DEAR DIVISION 3W,
HELLO DIVISION 3W!! First things first, y’all are my favorite in the whole world and I love you guys all sososo much! Thank you so much for all the service you’ve been doing, I cannot wait for school to start again for the sole reason of being able to get into more contact with all of y’all.
This past summer board, we decided upon a DCON theme and I hope y’all are excited for April because it’s going to be amazing. On that note, your clubs need to start fundraising now so that when AP season rolls around you aren’t stressing to get all the details worked out.
This weekend I was also chosen as one of the top 10 Lieutenant Governors which I could not have been able to do without the support of an incredible division. I would argue that you guys are the best division in the whole district, but then again I may be slightly biased since I have the pleasure of getting to work with y’all.
For this upcoming month, your clubs should be making sure to be prepared. Make sure to have booths are your fish camps and to begin collecting dues.

DISTRICT UPDATES
Has your club done a project this summer? Email governor@tokeyclub.com and secretary@tokeyclub.com with your pictures and you may be given a shout out on the T-O Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. Congrats to the top 5 outstanding projects from the month of June posted on the district website. These are great ideas for all clubs! Once you have completed your budget for the year be sure to have your club officers approve it as soon as possible. They may not help put it together if they are not available, but they have to approve it upon completion. The theme for the August/September Tex-O-Key is back to school. Send me jokes/riddles/puns and fun facts to me and receive +5 points if they are published in the Tex-O-Key. The sooner you send them to me, the more likely it will be featured in the Tex-O-Key.
Get all the important information directly from your District Staff Officers by reading their monthly newsletter – made just for YOU! Each Staff officer has important information for club officers and members, so don’t stop reading until you hit the last page.

Attend Kiwanis meetings for $12 the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Tuesdays of every month and let the Kiwanian’s know about your meeting dates!
All COCI (Club Officer Contact Information) needs to be updated on the district website. Ask your advisor about login info or contact me for help. Any changes throughout the year need to be updated with me and on the website.
Add to any and all social media so that I can come and visit your club through out the year whether it be at a meeting, at a social, or at a service event! Invite me and I will come!

Governor’s Project
You may conduct toy drives and have the items donated to the hospital. Once items are brought to the Hospital, some of our staff and trained volunteers will be able to distribute the items to our patients. Donations may be dropped off at both the Main Campus and the West Campus. All donations should be unwrapped to ensure age and gender appropriateness. Items will be distributed to patients at the campus where they are donated. Advance notice of donations is appreciated.
Movie Night - Host a movie night in the location of your choosing (ask for permission). You are not allowed to sell tickets or ask for entry fee’s due to copy right laws, but
you can ask for donations and sell stuff at a concession stand for cash!
Clothing Drive – Sometimes a family arrives totally unprepared for a long stay. Social Work frequently receives requests from the ER for cozy clothes including athletic pants, t-shirts and ‘hoodies’ as well as practical items like socks and underwear. From newborn to Adult XXL, a range of sizes is always needed. Clean out your closet and help out a family in need! Busy Books for Kids – For a little patient in a waiting room, boredom can set in
quickly. Assemble a “Busy Book” to entertain them as they wait. Use ribbon, yarn or staples to secure several coloring pages, mazes and/or word games into a small packet. Don’t forget to include a colorful cover page (perhaps decorated) and 3-4 crayons per packet. Busy Books for Adults – Parents get bored too! Help them pass the time by providing
a few pages of Sudoku, word finds and puzzles stapled in a packet. Don’t forget to attach a pen or pencil!
Jewelry Sale – Make and sell trinkets like bracelets and earrings to people for a price!
Be sure to take the price of the materials into mind that way you aren’t losing money!

What is the Youth The Basics you need Opportunity Fund? to know:
The Youth Opportunities Fund (YOF) is an endowed fund for Key Club International held within the Kiwanis International Foundation. This fund uses earned interest to help Key Clubs and Key Club members serve the world by providing grants for service opportunities. The fund also provides academic scholarships for higher education. The Youth Opportunities Fund is established through a portion of your Key Club International dues and through the purchase of G. Harold Martin Fellowships.

YOF grants are given only to Key Clubs and/or club members. Clubs may request funding assistance ranging anywhere from US$100 to US$2,000. The committee typically funds those clubs who are asking for a portion of the total cost of the project, and clubs who are working with other organizations to fund and complete the project. Guidelines for filing the application are also listed in the Key Club Guidebook under Board Policies. Visit keyclub.org for more info!
