissi et le poète de Morcote Sergio Maspoli. Une œuvre du sculpteur britannique Henry Moore agrémente également la visite du cimetière.

Nature, history and architecture harmoniously are intertwined at the impressive terraced cemetery built in 1750 and which still towers majestically over the village. Alongside the graves of local villagers, the mausoleums contain the bodies of illustrious figures such as the baritone Georges Baklanoff, the composer, Eugen d’Albert, the surgeon, Hans Brun, the actor, Alessandro Moissi and the Morcote poet, Sergio Maspoli. A work of art by the British sculpture, Henry Moore, makes a visit to this cemetery even more evocative.

Castello di Morcote

Dal monte Arbostora a 475 m s/m domina il castello di Morcote. Eretto sulle rovine di una torre longobarda attorno al 1100, fu donato dai Confederati ai Paleari il 18 febbraio 1517 che si erano distinti militarmente durante la battaglia di Giornico, rifiutandosi di sostenere i duchi mediante l’apporto alle truppe favorendo la vittoria dei Confederati.

Dal 1450 al 1530 i Paleari furono castellani e sindaci del borgo. Due corridoi sotterranei collegavano la fortezza con il borgo di Morcote situato 200 m più in basso.

Das Kastell von Morcote auf dem Berg Arbostora in 475 m Höhe beherrscht den Ort Morcote. Die Burg wurde um das Jahr 1100 auf den Ruinen eines langobardischen Turms errichtet und von den Eidgenossen der Familie Paleari am 18. Februar 1517 geschenkt. Diese hatte sich in der Schlacht von Giornico hervorgetan, da sie sich weigerte, die Herzöge mit Truppen zu unterstützen und so den Sieg der Eidgenossen ermöglichten.

Zwischen 1450 und 1530 stellte die Familie Paleari die Burgherren und Bürgermeister des Orts. Zwei unterirdische Gänge verbanden die Feste mit der 200 m niedriger gelegenen Ortschaft Morcote.

Le château de Morcote, qui date d’environ 1100, trône sur le mont Arbostora à 475 m d’altitude. Érigé sur les ruines d’une tour lombarde, il fut offert par les Confédérés à la famille Paleari le 18 février 1517 pour s’être distinguée militairement durant la bataille de Giornico, en refusant de soutenir les troupes des ducs et favorisant ainsi la victoire des Confédérés. Les Paleari furent châtelains et maires du village de 1450 à 1530. Deux couloirs souterrains reliaient la forteresse au bourg de Morcote, situé 200 m en contrebas.

Morcote Castle on Mount Arbostora, at 475 m above sea level, dominates its surrounds. Built on the ruins of a Lombard Tower around 1100, it was donated by the Confederates to the Paleari family the 18 february 1517 who had distinguished themselves at the Battle of Giornico by refusing to support the Dukes through the deployment of troops, thereby facilitating the victory of the Confederate forces. Between 1450 and 1530 the Paleari were important landowners and mayors in the village. Two underground corridors connected the fortress with the village of Morcote 200 m below.

Torre del Capitano

Valorizzata da una splendida finestra ogivale bifora, la torre alta 15 metri su 3 piani, fu eretta nel 1249 quale conclusione della cinta muraria del villaggio. Dal 1845 al 1934 ospitava il posto di polizia, l’ufficio del caposezione militare e sino al 1861 la scuola comunale femminile, poi sino al 1934 il Municipio. Attualmente l’interno accoglie un’opera dell’artista ticinese Alex Dorici e un pannello composto da 45 stemmi di famiglie estinte e fiorenti di Morcote curato dall’araldista Carlo Maspoli.

Der 15 Meter hohe dreistöckige Turm mit seinem spitzbogigen Zwillingsfenster wurde im Jahr 1249 erbaut und bildete den Abschluss der Stadtmauer. Von 1845 bis 1934 waren darin der Polizeiposten und der Militärsektionschef untergebracht und später, bis 1861, die kommunale Mädchenschule und schliesslich, bis 1934, die Gemeindeverwaltung.

Zurzeit beherbergt der Turm eine Installation des Tessiner Künstlers Alex Dorici und eine vom Heraldiker Carlo Maspoli zusammengestellte Wanddekoration mit 45 Wappen bedeutender ausgestorbener Familien von Morcote.

