letter from your
LTG
lieutenant governor
Happy Holidays, Blue Devils! It’s unbelievable that we’ve made it to the last month of 2020 already. As we enter an uncertain new year, let’s reflect on the best moments from this term so far. We welcomed a delayed start to the 2020-2021 term in April and introduced this year’s DLT in May. We had two back-to-back DCMs with D26N — dares in June and banquet in July. In September, we held our first-ever virtual Region Training Conference with Regions 9 and 17. Now, we’ve approached the end of member recruitment season. This month, we’ve got two big events for you to attend. The first is Candidate Training Conference (CTC) with Regions 9 and 17. This event is perfect for prospective LTG candidates as it will train you to run for LTG and educate you on the duties of being LTG. The other event is our annual movie night December DCM. This year we will be watching “Ratatouille” together over a Zoom call so get your blankets and snacks ready! With that said, thank you all for a great year. I’m so thankful for each and every one of you for making D26S the best that it can be. See you in 2021! Always serving with a SMILE,
Caroline Lobel

DNE
letter from your
division news editor
Happy December! Grab a fuzzy blanket, a nice hot drink (my personal favorite is jasmine tea!), and a willingness to dive into the holidays as you read the latest edition of The Daily Devil! Oh, and as you watch Ratatouille at this month’s DCM... There’s lots of fun events stacked up to celebrate the end of 2020 with Division 26 South that you can look forward to. As our wonderful LTG Caroline has mentioned, let’s take time to reflect on this past term so far. For new and returning members alike, it’s definitely been disappointing not being able to meet up, bond, and do service in person. But I’m so proud of us for not letting that get in the way of sprinting our way to achieve our division goals. Let’s keep it up for the remaining months we have left in the 2020-21 term. With that said, I hope you enjoy the December issue of The Daily Devil! As always, feel free to reach out to me at the email listed below with any concerns or comments regarding the contents of the newsletter. Happy holidays!
Burning with service,
Christine Oh

F DWS Caroline Lobel was leading the event, and our division was there. I raised money for less fortunate children around the world by solving math problems. I did this from 2:00-3:30 PM on 10/24/2020. It was an online volunteering event, so I did this event from home. I won $117.75 in total for children. Some memories I made includes helping children all around the world, giving me a warm and great feeling. - Evan Woo, Dougherty Valley
The October DWS was doing Math for Unicef. On October 24th, Caroline played music while we solved basic math problems. The most difficult problems that the website had was about 7th grade level, solving for x. Other than that, they had basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. The Math for Unicef had 10 problems to do in each round, which was a minute long. I stayed for an hour, but others stayed for longer. - Grace Tong, Monte Vista

MORE DEVIL VOI California Key Club held our first monthly service project in October! The Sticky Note Project was an initiative to brighten up somebody's day by leaving positive messages on sticky notes around a member's neighborhood. It was a fun and interactive way to earn hours, feel good about yourself, and contribute to the community. Although it was our first monthly service project, we plan to hold more service projects like this in the future. - Eunice Oh, California
In the UNICEF event, we had to answer math questions in order to donate money for children. The questions were pretty easy, so it wasn’t difficult to answer. It made me feel good because even though I was only answering a simple question, it was making the slightest difference in the world. I feel like it was a productive and helpful way to spend my time. - Lucy Tao, Dublin

In the month of October, Amador Valley Key Club members attended the October Division Wide Service event. There, members participated in a math fundraiser that was paired with UNICEF. Answering simple math questions would lead to the donation of money towards improving education. The event was a simple, but fun, way to fundraise. - Sunny Liu, Amador Valley
On October 11th and 12th, students from colleges hosted the Key To College in which they talked to Key Clubbers about college experiences and skills such as resume building. Topics covered included financial aid, managing stress, applications, choosing minors/majors, personal statements, building resumes, networking, and transferring. This event was very informative and I got to hear people talk from different colleges! I learned a lot during this event and am very grateful that I attended! It's very important to learn about the college process, especially since it is so complicated! I encourage other Key Clubbers to attend if this event ever gets hosted again because it is very informational! I learned lots of new information during the Key To College! - Ashley Nakazato, Monte Vista

What holiday movies do Blue Devils

the grinch
home alone
Whether you’re watching the new 2018 or the classic 2000 version, you’re in for a grumpy take on the traditionally happy holiday. Based on the book by Dr. Seuss, both versions of the movie adaptation are worth a watch this year! Recommended by Melissa Chen, Amador Valley and Aviv Berlin, Las Lomas
Alone for the holidays? Join Kevin as he enjoys a newfound freedom at home while his family travels overseas. You can even binge all four installations of the Home Alone movies, even though they can’t compare to the original! Recommended by Lana Tayag, Dougherty Valley and Yashika Gupta, Dublin
s recommend this holiday season?
shrek the halls Nothing screams “holiday spirit” as much as Shrek The Halls, the movie that was born into this world back in 2007. Grab a blanket, some snacks, and your family as you dive into Shrek’s holiday adventure! (editor’s note: Shrek looks like a Christmas tree!) Recommended by Joyce Tong, Monte Vista
polar express A classic holiday movie, The Polar Express will not disappoint you this winter. Narrated by a cute little boy who boards a train, you’ll see all the hallmarks of the holidayswhite snow, the North Pole, Santa, and more! Recommended by Lauren Wang, California and Carter Soe, California
