First opened in 1936, Grimsby Central Hall is the oldest surviving continuous concert venue in North East Lincolnshire and yet, for many, it remains an undiscovered gem. Step through featureless doors in Duncombe Street and, like crossing the threshold of the Tardis, an expanded world unravels before you. You’ll encounter a 700 seat auditorium that retains original art deco features and offers the finest acoustics in the area plus
a 200 seat recital room. Place your ear to the walls; you may hear the lingering echoes of some legendary performers. For more than 75 years, the Central Hall has hosted concerts by an amazing array of world class artistes, reflecting a diversity of entertainment; from swing bands to brass bands, rock groups to classical recitals, jazz, choral, orchestral and stage musicals. It’s no wonder we consider this venue to be the home of real music, and our commitment to musical diversity continues with

The Coull Quartet has performed and broadcast throughout the world to great acclaim - the maturity and freshness which characterises their playing is often referred to. Richard Markham is a distinguished international concert pianist who has appeared with orchestras including the Royal Philharmonic and the Hallé. He has performed at many major London venues and has appeared on radio and TV in several countries.
Huw Wiggin is a remarkable young soloist and chamber musician. Winner of the Martin Musical Scholarship Award and The Countess of Munster Award, he has performed at the Royal Albert Hall and on Classic FM. Tim Abel has performed at the Wigmore Hall, The Purcell Room and Bridgewater Hall. In 2009 he was accompanist for the International Viola Congress, and won acclaim as a Park Lane Artist in London.

Peter and Zoltan Katona, described as “The classical world’s best-known guitar duo” have won over ten international prizes and have given recitals in the major concert venues throughout the world and regularly record for national TV and radio stations. Their repetoire includes includes classical pieces, tango and Spanish guitar. Their recordings have included works by Handel, Scarlatti, Isaac Albéniz and Ástor Piazzolla.
Belarus born Kiryl Keduk made his debut with the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Belarus, aged ten. He has won many international competitions including both 1st Prize and the Audience Award in the Kissinger Piano Olympics in Germany – the only competitor to do so. His international career has taken off brilliantly with concerto performances with the Russian National Philharmonic Orchestra and appearances at prestigious venues across Europe and in New York and Israel.

KARL JENKINS’ ‘GLORIA’ The evening will feature Karl Jenkins’ ‘Gloria’; a vibrant mix of musical traditions, reflecting Jenkins’ interest in ethnic and world music. The five movements are interspersed with readings from Eastern texts and there is dramatic contrast between the declamatory choral singing, with its percussive accompaniment and the more serene movements. Together with Faure’s Requiem, this promises to be an up-lifting and enjoyable evening.

In March, with an abundance of class and style, we take you on a trip back in time to vintage 60’s Las Vegas hip and cool, with wonderful memories of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin & Sammy Davis Junior. Not sure how to find us? Just head for Freeman Street and turn down Duncombe Street. The doors to the Hall are on your left, almost opposite the junction with Werneth Road. In the daytime there is some parking available outside the Hall - in the evenings we advise using the NELC car park.
