lieutenant governor

Hey Blue Devils! As we welcome in June, we leave behind the beginning stage of this term! Summer brings free time, which means more time to rest and participate in Key Club! I think we can all agree that coronacation has been more stressful than relaxing with online school and all. Summer is a great time to get more involved in our community and become more active in Key Club as we serve yearlong. Though it may be hard to gather members for summer events, and even more so given our current situation, keep in mind that you have more time to plan and promote events! Officers will continue to host club events and the Division Leadership Team and I will continue to plan division events and bondings. Remember to continue raising funds for the Pediatric Trauma Program and I’m always here if you need help! To reiterate my goal of increasing member activity this term, I strongly encourage each and every single one of you to ATTEND MORE EVENTS! Our organization offers this social and bonding aspect that many other service organizations don’t, so please take advantage! As Lieutenant Governor, I will continue fostering the warm and welcoming environment that makes Key Club special at every event. Attending events will spark a genuine passion in you for Key Club, which can inspire you to step up and take on a Key Club leadership position in the future. Key Club truly can grow you into a leader and make you a better person, and it all starts with one event. Make the most of your summer and participate! Your DLT and I are working hard to plan this month’s Officer Training Conference, which I hope to see you all there. This term, additional events will be made available to our clubs located in the Lamorinda area so they too have the opportunity to participate on the division level. I hope we can all form close bonds with each other (and get boba together after division events ;)). Stay safe and have a relaxing summer! You earned it!

Always serving with a SMILE,

Caroline Lobel

letter from your

division news editor

What’s up, Division 26 South?! Happy summer! My name is Christine Oh, and I currently serve as co-vice president of my home club, California High and as your Division News Editor along with this term’s amazing leadership team. Read more about us on pages twelve & thirteen! I am beyond excited to be greeting you all through my first ever newsletter! I hope you enjoy this (and future) issues, as I had lots of fun creating and designing it! As we slowly creep into the summer (it doesn’t really feel like it, does it?? I feel like it’s been summer forever... anyone with me??), I hope you will find more time to focus and dedicate to Key Club! The division has some awesome upcoming events (that you can read about on page seven of this newsletter!) that will keep you busy during the drab. hot hours of the summer. Although in-person activities won’t be happening for a while, it’s great to stay connected online! It was so great seeing everyone’s faces at the past events through Zoom, and I hope that we can all keep seeing each other through division-wide events on online platforms. By the time you are reading this newsletter, the Contra Costa County shelter-in-place order will have been lifted (hopefully, unless they extend it..)! Regardless, let’s all stay safe and healthy, even if we’re allowed to go outside for non-essential business! I sincerely look forward to meeting you all in person. Let’s look forward to an AWESOME term together! Thanks so much for reading! Here’s a small reminder to smile!! It looks good on you!

Burning with service,

Christine Oh

articles & visuals Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) affecting all ages of people around the world, patient at times feel helpless and discouraged. Usually, volunteers would go to hospitals and provide happiness towards these patients, but it is impossible to do so currently. Key Club has provided this event so I am able to still help out patients without physical contact. By creating cards that will be sent to multiple patients, I will be uplifting their spirits during this stressful period, and hopefully making them feel at ease. - Christy Quang, Dougherty Valley

The May DCM was really refreshing for me to attend! I got to see so many faces and interact with them. After the meeting, we talked and played skribbl.io. It was a quick but fun bonding time. In the end, I’m glad this DCM was a good distraction from the stress of everything happening right now. - Mikayla Chen, Dublin

blue devils & friends what have you been doing to keep yourself busy during quarantine?

during quarantine, i’ve been throwing myself into new music genres and discovering new artists! i’ve also been learning new songs on guitar and working on my bullet journal. and of course, binging netflix! - sophie cooper, division 26 south

i've been following a routine, as if i was still in school. my online homework has been keeping me really busy! other than that, i am also exercising to be active and bullet journaling once in a while. i also try to talk to my friends when i have the chance because i miss everyone so much! all in all, quarantine for me has been pretty hectic lately. - jazzy valenzuela, division 26 north

during this quarantine, i’ve mostly been keeping up with my online schoolwork that my teachers assigned. i have also been facetiming my friends every now and then to keep in touch since we can’t see each other. my piano lessons have went virtual as well so i’ve been practicing new pieces as well. my fellow officers and i have also been planning out some ideas for the next term for key club! - kevin wu, division 46 north

i’ve been doing a lot of napping and sleeping. i’ve also been playing video games for 1/4 of my day. my school is making us do something called the passion project where you do anything that you’re passioante about. i chose to start a youtube channel, troy aghhh *insert self promo ;) - troy alansalon, division 43

i have been watching a lot of anime and reading fictional books. i also draw! - adelyna chanthakone, division 27 north

during this quarantine i've been running/exercising a lot more so i go on runs after i finish my homework. i have also been reading some good books so hit me up for some book recommendations! - alyssa cheung, division 2 north

What’s popping Blue Devils? My name is Carline Lobel and I proudly serve YOU as Division 26 South’s Lieutenant Governor! I am beyond honored to be spending my fourth and final term in Key Club giving back to our wonderful division. My biggest goal for this term is to increase member activity within our division by fostering a welcoming environment at every event. Aside from Key Club, I’ve been spending shelter-in-place playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Animal Crossing has been my favorite video game since I started playing Wild World back in 2010 and it’s also one of my favorite things to talk about! I also love drinking boba, journalism, and listening to music, especially Frank Ocean and NIKI. I’ve been told that I’m a dry texter, but I promise my personality is much better in person/verbally so feel free to start a conversation with me any time!

What’s up blue devils?! I am so excited to serve as your DNE this term! I’m in the class of 2021 at California High School and this is my third year in Key Club. Some fun facts about me are that I love watching Korean dramas (my favorites are W and Healer!), eating strawberry ice cream, and travelling. The airport aesthetic always gets to me for some reason... I also love graphic design, which is why I’m having so much fun creating this newsletter for you all! My goals this term are to engage members by creating fun and creative newsletters for you all. I also love meeting new people, so I’m always down to talk/chat! I look forward to an amazing new term, filled with lots of service, spirit, and most of all, FUN! I’m super excited to meet everyone in person soon!

Hey Blue Devils! I’m Stephanie Su and I will be serving you as your Division Tech Editor this term. Key Club has been such an important part of my life throughout high school, and I look forward to giving back as much as possible in my last term. My goals are to increase member education through user-friendly, visually appealing graphics, and to help build a welcoming community of Key Clubbers. Outside of Key Club, I am passionate about technology, sustainability, and creating positive change. You’ll often find me getting boba (usually Boba Bliss). If you ever need a friend to talk to, don’t hesitate to reach out!

What's poppin' Blue Devils? I'm Mikayla and I'll be serving you as one of the EAs this term! I'm super excited to be apart of your Key Club journey! A fun fact about me is that I don't like chocolate ice cream(fite me). I also really love cafes + their aesthetics \ (•_•) /

christy quang| memeber education and recognition coordinator Hey there! My name is Christy Quang, and I proudly serve our division as one of your Member Education Recognition Coordinators for the 2020-2021 term! One of my goals for this term is to increase the number of dues paid members from each club. A fun fact about me is that I splurge too often on piano sheet music for soundtracks from Korean dramas.
