division news news editor editor division What’s Up Manta Rays! Hello! My name is Ying Chou, and I will be your new Division News Editor! Here’s a little bit about me. I am going to be a senior at Eleanor Roosevelt High School, and I’ll be serving as president there. Even though we’re starting off the term in quarantine (I hope everyone is staying safe and well), I know that this will not deter us, and we will make this a great term! I am super excited to serve as both a president and your Division News Editor for this term. I can’t wait for what’s to come! I hope you’ll enjoy this issue!

our our executive executive assistants assistants EXECUTIVE ASSISTANTS are essentially the “vice presidents” of the entire division. They work tirelessly to not only support the Lieutenant Governor in their duties and submissions, but also assist other Division Leadership Team members in their tasks. This year, Division 15 East has three amazing Executive Assistants: Zoe Quitasol from Notre Dame, Valeria Alegre from Santiago, and Annie Jin from Hillcrest. Each one has a specific focus (service projects, fundraising, and member recognition / Kiwanis Relations. Please feel free to reach out to them for help this term!

Hey Manta Rays! I’m Zoe Quitasol, president of Notre Dame High School and also one of your 20-21 Executive Assistants! I’m an upcoming junior and so excited to serve D15E this term! I’ve always wanted to see what it’s like to be on DLT behind the scenes, and give back to my division as more than a member. I can’t wait to help Lia and see our division in a new perspective. I’m so excited to get closer with my fellow officers and just have a new family! Let’s soar to new heights and reach our goals this term!

our our executive executive assistants assistants Hi Manta Rays! My name is Valeria Alegre and I am one of Division 15 East’s Executive Assistants for this term. Just a little bit about me: I’m an upcoming senior at Santiago and I serve as our Key Club’s President. This term I am so excited to really expand our division’s passion for service and our charities. Since it is my last year, being EA will really allow me to give back to a division that’s given me so much these past three years. To the 20-21 term, Division 15 East let’s show them how it’s done!

Hi, my name is Annie Jin, I'm a student at Hillcrest High School, and I will be serving as EA for D15E this upcoming term! I'm really looking forward to working together with the LTG as well as the rest of the DLT to coordinate events and help the division thrive this upcoming term! As Executive Assistant, I'm beyond excited to dedicate my time to serve Key Club and attend events, doing all that I can to ensure a brighter day for our division!

Even though Santiago is struck with the coronavirus, the COVID-19 cannot in any way disable our officers to continue their work! Our officers are still striving, planning and coming up with many creative ideas. Using this chance from the break, Santiago officers planned an online meeting to discuss future events. Valeria Alegre, Santiago Key Club president states, “In this meeting, we discussed some events that should be held once this outbreak is over. This would also help us increase our way of fundraising for PTP.”

Due to the cancellation of school and the stay at home order by the Riverside County, Eleanor Roosevelt Key Club Officers were on a Zoom call planning upcoming service event to do at home. This allows members to earn service hours while participating in social distancing. An idea for a service event is to thank health care workers and other essential workers during this unprecedented time by giving them digital thank you cards made on Canva or Google Slides. This service event allows for our Manta Rays to give back to front-line workers for all the amazing things they do for us so we can stay safe during this pandemic.
