Strolling from the city centre along the lakeshore, your day in the world of art may begin with a visit to Museo d’arte della Svizzera italiana at the Arts centre LAC Lugano Arte e Cultura. The Museum offers an intense programme of exhibitions on contemporary and Twentieth century art. Right next to the LAC, also visit Spazio -1 devoted to the art collections of the 20th and 21st centuries of art collectors such as Giancarlo and Danna Olgiati. Continue your visit at the Gianluigi Giudici Gallery of Plaster Casts and finally visit the Gabriele and Anna Braglia Foundation. 13

Tra boschi, villaggi, campagne e selve castanili. I percorsi naturalistici della Media Capriasca sono un’occasione per riscoprire il paesaggio naturale, il suo mondo animale e vegetale, le sue radici storico-culturali e i diversi contesti di vita e di lavoro dei suoi abitanti. I percorsi si distinguono in 3 diversi tragitti: il primo (5.8 km) attraversa i villaggi, le campagne e le selve; il secondo (3 km) si sviluppa invece nei boschi ed il terzo (2.2 km) comprende due punti panoramici.

Ein Tag in der Capriasca, umgeben von Wäldern, Dörfern, Wiesen und Kastanienhainen. Die natürlichen Wege von Medien Capriasca sind eine Gelegenheit, die Naturlandschaft und die historischen und kulturellen Traditionen des Gebiets zu entdecken. Es gibt drei möglische Spaziergänge: Der erste Weg (5.8 km) führt durch Dörfer, Felder und Kastanienwälder; der zweite (3 km) führt durch den Wald und der dritte Weg umfasst zwei Aussichtspunkte.

Les parcours naturels de la Media Capriasca sont l’occasion de découvrir le paysage et les traditions historiques et culturelles du territoire. Les parcours se subdivisent en 3 tronçons distincts: le premier tronçon (5.8 km) traverse les villages, les campagnes et les bois; le deuxième (3 km), se déroule à travers le bois et le troisième (2.8 km) offre deux points panoramiques.

A day spent in forests, villages and chestnut woods. The natural paths of Media Capriasca are an opportunity to discover the natural landscape and the historical and cultural traditions of the territory. The trails are divided into 3 different itineraries: the first trail (5 km) passes through villages, countryside and woods; the second trail (3 km) passes through woods and here nature really prevails and the third one (2.8 km) includes two panoramic points.

San Salvatore • Admire 360° view from the summit • Coffee at the Restaurant Vetta • Hike from Vetta to Ciona-Carona, where you can discover the village and San Grato botanical garden • Lunch at a local restaurant Afternoon: • Continue your journey to Morcote via one of the marked trails (Torello / Alpe Vicania) • Visit at Parco Scherrer (Morcote) • Take the boat from Morcote to Lugano Not to be missed: • San Salvatore Museum • San Grato botanical garden (Carona)

Dalla vetta il percorso prevede il passaggio nel villaggio di Carona, dove avrete la possibilità di visitare il Parco San Grato. La passeggiata proseguirà con due possibili varianti: la prima passando per Alpe Vicania, la seconda per Torello. Il primo percorso risulta più impegnativo ma vi porterà al Castello di Morcote dove vi attenderà un panorama mozzafiato. Il secondo è un percorso meno difficoltoso e vi permetterà di visitare il Santuario Madonna d’Ongero. Entrambi i percorsi vi permetteranno di raggiungere l’incantevole Morcote per poi rientrare a Lugano in battello. 20

Daraufhin haben Sie zwei Möglichkeiten: entweder durch die Alpe Vicania oder über Torello. Die erste Wanderung ist anstrengender und führt Sie zum Castello di Morcote, wo Sie ein atemberaubendes Panorama erwartet. Die zweite Variante ist weniger anspruchsvoll und lädt zu einem Besuch im Kirchlein Madonna d’Ongero. Beide Touren enden im zauberhaften Morcote. Depuis le sommet ce parcours vous fera passer par le village de Carona où vous aurez la possibilité de visiter le Parco San Grato. Vous pourrez ensuite poursuivre la promenade selon deux options: la première par l’Alpe Vicania et la seconde par Torello. Le premier parcours est un peu plus difficile mais il vous emmènera au Castello di Morcote où vous découvrirez un panorama à couper le souffle. Le second parcours est plus accessible et vous permettra de visiter le sanctuaire Madonna d’Ongero. Les deux parcours vous amèneront au village de Morcote, pour ensuite rentrer à Lugano en bateau. From the summit this route will take you to the village of Carona, where you can visit Parco San Grato botanical garden. You will then have two options: the first, is to go up to Alpe Vicania, the second is to go via Torello. The first route is the more difficult one, but it will take you to the domain of Castello di Morcote, where a breath-taking panorama awaits. The second route is easier and it will enable you to visit the Sanctuary of Madonna d’Ongero. Both itineraries will lead you to the town of Morcote, before taking you back to Lugano by boat. 21

Il tipico borgo lacustre è uno dei comuni più importanti del Malcantone. Il percorso proseguirà con la visita al Museo della Pesca, dove gli appassionati potranno ammirare un pezzo di storia cantonale e al Museo del cioccolato, dove potrete apprendere la produzione e la storia del cioccolato accompagnati da un delizioso profumo di cacao.

