The event raises critical funding in support of our mission to provide a vibrant and engaging experience, through exhibits and programs, where children from economically and culturally diverse backgrounds actively participate in playful learning experiences that ignite a love of lifelong learning. Proceeds from the evening will provide important unrestricted funds for the Museum. Every year we work on building our capacity in order to better respond to our community’s expanding needs. Unrestricted funds allow us to use the money where it’s needed to best accomplish our goals. The Great Friend to Kids Award was initiated by the Association of Children’s Museums in 1991 to honor groups or individuals who have made outstanding contributions toward strengthening education and improving the lives of children. DISCOVERY Children’s Museum has proudly presented the Great Friend to Kids Award since 2000.
For many reasons fall is a special time for DISCOVERY Children’s Museum; school field trips and DISCOVERY on Wheels – House Calls start up again, we appreciate many cultures with different heritage celebrations each month and we honor the recipient of the Great Friend to Kids Award at our most important fundraising event of the year, The Magic of DISCOVERY Gala. Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 6:00pm Latour Ballroom, Wynn Las Vegas Black Tie with a Whimsical Flair Tickets are available at magicofdiscovery2016.auction-bid.org
On October 15, 2016 we are honored and excited to present the 2016 Great Friend to Kids Award to Wynn! Wynn is devoted to improving the lives of children in Southern Nevada. The hotel and its employees have been tremendous supporters of the museum’s mission by finding arts educational outreach programs serving children and families and by giving of their time and talent through volunteering. Beyond their support of the museum, Wynn has adopted several Title 1 schools in Clark County School District, providing much needed human capital to our communities’ most disadvantaged schools. Everyone is invited! We invite all of YOU, our donors, friends, partners, sponsors, volunteers and members. We love making new friends and we encourage anyone who has never attended The Magic of DISCOVERY Gala to attend. The event showcases the educational and community outreach programs we have at the Museum – it’s a great way to learn about what we do, how we partner with other organizations and how we live by our mission. Join us for a magical and meaningful evening with a cocktail reception and silent auction, gourmet dining experience, live auction and spectacular live entertainment featuring performers from Steve Wynn's ShowStoppers and Le Reve - The Dream. For more information about The Magic of DISCOVERY Gala and supporting the Museum, please contact Diana Morgan, Director of Development, at dmorgan@ DiscoveryKidsLV.org or (702) 382-3445.
