Lieutenant Governor's Greeting Happy September Division 23, It has been super hectic lately with the beginning of school, I hope you are all safe and healthy. I am very proud that Victor and Brockport held elections recently so shout out to you all for doing an amazing job! Remember to get the MRFs in on time or else your club won't be eligible for the perfect paperwork award at LTC. I am also very proud of us all for completing our Charity Miles fundraiser! It has been an outstanding success for our division! Our goal was originally $100 or 400 miles but we crushed this goal and walked/ran/biked 1900 miles or $475 dollars for March of Dimes! (Over 4 times our original goal!) Wooohooo! Thank you to everyone who participated. Yours in Service and Caring, Charlotte Allen, NYDKC Division 23 Lieutenant Governor

Governor's Project Canines for Disabled Kids

Canines for Disabled Kids aims to increase and insure independence for children with disabilities and their families through the use of service dogs, as well as understanding and awareness throughout the community. Canines for Disabled Kids offers free services to families to help connect children with the service dog that can best help them overcome restrictions caused by disabilities. The dogs help the kids increase their confidence! Please consider donating or focusing a service project around this wonderful cause!

District Project: Project Hope Project HOPE transforms the health of people and communities around the world. They work on the front lines of the world’s health challenges, partner with communities, health care workers and public health systems in order to ensure sustainable change. Project HOPE aims to place power in the hands of health care workers to save lives worldwide. This is a great project for this year because of COVID19. Project HOPE helps healthcare workers worldwide and this is exactly the kind of place we should be putting our resources so that we can overcome this pandemic.

Service Spotlight Featuring: Division 14 Due to the pandemic, our Key Club hasn’t been active since early Spring. However, our Lieutenant Governor, Chloe Baker, has searched above and beyond for ways to keep not only my club, but our Division active during these unprecedented times. In the summer, we had our big Charity Miles event. Our members walked more than they ever have this summer, helping both their health and children overseas. To date we have walked 2,276 miles with less than 25 members. That is over $500 going towards UNICEF, one of KCI’s preferred charities. Besides Charity Miles, we have a new team on Free Rice App. It is a trivia game where you earn rice that is given to a country in need, sponsered by the World Food Programme (WPF). The earnings have been slow, although our team did just launch. Division 14 has been learning to adapt to changes and make the best out of what we are given. We hope to find more chances to do good as time comes.

Youth Opportunities Fund (YOF) The Youth Opportunities Fund (YOF) is an endowed fund of the Kiwanis Children’s Fund which provides grants to Key Club and Key Club members for scholarships and service opportunities. YOF grants can help you take action. Look around and identify service that needs to be done in your school, community or the world. Then apply for a grant.

D23 August Divisional Division 23's second divisional took place this August! The meeting started with club updates and introductions. We then tackled old business such a SLC, Thirst Project Legacy Summit, Member of the Month, K-Family Picnic, and the August Newsletter. Making our way into current business we discussed Charity Miles, Membership Experience Survey, and How Key Club has changed your life video. Finally, we concluded the divisional by talking about new business: Swiftkick virtual session, how to stay active due to COVID, and paperwork.