A fascinating excursion that allows you to appreciate the beauty of the Malcantone hills on board of a boat, which will take you from Lugano to Caslano. The trip continues with a visit to the Fishing Museum, where fans may enjoy a piece of Cantonal history and to the Chocolate Museum, where you can learn all about the history and production of chocolate, accompanied by a delicious smell of cocoa. Iniziate la risalita in funivia verso il Lema e dopo circa 10 minuti, raggiunta la vetta, verrete ripagati con una vista spettacolare. Il panorama mozzafiato che accompagnerà la vostra traversata verso il Monte Tamaro spazia a nord dal Lago Maggiore, le Centovalli, la Valle Maggia, la Val Verzasca e Locarno, mentre a sud la vista si apre su Lugano, le sue Valli e il Lago. A fare da sfondo, le vette più maestose delle Alpi, il Monte Rosa e il Cervino. Dal Monte Tamaro, una cabinovia vi accompagnerà a Rivera, dove vi attenderà un treno per il rientro a Lugano.

Take the cableway to the top of Monte Lema and 10 minutes later, you’ll be rewarded with a spectacular view from the top of the mountain. The stunning scenery, which will accompany you on your hike to Monte Tamaro spans from Lake Maggiore, Val Maggia, Val Verzasca and Locarno to the north, while to the south the view spans over Lugano, its valleys and the Lake. As a backdrop, the Alps’ most majestic peaks, Monte Rosa and the Matterhorn. From Monte Tamaro, a cableway will take you to Rivera, where a train will bring you back to Lugano.

Gli antichi portici e i negozi immersi in Via Nassa rappresentano un piccolo viaggio esplorativo. Con una breve passeggiata all’interno del Parco Ciani, raggiungerete la stazione di partenza della funicolare Monte Brè dove avrete la possibilità di visitare la vetta e godervi un panorama unico, potrete inoltre esplorare il nucleo artistico di Brè. Rientrerete a Cassarate in funicolare, percorrerete nuovamente il Parco Ciani per imbarcarvi in direzione di Melide nell’incantevole cornice del lago di Lugano che vi accompagnerà verso il parco tematico Swissminiatur.

Zunächst laden die alten Arkaden, die vielen Geschäfte der Via Nassa zum entdecken ein. Nach einem Spaziergang durch den Parco Ciani erreichen Sie die Abfahrtsstation zum Monte Brè. Auf dem Gipfel können Sie die einmalige Aussicht geniessen und das künstlerische Dorfzentrum von Brè besuchen. Sie kehren mit der Standseilbahn nach Cassarate zurück, durchqueren erneut den Parco Ciani und gelangen zum Bootshafen. Les anciennes arcades et magasins de la Via Nassa constituent un petit voyage d’exploration. Après une promenade dans le Parco Ciani, vous rejoindrez le point de départ du funiculaire du Monte Brè où vous aurez la possibilité de vous rendre au sommet et de profiter d’un panorama unique. En outre, vous pourrez découvrir le centre artistique de Brè. Vous retournerez ensuite à Cassarate en funiculaire, pour vous embarquer à bord d’un bateau en direction de Melide, dans le cadre enchanteur du lac de Lugano, qui vous accompagnera jusqu’au parc à thème Swissminiatur. Via Nassa will take you on a little adventure exploring the ancient porticoes and boutiques of this elegant and refined neighbourhood. A short walk through Parco Ciani will take you to the funicular station, where you will start your ascent to Monte Brè. After admiring the unique panorama from the summit, you can explore the artistic hub of Brè old town. Take the funicular back to Cassarate, then make your way back through Parco Ciani before taking the boat to Melide, a town renowned for its enchanting setting on Lake Lugano, where you’ll get to visit the famous Swissminiatur theme park. 33

The most fascinating period in Italian culture has left traces even in Lugano, when Ticino was part of the Duchy of Milan. The walk begins near the railway station, stopping on the parvis of the San Lorenzo Cathedral, with its splendid view of the gulf. Strolling through the old town, one reaches the Piccionaia, the most ancient civilian building in town and from here one goes on to Villa Ciani. Monte Generoso is one of the best panoramic mountains in Ticino. The view extends from the Po Valley over Lake Como to the Bernese Alps and the Valais. Standing majestically on the mountain’s rugged plateau is the new “Fiore di pietra“ (stone flower). The building was created by the famous architect Mario Botta. For 125 years now,the rack railway has been running along a 9 km stretch through the magical mountain landscape of the nature park, from Capolago on Lake Lugano to the summit of Monte Generoso at an altitude of 1704 m. 49
