Galatians 6:10 says, “Don’t miss an opportunity to be good to people.” When you do that, you’re sowing a seed for God to be good to you. Take time to compliment someone and brighten their day. That doesn’t cost anything.” …… Joel Osteen It’s impossible to express the feelings of despair and devastation the people of the flooded areas here along the Gulf Coast area have. Louisiana seemed to take it on the chin again. Hat’s off to the Cajun Navy and all the first responders who took their boats to the streets and evacuated the thousands of people who were trapped in their homes and vehicles. With such a large area under water the Katrina flood survivors, local churches, clubs & originations, car clubs are all steppin’ up to help out. Flooded news stories filled the television stations with images. MotorSports even felt an unexpected outcome. For the last several years Baton Rouge Press printed and mailed our magazine. They like so many business had to shut down and hope to resume business soon. Some business may not rebuild. Just think about the fact that a heavy rain storm made thousands of people loose their day to day lives. On the cover this month is just one of the many stories from this troubling time.

Vaseline survey A man doing market research knocked on a door and was greeted by a young woman with three small children running around at her feet. He says, 'I'm doing some research for Vaseline. Have you ever used the product?' She says, 'Yes. My husband and I use it all the time.' 'And if you don't mind me asking, what do you use it for?' 'We use it for sex.' The researcher was a little taken back. 'Usually people lie to me and say that they use it on a child's bicycle chain or to help with a gate hinge. But, in fact, I know that most people do use it for sex. I admire you for your honesty. Since you've been frank so far, can you tell me exactly how you use it for sex?' The woman says, 'I don't mind telling you at all...My husband and I put it on the door knob and it keeps the kids out.' And you thought it was gonna be a dirty joke...! Shame on you!

I know you have heard of the dirty dozen .....this is the dirty half dozen!! This is the best crew on the whole Mississippi Gulf Coast. Thanks guys job well done…. Ronnie
I went to Red Creek Classics 6th annual antique car appreciation picnic at Flint Creek Water Park. Over 400 cars–n-trucks showed up to attend this years event. What a great venue for a car show and cruise-in. There was lot’s of shady parking spots along the lake and surrounding the event site. True southern hospitality was extended by the members of Red Creek Classics car club. Friday we cruised the countryside and some of the businesses to get our ‘Cruise for Cash’ cards stamped. Saturday morning there was a steady stream of cars & trucks pulling into Flint Creek Water Park. There was plenty of shady parking spots near the building where the free picnic lunch was being served. People set up EZ-ups or circled their chairs then wondered about visiting. A truly relaxing event for everyone.. well almost everyone.. The Red Creek Classics volunteers (there were yellow shirts everywhere) did a great job of making sure everything ran smoothly. Besides the hundreds of hamburgers and hot-dogs served there were lot’s of homemade side dishes, and plenty of the cakes & cookies I like. The NSRA held their Mississippi Appreciation day during the event and “Chicken” Willie Smith (MS state rep) celebrated his birthday during the event. (more cake) If you didn’t make it this year, look forward to July 21-22 2017 that’s when the Red Creek Classics will have the 7th annual antique car appreciation picnic at Flint Creek Water Park. This is a two day event at Flint Creek Water Park, Wiggins, MS. If you want to rent a cabin or camping spot you may want to do it soon. 601 928-3051 or 601 928-2753. Now it’s September already.. lot’s events going on for the next few months. As of Sept. 1st there are only seventeen Fridays till Christmas. And there are car shows, cruise-in’s, special events and parties to go too. Life is good… Here are some of this months e-mails….

