Una luce sempre accesa — The light is always on

Dopo la ricca e partecipata rassegna estiva al Castello di San Giusto, l’offerta culturale triestina non va in vacanza, ma si sposta semplicemente nei nuovi spazi della sala Luttazzi, al terzo piano del Magazzino 26 nel Porto Vecchio di Trieste.

Il “centro di gravità permanente della cultura di Trieste” ospiterà oltre 120 incontri, conferenze, concerti e spettacoli teatrali, in un articolato programma che vedrà protagoniste realtà come la Nuova Orchestra da Camera Ferruccio Busoni, l’Associazione Internazionale Operetta, la Civica Orchestra di Fiati Giuseppe Verdi, l’Associazione per la promozione della cultura latino americana con il suo 35° Festival del Cinema Latino Americano nonché un’offerta di lezioni e conferenze su temi storici, culturali e scientifici attraverso dei fils rouges legati alle storie e alle collezioni dei Musei comunali.

Ma sarà solo l’inizio: anche nel 2022 è prevista una seconda fase di spettacoli, eventi e manifestazioni culturali con l’obiettivo che nella sala Luttazzi “la luce resti sempre accesa” dando spazio al fermento culturale sostenuto dall’impegno organizzativo, amministrativo e

economico profuso dall’Amministrazione comunale.

Negli spazi espositivi situati al primo e secondo piano si susseguiranno alcune mostre che animeranno un luogo un tempo fucina di traffici marittimi, ora crogiolo di idee.

Si parte con Tesla: un uomo dal futuro (18 settembre–10 ottobre 2021). La mostra organizzata dall’Associazione Culturale Giovanile Serba di Trieste racconta l’inventore, scienziato e ingegnere elettrico, genio e pioniere nel campo dell’elettromagnetismo la cui opera scientifica contribuì alla seconda rivoluzione industriale.

Si prosegue con Les Combats des Grecs - Papiers Peints, Decorazione filellenica negli interni di palazzi italiani (16 ottobre–7 novembre 2021) organizzata dal Consolato generale greco di Trieste, uno dei più antichi consolati d’Europa (1830); la mostra, realizzata in onore del bicentenario dalla Guerra d’indipendenza greca del 1821, testimonia il grande impatto che la Guerra d’indipendenza dei Greci sugli Ottomani ha avuto in Europa e in particolare in Francia.

Gran finale con il ritorno, per la sua ottava edizione, di Fotografia Zero Pixel (5 novembre–8 dicembre 2021). Il festival della fotografia senza il digitale sarà dedicato quest’anno al tema “Body/ Corpo” e sarà esplorato attraverso gli scatti di un centinaio di fotografi provenienti da tutto il mondo.

After the success of Trieste’s rich programme of summer activities held at Castello di San Giusto, the city’s season of cultural initiatives is far from over its stage is simply transferred to a different location, namely Sala Luttazzi, on the third floor of Magazzino 26, in Porto Vecchio.

This centre of gravity of Trieste’s cultural life will host more than 120 lectures, debates, concerts, and theatre plays an extraordinary calendar of activities featuring prominent names, such as Nuova Orchestra da Camera Ferruccio Busoni [Chamber orchestra], Associazione Internazionale Operetta [i.e. International operetta association], Civica Orchestra di Fiati Giuseppe Verdi [i.e. Woodwinds orchestra], Associazione per la promozione della cultura latino americana [i.e. Association for the promotion of Latin-American culture] with the 35th edition of its Latin-American Film Festival as well as numerous lectures and conferences on historical, cultural, and scientific themes related to the collections currently displayed in the city’s municipal museums.

In 2022 a second round of shows, events, and cultural initiatives will take place within the walls of Sala Luttazzi, were “the light is always on” this is the wish of Trieste’s municipal government, behind the organisation, administration, and financial support of the city’s lively cultural landscape.

The showrooms located on the first and second floor of the building will host a series of exhibitions, marking the historic changes occurred in this venue, once hub of maritime trade, and now crucible of new ideas.

The series will start with Tesla: un uomo dal futuro [i.e. Tesla: a man from the future], from 18th September to 10th October 2021. The exhibit is organised by Associazione Culturale Giovanile Serba di Trieste [Trieste’s Serbian Youth Culture Association] and tells the story of Tesla the inventor, scientist, and electricity engineer his genius and pioneering inventions in the field of electro-magnetism, which greatly contributed to the second industrial revolution.

It will be followed by Les Combats des Grecs – Papiers Peints, Decorazione filellenica negli interni di palazzi italiani [Philhellenic decorative elements of the interiors of Italian buildings] from 16th October to 7th November 2021, an event organised by the Greek General Consulate in Trieste, one of Europe’s oldest consulates (1830). This exhibit celebrates the 200th anniversary of the Greek War of Independence and investigates the repercussions of Greek autonomy from the Ottoman Empire on Europe, and, more specifically, France.

The grand finale will be the eighth edition of the Festival of Photography Fotografia Zero Pixel (5th November 8th December 2021). This year’s celebration of analogue photography focuses on the theme “Body/Corpo” and features the works of more than a hundred photographers from all over the world.
