How's everyone's summer going so far? I can't believe that it's already July - things sure go by fast. Summer break is finally here, so make sure you make the most of it! Hang out, watch whatever, sleep in, just chill out. My goal is to try to attend as many in-person Key Club events as possible. I hope to meet everyone and get to know everyone better. PLEASE talk to me - my social anxiety is insane. As this is my second article, I hope you enjoy :) I'm still pretty new to this and I'm working hard to bring you guys the best newsletters. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any suggestions or if you just want to talk!

monthly CLUB club MONTHLY Amador valley This month we were able to wrap up our previous project with the Clothes Donation Drive. After successfully bringing this service project to a close, we started onto our next one, which was an idea we had with teacher's appreciation week. Rather than taking to the large range of teachers, who likely already received much notes of appreciation from their students, we decided on dedicating goodie bags of thanks to the custodians. Using existing club funds to buy the contents, we got small paper bags filled with scented goods, handwritten cards from our members and officers, mints, and chocolates. We decorated the handles of the bags with ribbon, tied into a bow. This was the greatest and major highlight for our club this month, as we spent a lot of time on it and enjoyed making it, knowing it would go to hopefully make the days of under-recognized staff. Lastly, this month, we celebrate Terrence Moore as our member of the month.
Athenian This month, our club planned and participated in an Interkey with Dougherty Valley Key Club. This turned out to be a fun and insightful experience, as we got to meet members from another club and learn more about running a Key Club. Our club also had an end of the year party to celebrate everything the club has done during its first year. Our club officers are working on figuring out the summer schedule and activites, along with finding ways to get new members during the start of the next school year.
recaps RECAPS Dougherty valley This month, we hosted our last meeting for the school year (and with Ms. Quach D: ) and introduced many of our upcoming events and activities. Our members participated in the division events, including the DCM and DWS. One of our members (and DTE/DNE), Valerie, was also member of the month! Helping out with baking for the DWS was super fun, and I made cream puffs and Rice Krispies treats with Valerie (DV). We also hosted an interkey service event with Athenian Key Club on the 30th, where we walked along Iron Horse Trail (specifically, the section behind Central Park) and picked up any trash we saw. We were able to get a lot picked up, and it was nice to take a break from school and other work to spend some time outside. The event generally went very well and I was happy to meet the Athenian Key Clubbers!

On May 13th, we held a meeting to put together goodie bags for our janitors who work very hard on our school’s campus. The goodie bags consisted of mints, chocolates, soaps and cards. The meeting was very fun as making the cards while talking with each other definitely brightened our day. Showing appreciation and gratitude can always lighten someone’s day!
Amador Valley
We planned and held Devil’s Cafe this month and raised $225.50 for the Pediatric Trauma Program! It was really fun interacting and spending time with other Key Club members since it was the first DWS of the new term. We gathered all the baked goods and packaged them for the orders together, which I enjoyed doing. All the baked goods looked really yummy and made me kinda hungry, so thank you to everyone who took the time to bake or bring something! ( ❛ ֊ ❛„)

2022, May 22 was the day of D26S’s May DCM and banquet at Pleasant Hill Recreation and Park District. We shared this event with D26N, where the 2021-22 officers retired and appointed the new officers for the 2022-23 term. I arrived there a bit earlier to help set up and meet new people. This event was special to me because it was one of the first Key Club events I’ve attended, and I got to spend it with my best friend, who is a part of the D26N Leadership Team! Additionally, this realy opened my eyes to how much Key Club can affect one’s life. I heard many heartfelt stories and was extremely touched at the bonds that were made over the last year. I will cherish this memory and will look forward to many more in the future!

spotlight KEY CLUB SPOTLIGHT Children’s Miracle Network The sad truth in the United States is that proper healthcare is expensive and not everyone has access to quality doctors and treatments. The Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) is a non-profit organization that raises money for hospitalized children. CMN is partnered with over 170 hospitals to help pay for up-to-date equipment, train staff, conduct innovative research, and provide healthcare for families that can’t afford it. In fact, in 2009 and 2010, Key Club and the Kiwanis family raised over 1.8 million dollars for this cause.