Retired members of all the armed forces, firefighters and police officers were recognized and embroidered caps given to the eldest person of each category. The NSRA were present, offering safety inspections, memberships, etc. They also presented an appreciation Plaque to the Red Creek Classics for all the good the club does for the old auto hobby and for sponsoring this event. Charlie Farmer accepted the award on behalf of all our members giving thanks to all of you who have made the event possible. You cannot know how much your help and support has meant to Charlie. This event was concluded with the 50/50 drawing of $1,180.00 to the winner. Charlie extends his most appreciative thank you to all the members who helped with this event. It would not be possible without dedicated members coming out to perform the various chores needed to make this a success. We heard many positive comments from guests who attended and they are looking forward to coming again next year. Next year's event will take place a week earlier than this year. July 21-22 2017 Mary McVeigh Hey there Jimbo! Greetings from central Pennsylvania. Sign me up for another year of Gulf Coast MotorSports Magazine. I don’t want to miss out. You do a great job of putting together just the right mix of everything that appeals to me and I look forward to receiving it in my mailbox each month. I am “old school” with no computer access or e-mail so the paper copy is right up my alley. I also appreciate how you seal it in plastic so it always arrives in perfect condition. Two other magazines I get are often very beat up by the time they get here and they do not travel as far as yours does. Your extra care is much appreciated. Keep up the great work! Thank you, Rich Sutton.

Thanks, Kaye Jones Jimbo, Black Bra & Heels (as told by a woman) I had lunch with 2 of my unmarried friends. One is engaged, one is a mistress, and I have been married for 20+ years. We were chatting about our relationships and decided to amaze our men by greeting them at the door wearing a black bra, stiletto heels and a mask over our eyes. We agreed to meet in few days to exchange notes. Here's how it all went......... My engaged friend: The other night when my boyfriend came over he found me with a black leather bodice, tall stilettos and a mask. He saw me and said, 'You are the woman of my dreams...I love you.' Then we made passionate love all night long. The mistress: Me too! The other night I met my lover at his office and I was wearing a raincoat, under it only the black bra, heels and mask over my eyes. When I opened the raincoat he didn't say a word, but he started to tremble and we
had wild sex all night. Then I had to share my story: When my husband came home I was wearing the black bra, black stockings, stilettos and a mask over my eyes. When he came in the door and saw me he said,........... "What's for dinner, Zorro?" Jimbo, Yesterday my daughter e-mailed me again, asking why I didn't do something useful with my time. “Like sitting around the pool and drinking wine is not a good thing?” I asked. Talking about my "doing-somethinguseful" seems to be her favorite topic of conversation. She was "only thinking of me", she said and suggested that I go down to the Senior Center and hang out with the guys. I did this and when I got home last night, I decided to play a prank on her. I e-mailed her and told her that I had joined a Parachute Club. She replied, "Are you nuts? You are 78 years old and now you're going to start jumping out of airplanes?" I told her that I even got a Membership Card and e-mailed a copy to her. She immediately telephoned me and yelled, "Good grief, Mom, where are your glasses?! This is a Membership to a Prostitute Club, not a Parachute Club." "Oh man, I'm in trouble again,” I said, “I really don't know what to do. I signed up for five jumps a week!!" The line went quiet and her friend picked up the phone and said that my daughter had fainted. Life as a Senior Citizen is not getting any easier, but sometimes it can be fun. By: the Orange Grove Rebel Writer God: Noah, build thee an Ark of gopher wood. I'm going to make it rain. Noah: Sure God no problem, but what's an ark...what's rain ? Without question thus did Noah, according to all God commanded him. I'm not certain how I would have responded to such a command but Brother Noah didn't hesitate. Apparently neither has