First opened in 1936, Grimsby Central Hall is the oldest surviving continuous concert venue in North East Lincolnshire and yet, for many, remains an undiscovered gem. Step through featureless doors in Duncombe Street and, like crossing the threshold of the Tardis, an expanded world unravels before you. You’ll encounter a 700seat auditorium that retains original art deco features and offers the finest acoustics in the area. If
you place your ear to the wall, you may just hear the lingering echoes of some legendary performers. During its 75-year history, the Central Hall has hosted concerts by an amazing array of world-class artistes, reflecting a diversity of entertainment; swing bands to brass bands, rock groups to classical recitals, jazz, choral, orchestral and stage musicals. To name names, would seem like bragging – we simply are the home of real music.
For a more intimate performance, we have the 200-seat Roy Kemp Hall and a multitude of rooms, all available for hire. Grimsby Central Hall operates as an independent non-profit making charitable trust, committed to keeping the building alive, with your support, as a premiere venue for the performing arts.

No season of Café Jazz concerts is complete without the irrepressible and ever popular Leo Solomon; a mainstay of the local jazz scene for decades, Leo has accompanied more than one hundred of the world’s greatest exponents of jazz. His dedication to music this year earned him a well deserved MBE from the Queen and however many times you may have heard Leo and trio play every concert is unmissable and brimming with surprises.
This is the re-formed original BBC Radio Leicester Big Band, featuring some of the country’s top jazz artists. They specialise in the authentic arrangements of Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, and many more big bands of the era. On this Remembrance Weekend, The Fanfare Big Band will include a selection of wartime favourites and Tebbyvents will donate a percentage of ticket sales to the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.

In October 1962, The Beatles released Love Me Do, igniting a revolution and changing the course of popular music forever and the Central Hall Trust is delighted to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their British chart debut by proudly presenting The Mersey Beatles in concert. This is not just any tribute band - they are Liverpool’s
official tribute band and in April 2012 performed for HRH The Duchess of Cornwall; prompting her to thank them for “a wonderful performance”. During their 10 year residency at Liverpool’s
world-famous Cavern Club they clocked up more appearances than The Beatles did and this year will see them performing in Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Dubai and Las Vegas. The critically acclaimed twohour deluxe show they are bringing to Grimsby is, quite simply, the show that The Beatles never gave, featuring their greatest hits

The Grimsby Central Hall are proud to bring you one of the top brass bands in the world and probably one of the most successful during its twenty two year history. In soccer terms they started as a Sunday League team in 1989 and now dominate the Premier league! To date, the band has entered 91 contests, winning 25 and placed a respectable 2nd/3rd on 16 occasions. This is definitely a concert for all brass band enthusiasts.
The Grimsby & Cleethorpes Ladies Choir welcomes back, as their special guests, the Carlton Main Frickley Colliery Band for a highly entertaining concert of seasonal songs & music. During the band’s long and successful history, it has won virtually every honour: European Champions, British Champions, British Open Champions, BBC Best of Brass Champions, Grand Shield winners & Yorkshire Champions and is currently number 11 in the world rankings.

ANTHONY PINEL - ORGAN RECITAL
This popular oratorio, composed in 1846 for the Birmingham Festival and depicting events in the life of the prophet Elijah, is considered by many to be Mendelssohn’s greatest work. Under the direction of the award winning conductor Susan Hollingworth and with the organ accompaniment of Anthony Pinel, Grimsby Philharmonic Society and four featured soloists will bring this major choral work to life as they capture its melodrama, easy appeal and stirring choruses.
Anthony Pinel, familiar as the Organist and Master of the Choristers at Grimsby Minster, has enjoyed a distinguished career in both the UK and America. His association with numerous choirs has resulted in appearances on radio and TV plus involvement in producing CD’s. Anthony will play the 3-manual organ, featured during the previous evening’s performance of Elijah, and this afternoon recital will present a programme of music offering wide appeal.

Philip Higham has won top prizes at major international competitions including 1st Prize in the 2008 Bach Leipzig and the 2009 Lutoslawski. Alasdair Beatson has appeared at such venues as Carnegie Hall, Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw and Zurich’s Tonhalle. The programme will feature works by Webern (Two Pieces & Three Kleine Stucke), R. Not sure how to find us? Just head for Freeman Street and turn down Duncombe Street. The doors to the Hall are on your left, almost opposite the junction with Werneth Road. In the daytime there is some parking available outside the Hall - in the evenings we advise using the NELC car park.