Enrichie d’une magnifique fenêtre ogivale à deux baies, cette tour de 15 mètres à 3 étages a été construite en 1249 pour achever le mur d’enceinte du village. Entre 1845 et 1934, elle abritait le poste de Police, le bureau du chef de section militaire, ainsi que l’école communale des filles jusqu’en 1861, puis la Mairie jusqu’en 1934.

Elle abrite actuellement une œuvre de l’artiste tessinois Alex Dorici, ainsi qu’un panneau constitué de 45 blasons de familles défuntes et florissantes de Morcote, que l’on doit à l’héraldiste Carlo Maspoli.

Beautified by a splendid twin arched window, the 50 metre, three floor tower was built in 1249 as the final element in the village’s defence walls. Between 1845 and 1934 it housed the police station, the military head of section offices and until 1861 the municipal girls school, then up to 1934, the town hall. The building currently showcases a work of art by the Ticino artist Alex Dorici as well as a panel comprising 45 coats of arms belonging to Morcote families who have died out; it is curated by the heraldry expert, Carlo Maspoli.

Edificato nel 2011, il porto comunale di Morcote è una struttura moderna e funzionale situata in zona Vedo Arbostora e permette l‘attracco di 93 natanti. L’attività del porto è regolata da un Regolamento comunale. I posti di attracco vengono affittati a singole persone fisiche che devono essere proprietarie dei natanti stazionati. Assieme alla zona balneabile e il ristorante l’area è una zona di svago gratuita, meta privilegiata per turisti e popolazione locale.

Der 2011 erbaute Hafen von Morcote ist eine moderne und funktionelle Anlage in der Zone Vedo Arbostora und bietet 93 Liegeplätze. Der Hafenbetrieb ist in einer kommunalen Verordnung geregelt. Die Liegeplätze werden an Einzelpersonen vermietet, die Eigentümer der Boote sein müssen. Der Badebereich und das Restaurant liegen in einem kostenlosen Erholungsgebiet, das viele Touristen aber auch Einheimische anzieht.

Construit en 2011 dans le secteur de Vedo-Arbostora, le port communal de Morcote est une structure moderne et fonctionnelle qui permet l‘accostage de 93 embarcations. L’activité du port est régulée par un Règlement communal.

Les postes d’accostage sont loués à des particuliers, qui doivent être propriétaires des embarcations à quai. Avec l’aire de baignade et le restaurant, les lieux forment un espace de divertissement gratuit, destination privilégiée des touristes comme des autochtones.

Built in 2011, Morcote’s municipal marina is a modern, practical facility located in the Vedo Arbostora area with mooring for 93 boats. Use of the marina is governed by municipal regulations. Only individuals who are also owners of the boats moored there can rent a berth. A free-access leisure area, together with the swimming area and the restaurant, it makes a popular destination for tourists and locals alike.

Aree balneabili

Morcote ha ben tre aree balneabili a disposizione dell’utenza. Partendo al villaggio verso Figino presso l’autosilo Garavello, una zattera galleggiante è a disposizione del visitatore. Segue in riva San Bartolomèe una piccola spiaggia con accesso a lago. Mentre l’area balneabile completa di doccie e servizi igienici è situatata in zona porto comunale.

Spazi ideali per godere nel migliore dei modi un momento di relax cullati dal lago e baciati dal sole estivo della nostra regione.

Morcote bietet drei Badebereiche.

Vom Dorf aus Richtung Figino neben dem Parkhaus Garavello befindet sich eine Badeplattform, die allen Besuchern zur Verfügung steht.

Weiter entlang des Ufers befindet sich bei San Bartolomèe ein kleiner Strand mit Zugang zum See. Das mit Duschen und sanitären Einrichtungen ausgestattete Strandbad befindet sich im Hafenbereich. Ideale Orte für entspannende Momente an den Gestaden des Sees unter der sommerlichen Sonne unserer Region.

Morcote ne possède pas moins de trois aires de baignade pour les usagers. En direction de Figino du côté du parking couvert Garavello, une terrasse flottante est mise à disposition des visiteurs. On trouve également, sur la rive San Bartolomèe, une petite plage avec un accès au lac, tandis que l’aire de baignade équipée de douches et de toilettes se situe vers le port communal. Des endroits parfaits pour profiter au mieux d’un moment de détente, bercés par le lac et caressés par le soleil d’été de notre région.