Hank and Sherri Robbins of Tuscumbia Alabama. When God impressed upon them to donate their immaculate $60,000.00 1968 Camaro to a ministry called Building Believers in Christ (BBIC), there was no hesitation. This act of great faith has provided the mission work of BBIC an opportunity to raise funds to help support their endeavors in the country of Guatemala. You have an opportunity to possibly own this fine 1968 Camaro which has an extensive build sheet. Starting with a Brodix 383 stroker, Richmond 5 Speed Transmission and a continuing list of the best of the best. This creation could be yours if you happen to purchase the winning raffle ticket. Yes, this car is being raffled with the drawing taking place November 5th, 2016.100 percent of the proceeds goes to charity. Tickets are $20.00 each or 6 for $100.00. I grew up during a time when everyone treated each other like Family. We went outside to play, we got dirty and we didn't eat fast food....we ate sandwiches, candy, pickles and snowballs. We played Simon Says, Mother May I, Red Light, Green Light, Hide and Go Seek, Jacks, Marbles, Tag, Touch football, Hopscotch, Double dutch, Checkers, Dominoes and raced against each other in the street. There was no bottled water, we drank from the water hose. We watched cartoons on Saturday mornings, walked to the corner store and rode our bikes for hours without a cellphone. We weren't AFRAID OF ANYTHING not even The Police. If someone had a fight, that's what it was...a fist fight. Kids didn't have guns when I grew up. The street lights were your curfew. School was mandatory. We watched our mouths around our elders because we knew If you DISRESPECTED any grown up you're gonna get HIT with whatever's close... Tommy Hayes

So I recycled my refrigerator... 11hp opens from the top using the original fridge handle. Still have a little more to do but this is pretty much how it's gonna look‌ Jon Roberts - Damascus, MD A city lawyer runs a stop sign down in Cajun country and gets pulled over by Deputy Sheriff Boudreaux. He thinks that he is smarter than the Deputy because he is sure that he has a better education. He decides to prove this to himself and have some fun at the deputy's expense . . . Deputy Boudreaux says, "License and registration, please." City lawyer says, "What for?" Deputy says, "You didn't come to a complete stop at da stop sign ." Lawyer says, "I slowed down, and no one was coming." Deputy says, "You still didn't come to a complete stop. License and registration, please." Lawyer says, "What's the difference?" Deputy says, "Da difference is, you have to come to a complete stop! Dat's da law. License and registration, please!" Lawyer says, "If you can show me the legal difference between slow down and stop, I'll give you my license and registration and you give me the ticket. If not you let me go and no ticket." Deputy Boudreaux says, "Exit your vehicle, sir." At this point, the deputy takes out his nightstick and starts beating the ever-loving crap out of the lawyer and says: "Do you want me to stop or just slow down?"

The Cole Report
The Cole Report We begin this report will a cool little gathering at Flint Creek in Wiggins. The annual Red Creek Classic Clubs appreciation picnic and cruisin, along with the NSRA appreciation day. They had over 400+ cars and more food than you could eat. This really is a local one you shouldn't miss Charlie and the club do a great job. Next up was the Pass Harbor Cruisin this one always is a nice cruisin to just kick back and tell stories at. We made it over to a little show in Bay St. Louis at Anita's for a fundraiser, Then headed over to the 1st.Sat.Edgewater Mall cruisin. This is always a fun one usually drawing 100+ cars, also plenty of shopping and places to eat. The 2nd. Sat. brought us to the Train Depot under the Oaks in Bay St. Louis. Lots of shade at this one and good restaurants. The 4th Friday brought us to Kiln Ms. for the Cruisin Cafe's new 4th Friday cruisin. They have a couple different meal specials for the cruisers, 45+ cars at the first cruisin. The 4th Sat. found us at the Long Beach Harbor for an oldie but goodie on the cruisin circuit. Always a good time and plenty places to eat. We also made several of the Silver Slipper Casino's weekly Thursday night car/bike nights. We'll see y'all somewhere or everywhere, and remember to watch for our friends out cruisin on bikes.
