From June 25 - June 29, the U.S. Senior Open will offer a week of thrilling golf and fan activities. Beyond the championship rounds, attendees can enjoy interactive experiences, browse limited-edition Senior Open merchandise, and enjoy opportunities to engage with pros. Be Part of History
The Broadmoor, a luxury resort framed by the Rocky Mountains, has a rich legacy of hosting major golf events. Since opening in 1918, it has hosted nine major championships, including the 1959 U.S. Amateur (Jack Nicklaus’ first major win) and the 1995 U.S. Women’s Open (Annika Soren-
stam’s first major title). Most recently, the East Course hosted the 2018 U.S. Senior Open, where David Toms held off the field including his closest pursuer Miguel Angel Jimenez for a dramatic victory on the 72nd hole. The East Course, crafted by Donald Ross and Robert Trent Jones, Sr., offers a meticulously maintained and challenging venue for the Senior Open, with its worldclass amenities and scenic vistas enhancing the experience.
The U.S. Senior Open, conducted by the USGA, is a premier event for golfers aged 50 and older, drawing legendary names and fan favorites. Come cheer on Fred Couples,
Padraig Harrington, Ernie Els, Jim Furyk, Steve Stricker and other legends of the game as we celebrate the careers of players who have left a lasting impact on the sport yet still yearn for this coveted National Championship. These iconic players, and dozens more, will all be competing for the esteemed trophy that signifies excellence in senior golf.
Long-time Coloradoan and World Golf Hall of Fame member Hale Irwin has been named honorary chair of the event. Irwin, an exceptional athlete at the University of Colorado, went on to win two U.S. Open and three U.S. Senior Open Champi-

onships. “The Broadmoor is special place for me, my wife Sally, and our family along with my great association with long-time director of golf Dow Finsterwald. It is revered in the history of professional and amateur golf with great champions from (Jack) Nicklaus to (Annika) Sorenstam. I know how much the region, especially the Colorado Springs and Denver communities, will support this championship but also appreciates this great game.”

Iconic Evergreen Golf Course Celebrates 100 Years of Golf and Scenic Beauty
Evergreen Golf Course, a cherished gem within the Denver Parks and Recreation Mountain Park system, is proud to celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2025. Since its creation as part of the historic Dedisse Ranch, Evergreen Golf Course has stood as a testament to both the rich heritage of the area and the timeless appeal of mountain golf. Over the past century, it has grown into Denver Golf’s signature mountain course, offering breathtaking views, challenging holes, and a tranquil escape from city life.
The course’s origins date back to 1925 when the City of Denver acquired the Dedisse Ranch property with plans to build a reservoir and recreational lake. It wasn’t long before the city constructed a nine-
hole golf course on the land, possibly designed by architect Jacques Benedict. This early design laid the foundation for what would become one of Denver’s most iconic golfing locations.
In 1983, Evergreen Golf Course underwent a significant remodel under the vision of Babe Lind, who believed it could become the “mountain jewel” of Denver’s municipal golf system. With newly seeded fairways, groomed greens, and a completely redesigned layout, the course re-opened in June 1983 and has since become a beloved destination for golfers of all levels.
The course features a number of unique holes, including the famed third hole, also known as the “rock hole.” This par-three,
measuring 109 yards, plays over a large rock formation and up a hill to a blind green. Golfers ring a bell once they’ve cleared the green to signal the next group, ensuring safety while enjoying the course’s natural beauty. The rock hole remains one of the most photographed holes at the course and continues to be a fan favorite.
At an elevation of 7,220 feet, Evergreen Golf Course offers stunning views of Bear Creek Valley and Evergreen Lake, with rolling hills and fairways lined by towering pine trees. The 18-hole, Par 69 course is not only a challenge for players but also a peaceful retreat where wildlife sightings, including elk, deer and marmots, are common. After a round of golf, visitors can enjoy a meal at the
restaurant in the club house, or shop at the pro shop, which is fully stocked with golf gear and apparel.
To commemorate 100 years of golfing excellence, Evergreen Golf Course will host a year-long celebration, including special events and more. Whether you play this course on a regular basis, or are a firsttime visitor, 2025 promises to be an unforgettable year at Evergreen Golf Course. About Denver Golf: Denver Golf has seven other venues with outstanding course conditions at the most affordable prices. From urban golf settings to mountain vistas, you will find it all here in Denver. If you live anywhere in the Denver Metro area, there is bound to be a course right in your back yard D
