Welcome Welcome to the new look Tai Chi Village Newsletter.
We have often talked about creating a community of practise in our tai chi for health classes and workshops.
We have more room for all the lovely images that you have been sending us and a more familiar magazine style layout.
In a funny way, this period of lockdown has facilitated that sense of community more than anything else.
Do let us know what you think. We love to hear your feedback.
Please do share your images, stories, or any information you think other people may ďŹ nd helpful.

Tai Chi Quotes We hope you like these quotes. That they inspire but also give you pause for thought and reflection.
The following sayings don't all directly relate to tai chi but they do infuse Chinese culture.
"A good book is like a pocket garden."
"Even a team of horses will struggle to chase down a ill spoken word."
"One who stands upright has no fear of a crooked shadow."
"All good things begin with a difficult start."
"Nothing is softer or more flexible than water, yet nothing can resist it."
"Know others is intelligence, knowing oneself, wisdom."
"In letting go, the Way (Tao) accomplishes all things."
"A good traveler enjoys the journey."
"Health is your greatest possession; contentment your greatest treasure; confidence your most faithful friend." Let us know if any of these sayings resonate with you? Image of Park Wood by Helen Parsons
Chee Soo, one of my early teachers in Tai Chi and kung-fu would say: 'We should live with our feet rooted in the earth, with our minds in the heavens above, and take care of all things in-between.'
Book Review Every Tuesday on our Facebook Live Stream we review one of our favourite books about Tai Chi or the culture from which Tai Chi springs. We recommend these books to our participants more than any other.

A mix of news and updates, answers to your questions, a book review, and tai chi and qigong movements to enjoy. In this Thursday's live stream Philip started teaching the new official tai chi form released by the People's Republic of China (PRC). Called Eight Forms, Five Steps or Bafa Wubu. Bafa meaning eight forms, Wubu meaning five steps, or directions. Over the coming weeks Phil will lead you, one movement at a time, through this fabulous short form. Remember you can watch all our live streams again on our Facebook Group. Scroll down the timeline or click on 'Videos' in the menu on the left hand side of the screen to find all our videos.
This week we reviewed a book by Harvard Professor Michael Puett. We really like this book because it sets the context for us to better understand the philosophical and cultural roots from which our practise and enjoyment of Tai Chi stems.
We will begin to post video of this new form on our online learning space also: www.patreon.com/discovertaichi

In dwelling, live close to the earth. Rest in simplicity. Speak only the truth. In friendship, be kind. In leading others, be just. In your work, be diligent. In all things, know the timing. Sent in by Alison C Sent in by Alison Chapter 8 - Tao Te Ching - Version by Philip Sheridan