Remember Misfits Street Krewzers, we can and have made a difference in people/children's lives for 18 plus years. Lets make the years to come even better. And don't forget our sister clubs all along the coast/inland that support us and we support them in their community events/fundraisers. Look at Cruisin The Coast and what we as clubs do just to work/ park 7000+ plus cars each year, way to go volunteers. Also when you support the local cruise-ins just simply buying 50/50 tickets you help make a difference. .. Al Cole

Gizmos Carriage House AKA Poppys Garage - September 2016 Between the Queen and I we own enough cars trucks and Suv's and other wheeled conveyances to provide transportation to a fairly large family, but there is only two of us. We do seem to keep the tag office and the insurance carriers well stocked in capitol. Keeping these vehicles maintained is quite another story as well. Which leads me to my following discussion. The NSRA has a pretty neat program that they provide free of charge, yes that means no cost to you. A member of their inspection team will do a safety check of your old car and point out or identify a thing or two that may need your attention or in fact sometimes a much needed immediate repair. The folks that do this will also, if your vehicle passes, give you a neat little sticker to place on your windshield to let all know you meet the safety requirements. I always look at this as another set of eyes, that may see something out of the ordinary that we sometimes accept or overlook. This program is not just limited to NSRA members, these folks will gladly inspect most any old cars, and who knows you just may want to become an NSRA member. Its a great program and a great service with only one intent and that is to help you drive a Safe, roadworthy vehicle. Did I mention this was free also, it don't get any better than that. I recently had to park my hotrod and do some inspecting of my own, it seems I had a funny noise kind of a clacking sound that seemed to be coming from my left front. After raising it up on stands and removing most if not all of the left front, axle, brake rotor and caliper assembly and further digging I found the possible noise. I have a straight axle and early Ford spindles, and I do grease it regularly, but I found some slight up and down movement of the spindle itself. After further disassembly the little bearing between the spindle and axle had gotten a little loose. Found a new set of those bearings packed them well with grease and did both sides. They were both the same age so why not. I also chose to get the rotors turned since they were both removed, inspected and repacked all of the wheel bearings. And no more noise. While I was there I also noticed my fan belt was beginning to look a little ragged on the edges. So a new belt, and while I'm at it lets do an oil change. So now the little car is freshened up a bit and ready, I hope, for several major cruising events. I do believe most of us only use these old cars on weekends and going to cruise ins or an occasional car show, the rest of the time we use our daily drivers for chasing down parts and for work and possibly bringing home another project that one just cant pass up. I need a bigger garage or a smaller fleet of vehicles but I would not know which one of these things I want to give up. Proper maintenance is a must for all of the motorized as well as not motorized wheeled vehicles we all own. And a second set of eyes looking at your old ride is a very good thing. Thanks NSRA for the Safety program you provide and Thank You to all that Volunteer your time and energy in this worthy cause. Next time you are out and about and see one of these folks stop and say hi and thank them, and maybe ask for an inspection you may be glad you did. Got to go the Queen just alerted me of a strange noise coming from the back of her daily ride, I just hope its not a bad muffler bearing. Have a great Labor Day weekend, and hope to see some of you out and about. Later and do try to stay cool Gizmo
I didn’t do a Hot Coffee for last issues. In June I went to my family reunion in Okla. then on out to Colorado to visit my brothers and sister. Came back in time to do the dinner cruise to Lambert’s in Foley, Al , before knee surgery. Now if you haven’t been to a Lambert’s (home of the thrown roll) you need to go. There are only 3 in the U.S., one in Alabama, Arkansas and Missouri. Lambert’s is southern home cooking. They have this thing called pass arounds. After you get you entrée you get your pass arounds. That includes, fries okra, stewed tomatoes, fried potatoes, mac and cheese, pinto beans and I may have left a couple out. And the famous thrown roll (If you miss the roll let it hit the floor and they throw you another one) The Coast Cruizers met at park and ride in Ocean Springs, MS and drove over. We had 21 people drive over. Some drove their old cars and others in their everyday cars. After we ate, everybody had something they wanted to do. Some of us went to the outlet mall; some went to the pottery place others had places they wanted to see. Everybody got back home safe and our next dinner run is at the end of August. Till we eat again J. R.

