Hey there Mantas ! It's school time again C: I hope everyone isn't too stressed out with work yet! Remember to keep pushing yourself and start off the year strong! Personally, I'm a senior this year, and so much has happened in these few weeks. Remember to keep looking up, and no matter how hard things get, they will always get better. You may notice some things to be different in the newsletter, as I'm trying out new formats! I want to make sure that this is the best that it can be, so stay tuned for more! As always, we have new and exciting plans for Key Club. Fall Ralley is approaching, and many clubs are growing with new members. I'm always so excited to talk with people about Key Club, and welcome them into our wonderful community!

Check out some of our manta mixtapes !!

What's Poppin Manta Rays! You're probably reading this before, during, or after your homework which, make sure, you turn in on time! School has officially gone back and our lives are filled once again with so many activities. We are all balancing them, along with our social life, family life, and of course, Key Club duties. I hope you have found that balance and you are absolutely thriving! September has quite a number of events that I hope you are all eager and excited to attend! Two of the events will also be with divisions in our region. I encourage you to make new friends and to create longlasting memories at the events. This is not only such a wonderful opportunity for friendships, but also an opportunity to make club connections. Perhaps you and your new club president officer friend could host a future interclub together! Keep up the good work with your service projects! I am personally planning some division service events that I look forward to you all participating in. I also suggest integrating service projects into your club meetings, for it can help your own home club bond and of course, increase service hours. Thank you to those who have attended our fundraisers. I have seen your clubs as well starting or planning your fundraising events, and I am more than happy to attend. Not only are you making my plans for dinner, but also raising a great amount of money for PTP! Let's continue to reach for our goal, especially with Fall Rally South slowly approaching us. It's recruitment season! Make sure to participate in the JOIN OUR HIVE CAMPAIGN and spread the word about Key Club! Let's welcome more manta rays into our ohana and the CNH hive!

Surviving the jungle By: Zoe Quitasol

An adventurous and interactive collaboration between division 15 south and east was held on july 18th for the july dcm: surviving in the jungle. Members were faced with different challenges that they got to vote for, determining their fate on whether they would survive the jungle or not. mini games were played such as: “guess the animal noise,” “build a rickety bridge,” “wikipedia race,” and “create a song for a karaoke battle.” In the end, we all survived the jungle! truly a fun and entertaining virtual event.

Ding tea fundraiser By: Madelyn Worthington Division 15 East teamed up with Ding Tea from July 21-24 to bring a nice and refreshing fundraiser in this hot weather. The fundraiser lasted 3 days, and 20% of sales went to our very own Division 15 East. We’d like to thank everyone who could make it and help support us!

Our main service project this month was our July Park Cleanup at Orange Terrace Park! This event was attended by members of MLK Key Club and the officer board on July 23 from 11 to 1 in the afternoon. We met up at Orange Terrace Park near the library then passed out gloves, trash bags and membership items to all the members who attended. The purpose of the event was to help maintain the cleanliness of the public park in order to create a safer environment for people who regularly visit Orange Terrace Park, as well as create an opportunity for dues paid members to receive their membership items from the last term. This event is owed to MLK Key Club’s officer board for organizing this event and providing the necessary materials and resources to make this cleanup succeed.

King students help keep the community clean, and remain safe!

who is annie ?

Hi! I’m Annie, a current senior at Hillcrest high school! I first joined key club my freshman year, since it was the only club I had known about, and quickly began becoming more involved. My passion for key club started around my first fall rally. It was amazing being able to meet so many people from diverse areas, and later form long-lasting friendships with those same people!

How did Key Club Become Special to you?

I started actively participating in meetings, events, and DCM’s my sophomore year, in which I ran for Vice President. Although COVID interrupted the school year, I still hoped to get more involved, despite the circumstances. I became EA for the 2020-2021 term, and it was truly an unforgettable experience working alongside the DLT, even online! I’m currently the division secretary and club president for Hillcrest, and couldn’t be more excited that we get to transition back into person! I’m beyond ecstatic for fall rally, upcoming DCM’s, and all that this year has in store!

Whats happening with your own club?

So far, we’ve handed out shirts from previous terms for our board to wear during club rush! We already have posters from last year that we are using to promote as well. We contacted ASB to mention key club during morning announcements, have created a remind, and are going to start promoting on social media soon! We plan on dressing full out for club rush so that we stand out & people become interested.