Morcote has three areas where swimming is allowed. Towards Figino at the Garavello multi-storey car park, a floating raft can be used by visitors. Further on, on the lakeshore at San Bartolomèe, there is a small beach providing access to the water. The swimming area, equipped with showers and toilets, is located near to the municipal marina. It makes an ideal spots for relaxing, lulled by the lake and kissed by the summer sun.

Parco Scherrer

Definito “Il Giardino delle Meraviglie”, il parco venne realizzato da Arturo Scherrer commerciante di tessili, appassionato viaggiatore e amante dell’arte e della cultura. Nel 1930 acquistò il terreno e realizzò la struttura. Questo Eden di 15’000 mq che maestoso sovrasta le acque del lago, ospita una ricca collezione di oggetti d’arte di svariati paesi e epoche diverse, contornati da una vegetazione lussureggiante e di fabbricati e opere d‘arte di vario genere provenienti da tutto il mondo.

Der Park, der auch als “Park der Wunder” bezeichnet wird, wurde von einem Textilkaufmann namens Arthur Scherrer erbaut. Der leidenschaftliche Reisende sowie Kunst- und Kulturliebhaber erwarb das Gelände im Jahr 1930 und verwandelte es in eine einmalige Parkanlage. Dieses Paradies auf 15’000 qm, das sich majestätisch über den Wassern des Sees erhebt, beherbergt eine umfangreiche Sammlung an Kunstgegenständen aus aller Welt und unterschiedlichen Epochen, eingebettet in eine üppige Vegetation.

Qualifié de « Jardin des Merveilles, ce parc fut réalisé par Arthur Scherrer, marchand de textiles, voyageur passionné et amateur d’art et de culture. C’est en 1930 qu’il fit l’acquisition du terrain et en conçut la structure. Cet Éden de 15.000 m², qui surplombe majestueusement les eaux du lac, accueille une riche collection d’objets artistiques issus de pays et d’époques divers, au milieu d’une végétation luxuriante, de constructions et d’œuvres d’art en tout genre provenant du monde entier.

Known as the “Garden of Wonders,” the park was built by Arturo Scherrer, a textile retailer with a passion for travelling, art and culture. In 1930 he bought the land and created the structure. This veritable Garden of Eden, covering 15,000 m² offers a wonderful vista overlooking the lake and is home to a rich collection of works of art from various countries and periods.

It is set amidst lush vegetation and buildings and works of art sourced from all over the world.

Natura - Sentieri

Il territorio ticinese con oltre 4‘000 chilometri di itinerari si presta magnificamente alla pratica dell’escursionismo. Da Morcote è possibile raggiungere le prinicipali mete della nostra regione, quali il San Salvatore attraverso l’alpe Vicania. Oppure semplicemente percorrere il sentiero panoramico dal nucleo storico del villaggio verso la zona arbostora attraverso il complesso monumentale, dove splendidi panorami sul lago Ceresio presentano madre natura in tutta la sua meravigliosa potenza.

Der Kanton Tessin mit seinen über 4‘000 Kilometern Wanderwegen eignet sich ideal für Ausflüge. Von Morcote aus erreicht man einige der schönsten Ausflugsziele unserer Region. Man kann zum Beispiel über die Alpe Vicania auf den Gipfel des Monte San Salvatore wandern; oder entlang dem Panoramawanderweg vom Dorfkern über den Monumentalbau in Richtung Arbostora hochsteigen und dort oben den atemberaubenden Blick auf den Luganer See und seine herrliche Umgebung geniessen.

Otherwise, you can simply walk along the panoramic path which runs from the village’s mediaeval centre towards the Arbostora district through the area of important historical buildings where splendid vistas over Lake Lugano showcase mother nature in all her sublime glory.

Morcote offre eventi diversificati durante l’intero anno destinati a ospiti visitatori e popolazione locale.

Manifestazioni tradizionali quali la “Biciocada natalizia”, l’arrivo dei Re Magi, il carnevale si concentrano durante i mesi invernali. Mentre nel periodo estivo vengono organizzati festival musicali e svariate attività ricreative, culturali e religiose nel nucleo del villaggio e al parco Scherrer.

Morcote bietet während des gesamten Jahres viele verschiedene Events für Besucher und Einheimische. Traditionelle Veranstaltungen wie das Weihnachtsfest “Biciocada natalizia”, das Fest der Drei Heiligen Könige und der Karneval bestimmen die Wintermonate. Im Sommer finden Musikfeste und diverse Freizeit- und Kulturveranstaltungen sowie religiöse Feste im Ortskern und im Scherrerpark statt.

