Happy November
NewCariBama!
I don't know about you, but October was a busy month for me. From October Board in Anaheim to college applications to school, I was on a roller coaster. Plus, my district's Fall Rally is coming up! If your district has Fall Rallies, I hope you have/had fun! To relax, I have absolutely LOVED listening to Taylor Swift's new album, Midnights. I hope you all are finding some down town for yourselves, too. You deserve it! Yours in Friendship and Service, Ava Stamatakis Key Club International Trustee

Operation Christmas Child is an annual project our Key Club does. Operation Christmas Child has helped meet the needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine. Members of our Key Club got the choice to take home and pack a shoebox with gifts that are then distributed to children around the world. Our club then paid the cost of shipping for each box. Some friends and I went to the Dollar Tree and Walmart to buy gifts for our boxes together which makes the service even more enjoyable.
Samaritan’ s Purse has collected shoebox gifts filled with toys, school supplies, and hygiene items for children around the world. Since 1993, more than 188 million children in more than 170 countries and territories have received an Operation Christmas Child shoebox. In 2020 alone, more than 9.1 million Operation Christmas Child shoebox gifts were collected throughout Australia, Austria, Canada, Finland, Germany, New Zealand, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
This year, our club filled over 15 boxes and Operation Christmas Child even has a tracking feature so you can find out where your box ends up!

The Give Back to Rochester Event & Circle K Kickoff was a huge success!! We started out with an introduction for the Kickoff, then learned about what food insecurity really means & how that impacts our communities. We got the honor to hear from Keynote Speaker Natalie Robinson, the RIT Foodshare Coordinator. Natalie spoke about the endeavors Foodshare is facilitating in order to combat food insecurity on campus, and what we can do to help. After that, we had a Kahoot on the topics we learned about. Following, the clubs present all got acquainted with some icebreakers, then we broke up into small groups to partake in some service projects. We made no-sew blankets for the Golisano Children’ s Hospital and dog toys. Later, we went to the Quad and decorated with colorful chalk spreading awareness about the event!! It was such a fun day.
