MESSAGE FROM THE LTG
I can’t BEE-lieve it’s 2018. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday break and hopefully got some much needed rest! With the new year, I challenge all of you to come up with some new goals you want to achieve this year. Now that it’s January, we have a couple of events coming up! It’s time everyone, I’m giving birth! Well… sort of, at Conclave we’ll be electing the next Lieutenant Governor that will serve YOU in the 2018-19 term! Conclave is an annual event where you’ll not only get a chance to see who our next Lieutenant Governor is, but you’ll get to see how a Key Club election works! This is an event you don’t want to miss! Hope to see you there! January marks the start of elections season. This means that your club may have elections very soon! Keep an eye out for any news regarding your home club’s election and if you’re interested in running for a club officer position, talk to your officers! Running for club office is no easy feat, but I believe in you! DCON! DCON! DCON! Wait what does DCON stand for? DCON stands for District Convention… and registration is opening up very soon! This year, District Convention will be taking place in Reno, Nevada! It is a fun event that I highly recommend, but it is
MESSAGE FROM THE LTG very pricey! If you’re interested in attending this awesome annual event, contact your officers! Finally, with only a few more months in the term, remember to keep on serving your community! Thank you for reading and I hope to see you at a future divisional event! :D LTG Jonathan

Helping this organization was a great experience-- I learned to further sharpen my skills in dealing with customers, working with others in a team setting, dealing with money, and much more. While working, I learned how to multitask in what I was doing-- from cutting samples to keeping a friendly banter with interested customers-- it was a very enjoyable experience and I hope to do a service event working with this organization or one similar in the experience.

The “Uhuru Thanksgiving Pie Sale” service event I volunteered at was an incredible experience. In front of Grand Avenue’s Safeway in Oakland, other key clubbers and I helped sell Uhuru pies--at least 100 pies by the end of our shift--and made over one thousand of dollars with our pie selling by the end of the day that will go to building an independent and supportive African economy.
DECEMBER DECEMBER DWS ARCHISHMA KAVALIPATI DUBLIN This past weekend, I attended the December DWS, a project in Walnut Creek to restore native plants to the environment and positively impact surrounding wildlife. It was an extremely chilly morning and I basically couldn’t feel my fingers when I first got to the restoration site, but as the morning warmed up so did the rest of us volunteers. The aim of the project was to bring native plants back to areas where European plants and other invasive species had taken over, disrupting the balance of the ecosystem. As volunteers, we raked and turned over soil for new plants to grow, created holes in the dirt, and planted native species. Personally, the project was a very satisfying one because we got to see the fruits of our effort right in front of us- we planted over 2,000 plants that morning! It was a relaxing and therapeutic way to start the morning simply due to the calming nature of working with plants. The area was very peaceful, and it was very relaxing to be able to catch up and chat with members from other divisions while doing service. I felt that this project was extremely beneficial to the community because it helped the environment, which is an area that tends to be ignored often but is one of the most important aspects of all of our lives. I also felt that I would really enjoy going to more restoration projects in the future because my experience was so pleasant.
