Message From Our LTG Aloha Manta Rays! It felt like just yesterday we were heading back to the routine of school and homework, but it has already been well over a month! I hope that each of you have set goals for yourself to achieve throughout the quarter, semester, and year; remember to keep yourself on track to hit each and every goal. As many of the clubs have completed club rush, a lot of new members have joined our Manta Ray Family! My challenge for all of you reading this is to go out and meet one of the new members and bring them to our next event, we want everyone to embody our CORE Value of Inclusiveness! Please continue to attend each of our Division and Region events, the Division Leadership Team and I have a lot of fun events coming up, make sure to come check them out! If you have any comments, questions, or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me! - Liutenant

Message From Our DNE

Hello Manta Rays ! If I were to describe these upcoming months with just a quote, it would without a doubt be " Honey you got a big storm comin' " considering in less than a few weeks will start UNICEF fundraising followed by Fall Rally, Holiday Vacations and next thing you know half of the school year has flown by fast ! However, lets enjoy the time we have now by taking advantages of all the opportunities in life that come our way. From being a more productive student, more active member in Key Club, making new friends, and experiencing new things. Remember to always try your best to make your life as exciting and memorable as possible so you wont regret it in the future !

CLUB RECAPSÂ

Centennial High School

On August 30th, Centennial Key Club had a booth at our back to school night where we sold pizza and churros. We ended up making double our profit that we spent on the food and we had a fun time meeting new students and parents. We were probably the loudest and most spirited booth out there and we were constantly socializing with others and just having a good time in general.Â

John F. Kennedy High School

During Club Rush, we took advantage of this wonderful opportunity to introduce new and returning students to key club. On this hot day, we passed around otter pops to students and other clubs to keep them cool as we handed out our little pamphlet explaining who we are. Our day was filled with many smiles, several “How Do You Feel? chants, and over one hundred students eager to join key club.

La Sierra High School

In the first month of the school year La Sierra, as many other schools do, held club rush to expose students to a wide array of different clubs they may be interested to join as they progress through high school, an opportunity which our club definitely took the advantage of for our club’s exposure. During club rush, the officers were dressed up in our fall rally / key club division gear including a pretty large manta ray spirit stick which in itself grabbed many people’s attention right off the bat, not to mention landed us on to our principal’s twitter ! We separated into two groups, one would manage our sign up table and hand out flyers containing our clubs contact information and a general guide on why one should join key club while the other group would walk around with the spirit stick and a “ask me how I feel” sign chanting whenever we were asked. Grabbing even more attention for our club was so worth the soreness in our throats from the seemingly endless chanting. In short club rush was a success considering we had many more people sign up than we 8 expected so much so we came very close to running out of sign up sheets and were given many remarks on how our table was “crowded”.

Santiago High School

On September 10th, 2017 Santiago Key Club participated in the CCF Kids Walk. Kids Walk is a community awareness and fundraiser event where families who currently is in oncology treatment can walk in honor of their child and families who have lost a child to cancer can hold banners in memory of their loved one during this tribute. Survivors take this opportunity to to take a victory march for conquering this disease. This is also an opportunity signs and symptoms of childhood cancer known to the community as well as we place an emphasis on early detection which is key to saving the lives of young people battling the disease. Our members assisted in the event by directing participants in the walk and passed out goodies to participating children.