Flint Creek Water Park in Wiggins, MS is a gem. We have spent many weekends enjoying the amenities of the park over the last 30 years. I have fond memories of the place. Flint Creek offers camping, swimming, boating, fishing and picnicking. It is a great place to take the family for a relaxing weekend of camping. There is nothing better than grilling out and telling tall tales around a camp fire. The campgrounds are wooded, so each campsite has a degree of privacy. Any chance I get to go to Flint Creek, I always like to go there. Red Creek Classics Car Club hosted their annual Appreciation Day Car Show in the park on July 30 and they joined forces with NSRA for a great car show. Since this show was a magazine coverage event for me, I loaded up the Hot Rod Show golf cart on my small trailer and headed out about 8 am Saturday morning to Wiggins, MS… only about a 30 minute drive or so from the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Upon arrival, I could see a lot of cars already parked. When you top the hill and see all the classic cars spread out through the pine trees with the lake in the background, it is a site to see. The first impression is a beautiful car show venue! I got the golf cart unloaded and started making my rounds. This was the largest number of cars I’ve ever seen at this event. The weather was great, with plenty of shade, a free show and free food how can you not want to attend this event. Also a nice breeze off the water helped to keep things cool most of the day. Charlie Farmer and Terry Webb with Red Creek Classics Car Club always put on a good show. NSRA was also set up doing their membership drive, Donna Holland was busy as a beaver and Jerry Cuevas (back on his feet after being in the hospital) was busy supervising NSRA Vehicle Inspections…it was also Chicken Willy’s birthday, so we all had birthday cake. Jimbo Perkins our magazine editor was my first rider of the day in the golf cart, we drove around the show checking out all the cool cars and trucks. With the two of us it was hard to go very far before running into someone we knew and stopping to chat. I was able to get some good shots. After getting back to Jimbo’s popup, sitting around with the guys for a while solving the problems of the world, J. R. with the Coast Cruizers jumped in the golf cart with me and we made another pass at the cars, talking with different people we ran across and taking more photos. Eye candy was at every turn. We saw people starting to lineup for lunch, so we made our way back to the tent thinking we’ll let the majority of the cruisers get through the food line and then we’ll go through. When we finally decided to go, we get in the door… some guy quickly tells us the line is on the other side of the building and out the door. As I was walking to the end of the line, more folks were
10
SEPTEMBER 2016
getting in line so I had to keep walking and walking. It was funny I couldn’t seem to get to the end of the line, every step I made toward the end of the line, more people would walk up, lol. With over 430 cars registered and an average of 2 people per car, there were a lot of folks for the Red Creek guys to feed. The car club had the food line well organized and the line did move fast. There was plenty to eat, hamburgers, hot dogs, various sides like pasta, potato chips, dessert, sweet tea and multiple choices of soft drinks. They did have a donation jar and after seeing all the food I had to contribute. These guys know how to eat. With this many cruisers the 50/50 jackpot was nice also. Charlie also gave away plenty of door prizes. It was a great day of fellowship, eye candy and car talk. The Red Creek Classic Car Club and the NSRA Annual Appreciation Day Car Show…I think the attendees were the ones that appreciated the effort put forth for this show. The sky is the limit on how large this show can be… and Flint Creek Water Park is definitely a gem! As we get closer to our annual Mega event, Cruisin’ The Coast, the excitement is beginning to build…Get your Hot Rod out on the road for a shakedown cruise and enjoy that 17 FOREVER, state of mind! til next month…

Hello lovelies! I am back this month doing what I do best; being a girly girl! Never afraid to try a new beauty gizmo or find remarkable products to share with you, I have found some fabulous new treasures! It is time for my yearly beauty article, stocked full of beauty tips, tricks, how-tos, what to use and even some beneficial new additions for bath time! I have found a number of great products to add to your beauty regimen. Looking for the perfect pout without spending hundreds of dollars injecting your lips? Well pucker up for the new way to get full, luscious lips for just a mere fraction of the price. Fullips is a small, red, rubber-type product that works by using self-suction to enhance your lip-line and give added fullness, allowing you to always be in control of your desired look. There are three kinds to choose from: Large Round for overall lip fullness in people that already have bigger lips to begin with, Medium Oval for small to medium sized mouths or thin lips since you can target your upper and lower lips separately and Small Oval to target certain areas like Cupid’s Bow and the center of the mouth in those people who have smaller lips. To use the fullips enhancer, wet the area around the mouth and lips for better suction. Then place your enhancer over the mouth area and begin to suck in gently. You want to take short small breathes in, almost as if you are drinking from a straw. Allow an air -tight seal to form. As you suck the air out of the fullips enhancer, you will feel a gentle pulling of your lips into the enhancer. Relax your lips once the enhancer is on. If needed, push your tongue through your teeth and use it like a plug to create the soft, gentle suction which gives the best results. Only use gentle suction as hard suction is not necessary and it can cause bruising. Start slowly, until you are comfortable using the device.