Les mois d’hiver sont consacrés aux manifestations traditionnelles telles que la « Biciocada Natalizia » (la Neuvaine de Noël), l’arrivée des Rois Mages ou le carnaval ; tandis que la période estivale accueille des festivals de musique et autres activités récréatives, culturelles et religieuses dans le centre du village et le parc Scherrer.

Morcote offers a wide range of events throughout the year for visitors and locals alike. Traditional events such as the “Christmas Biciocada”, the arrival of the Three Wise Men and the Carnival are all concentrated in the winter months.

During the summer period, musical festivals are organised together with a wide range of leisure, cultural and religious events in the centre of the village and in Scherrer Park.

Gastronomia

Morcote vanta numerosi ristoranti e locali pubblici dove vengono serviti principalmente piatti nostrani che valorizzano i prodotti della nostra terra. Il visitatore può scegliere se trascorrere momenti gastronomici sotto i romantici portici del villaggio, oppure se valorizzare il pasto con splendidi panorami offerti dalle terrazze posizionate sul lago. Altro offerte si possono trovare fuori dal nucleo, con grotti e ristoranti immersi nella natura o situati direttamente in riva al lago.

In den zahlreichen Restaurants und Lokalen von Morcote findet man hauptsächlich regionale Gerichte, die mit vornehmlich regionalen Erzeugnissen zubereitet werden.

Die Besucher haben die Wahl zwischen gemütlichen Lokalen unter den romantischen Bogengängen des Orts und den Restaurants mit Terrasse entlang des Sees mit Blick auf das herrliche Panorama. Weitere Angebote finden sich ausserhalb des Ortskerns in den Grotti und Restaurants im Grünen oder direkt an den Ufern des Sees.

Morcote compte de nombreux restaurants et établissements publics où l’on sert essentiellement des spécialités locales qui mettent à l’honneur les produits du terroir.

Le visiteur aura le choix entre un moment gastronomique sous les romantiques arcades du village, ou un repas sublimé grâce aux panoramas splendides offerts par les terrasses en bord de lac. Il existe également d’autres solutions un peu plus excentrées, comme des auberges « grotti » et des restaurants en pleine nature ou en bord de lac.

Visitors can decide whether to eat under the village’s romantic porticos, or whether to enjoy their meals whilst admiring the sublime vistas offered by the lakeside terraces. Other options can be found outside the village centre, with grottoes and restaurants in splendid verdant surrounds or alternatively directly on the lakeside.

Autosilo Comunale

Inaugurato a maggio 2016, il nuovo moderno e funzionale autosilo comunale situato in zona Garavello dispone di 301 posti auto su 4 piani. Unico nel suo genere, è personalizzato con piani tematici che riportano le peculiarità del villaggio.

Dall’uscita principale si raggiunge comodamente il centro del villaggio attraverso una passeggiata sul lungolago. Mentre all’ultimo piano, dove si trova un’area di svago attrezzata di cucina e servizi, una seconda uscita porta direttamente nel nucleo storico.

Das moderne und funktionale Parkhaus wurde im Mai 2016 eingeweiht und befindet sich im Gebiet Garavello. Es bietet 301 Stellplätze auf 4 Ebenen. Es ist ein einzigartiges Parkhaus mit thematischen Ebenen, welche die Besonderheiten des Dorfs widerspiegeln.

Vom Hauptausgang erreichen Sie über einen Fussweg entlang des Seeufers ganz bequem das Dorfzentrum. Auf der obersten Ebene, wo sich ein Aufenthaltsbereich mit Küche und sanitären Anlagen befindet, führt ein zweiter Ausgang direkt in den historischen Ortskern.

Moderne et fonctionnel, ce parking unique en son genre est doté de plans thématiques personnalisés qui indiquent les caractéristiques du village. Depuis la sortie principale, on rejoint facilement le centre du village après une promenade le long du lac. Le dernier étage du parking abrite un espace de loisirs équipé de cuisine et toilettes, avec une deuxième sortie qui mène directement au centre historique.

Inaugurated in May 2016, the new, easy-to-use multi-storey car park located in the Garavello district has 301 spaces on four floors. Oneof-a-kind, it has been customised with theme-based levels displaying interesting features of village life. The main exit conveniently leads to the village centre through a wonderful lakeside promenade.

On the top floor there is a leisure area equipped with a kitchen and facilities whilst a second exit leads directly to the mediaeval part of the village.