12
SEPTEMBER 2016
Let it sit on your lips for 5-30 seconds so that you can check inbetween on how your results are doing. You can remove the fullips enhancer by using your finger to break the suction and check the progress or by pulling your tongue back into your mouth so the enhancer will fall right off. The amount of time for leaving fullips on will vary for the individual. Repeat the above steps until desired fullness is reached. Lastly, apply your lip cosmetics as usual. Check out fullips.com for how-to videos highlighting different techniques or to purchase one of their three lip enhancers for only $20. You can purchase one of their three shapes of lip enhancers, a combination pack with different sizes or some of their lip glosses and beauty products. Their line of lip glosses help to keep lips full after using the enhancer. Fullips products are also available on Amazon. The best thing is that the enhanced lip fullness you get from any of the three enhancers will last at least two hours. What shade of red lipstick do I wear is a beauty question I have been asked many times. I understand women inquiring because it was actually somewhat challenging for me to find just the right shade of pinup red for my lips. While shades will vary on people because of their skin tones, my go-to when I want femme fatale looking red lips is Wet N Wild’s Spotlight Red. It is the perfect shade of stop traffic red. Another great red lipstick, although it is a touch darker of red, is NYC’s Retro Red. Both shades of siren red will leave your lips looking dangerously kissable. If you want add a little something to really make your red lips pop, add some clear or reddish tinted lip gloss on top of your lipstick. You can place the gloss all over your lips or to create a 3D effect ideal of photos, place a dab of gloss on the middle of your bottom lip. As the queen of vintage glamour Dita Von Teese said, “Heels and red lipstick will put the fear of God into people.” A bath is one of those little things we women love, a quiet time to relax, unwind after a long day, maybe indulge with a good book and a glass of wine, and just not worry about taking care of everyone else, if even for 20 minutes. It is your time to just be a little selfish. Looking for a super soft sponge for bath time soaking or exfoliating? Why not try an all-natural sponge, straight from the ocean! Where I live in Florida is just a short drive away from Tarpon Springs, a popular fishing town known for its Greek culture and cuisine, as well as for its fishermen who catch the freshest of seafood for the town’s restaurants. In addition to catching delicious shrimp and fish, the locals have been fishing and bringing up sponges from this water for decades. Since I was a child, I have been coming to the area with my mother to get their sponges. The advantage to using an all-natural sponge is that it will not only last longer, but it is more durable and it will not mold or smell sour the way synthetic sponges do because of its natural oceanic properties. There are a variety of these sponges to purchase that all generally work the same. However the one that I would suggest getting is called a Mediterranean silk sponge. This luxurious little sponge is my favorite because it feels so soft on your skin, hence its silk namesake. The two small sponges in the middle of the photo are silk sponges. The sponge docks of Tarpon Springs, Florida are a great place to visit and to purchase a few sponges while you are there (they make great gifts too). Nonetheless, if you are not nearby, you can purchase a natural sea sponge online. In addition to the great L’Oréal tanning products that I discussed in last month’s article, there are two more products that I cannot miss the opportunity to mention. All L’Oréal mascaras are exceptional; they are the only kind I use. Particularly the
www.GulfCoastMotorSports.com
Voluminous Butterfly and the new L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Miss Manga Mascara can do wonders for your lashes. The second product I recommend is the new L’Oréal Root Touch Up spray, perfect for covering up your roots in between hair coloring or salon visits. Whether you have gray roots creeping in or want to disguise those roots that show your true hair color, just shake, spray and let it dry for complete root cover up in mere seconds. I got it to conceal my naturally dark roots that tend to appear much too fast after I highlight my hair blonde. Featuring six shades of sprayable, stick on color, the root touch up will last until your next shampoo. Do not be hesitant to stock your vanity with these exceptional L’Oréal products. Another stellar product to add to your glam bag is makeup primer. If you have never used it before, you have missed out on the best tool for helping your makeup to last longer. Makeup primer can control shine and create a smoother, more flawless base for your foundation. Apply it all over the face, including the eyelids as eyeshadow tends to wear off more rapidly. The primer gives makeup something to hold on to while it smooths lines and wrinkles and covers pores. I heard about using primer from friends, however it was not something that I had invested in. When I finally decided to give it a try I checked out reviews and online video tutorials to see what makeup artists were using. The most often used and best reviewed product was Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer, which costs around $30. Since purchasing this primer, I have been impressed with the results. It is definitely a product that I would recommend buying. Add a scented bath bomb to your bath for a swirly, colorful, fragrant bath experience. Rapidly increasing in popularity, this neat new product is taking social media by storm. Bath bombs are a hard-packed mixture of ingredients that effervesce for several minutes when wet. When placed in water, the carbon dioxide bubbles out, adding a spa-type sensation on the skin while adding essential oils, fabulous fragrances and an array of colors. The bombs come in different shapes, such as stars or cupcakes. The most popular seller of bath bomb assortments is Lush. Lush sells its bombs on Amazon and on their website at www.lushusa.com. Two brands taking the fizzy, fun bath time experience of bath bombs to the next level are Fragrant Jewels w w w. f r a g r a n t j e we l s . c o m and P ea r l B at h Bombs www.pearlbathbombs.com. Both of these bath bomb makers include a gorgeous ring encased in the bomb that floats to the surface as it dissolves. In addition, customers get a chance to win another ring that is worth up to $10,000. I have always loved adding rose petals to my bath water. While you can add fresh petals to the water, anytime I get a bouquet of flowers, I save the different types of flowers. Once the flowers die, I peel off the petals so I can add them to my bath water. You can throw them loosely in the bath with you or if you would rather not have to clean the petals out of the tub later, you can always put all of the petals in a small drawstring herb bag. Let the bag float in the tub with you or hang it from the faucet so the water runs through it as the tub fills up. Ancient Greeks and Romans used rose petals to perfume their baths, undoubtedly knowing of their natural aids. I have used the petals to not only add a lovely fragrance to my bath water, but likewise, to leave my skin feeling soft after the bath. The natural oils of roses help retain skin’s moisture and the sugar in rose
petals is particularly useful for people with sensitive skin. In fact, rose water has a number of benefits. It tones and softens skin, can act as sunscreen, helps fight acne, nourishes scalp, helps you sleep better and can even improve your mood. Below are the recipes for two detoxifying baths that are perfect for health and relaxation. These recipes were featured on The List TV and created by Tarashaun Hausener, the CEO of Blender Babes, an awesome website to stop by next time you are surfing the web. As with anything detoxifying, make sure to drink plenty of water both before and after your cleansing bath. For a basic detox bath, simply mix one cup of Epsom salt with two cups of baking soda. This combination is the basis for pulling toxins from your body. The second recipe is for an invigorating bath. Start with the above detox bath base, then add some ground ginger and any scent of citrus oil that you fancy. This bath will give you an instant energy boost. Another great scent that I love to add to any bath is patchouli. The herb, also called hippie perfume, is best known for its properties as an antidepressant. Patchouli comes from a plant in the mint family which has properties as an antiseptic, aphrodisiac, diuretic, deodorant, sedative, fungicide and insecticide. Adding essential patchouli oil to a bath can uplift mood, relax tension and among other uses, soothe inflammation, making it perfect for helping conditions like arthritis and gout. Alright kittens, time to soak in the tub and take some time just for you! I hope the above products and recipes help you feel relaxed, refreshed and gorgeous just in time for back to school season.

The Ronnie McLain Story When we pass people on the street we have no idea what talents and stories lurk within. One of the great joys in my life has been being able to sit down and talk to people and learn their fascinating stories. Here is the story of Ronnie McLain, a man that you could see in a store and never know of his genius. I am humbled with the opportunity to tell a part of his story. He is so complex that I cannot capture him completely in this article. I know the lives he has touched hold him dearly in their hearts. Ronnie is a metal fabricator, welder, car builder, musical instrument crafter, pilot, home builder, sign maker, pinstriper, Ultra light flying machine builder, football player, motorcycle racer, draftsman, (just to name a few of his talents) and is still a Pastor at the Bedford Free Methodist Church at age 73. Whew! All the different things he has accomplished make me appear lazy. I didn’t know there were enough hours in a day to accomplish all these things! He has even more accomplishments than I have space to write about. Ronnie McLain is currently finishing up a 1932 Ford with a hand built racing chassis and a stainless steel exhaust. My photos don’t really portray the complex build that this was. All he started with was a chopped top 1932 Ford body that he found, and an idea. The rest of the car he fabricated. The first thing he designed and built was the frame. Ronnie started with 2” X 6” X 3/16” wall steel to make the frame. I have included photos of the original plans he used. The complexity involved in building this frame boggles my mind. Once the foundation was built, he built a sprint car positive steering gear, built a two radius rod race car set-up, sway bars and a 4 link suspension, added a dropped front axle, a Camaro 273 Posi rear end, Lokar shifter, four corner air bags with a stainless air tank, power 4 wheel disc brakes, power windows, power door locks, an opening rear window, a Chevrolet 350 engine bored .030 over, Edelbrock Performer carburetor, aluminum radiator, hand fabricated the grille, put on ‘40 Ford spindles, 7 X 15 Speedway wheels, suicide doors, and bucket seats, just to scratch the surface of this build. This is a masterpiece and one you will not see two of. Ronnie McLain is planning on handing down this car to his granddaughter, Indy. Ronnie feels that: “God gives us the ability to do things. He wants us to do them well, but not forget Him in the process.” Paul writes in Romans 12: 1,2: And so dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all He has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind He will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship Him. Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. Well, Ronnie McLain certainly does things well. He is using his talents and the results are all positive. I give a big thank you to Ronnie McLain for allowing me to share his story. Gotta Cruise!

Do you clutch the wheel a little tighter as you pass a semi or other large trucks? You're not alone. Semis and large trucks navigate the roadways differently than other vehicles. Learning what they need - and what you can do - can help you safely share the road with large trucks. What's Different About Driving Large Trucks or Semis? Drivers of heavy trucks face a few difficulties on the road, including: Reduced field of vision. Truck drivers have multiple blind spots on both sides, in front of and behind their trucks. Longer stopping time. A large truck's size and weight increases its stopping distance. For example: If large trucks are going 65 miles per hour, they could need up to 200 yards - nearly the length of two football fields - to stop. Slower reactions. Most vehicles can merge quickly. Large trucks can't because of size. Wind vulnerability. Semis have a lot of surface area, making them harder to control when the wind picks up. Wide turns. Large trucks need plenty of room to make turns - especially right turns. What You Can Do Pass safely. Always pass on the left - the blind spot is smaller on this side - and maintain a steady speed. Give them space. Keep a safe following distance - four seconds or more - between you and large trucks to help avoid dangerous situations, such as sudden stops (and subsequent rear-ending), a truck rollover over in high wind, a tire blowout or a wide truck turn. Note: If you can’t see the trucks mirrors, they can’t see you.
NSRA Merit Award is presented for excellence in Construction, Design and Safety of their vehicle, exhibiting the Qualities of a dedicated Rodder by participating in activities and operation their vehicle in a safe manner. I presented this award to Bobby Rehage with his 1940 Chevy Sedan. The other award went to Kenny and Patty Warino with their 1969 Olds Cutless Convertible.
The safety of your street rod is of vital importance. If the street rod does not meet a certain set of guidelines, an accident can cause more than just replacing the parts. The NSRA or National Street Rod Association is the organization doing the safety inspections. Keep in mind that these safety inspections are completely voluntary. In most cases, safety inspections can be done at many of the street rod shows around the country. Generally, when a safety inspection is done, it is good for one year. www.streetrod101.com/safety-inspection.html

Kenneth Fennell writes, I have over 4.5 million accident free safe miles driving 18 wheelers over a 38 year period. From a driver's perspective, please do not ride beside the big rigs. If need be increase your speed to pass quickly. the most unsafe place to be around an 18 wheeler on the interstate is riding beside one. You do not know the conditions of the truck's tires or the condition of the driver. Either one can present a danger if the truck blows out a tire when you are beside him or the driver drifts across the line into your lane. Even in my truck I'm always aware of the lane position of the truck I'm passing, by paying attention to his tires relative to the lines marking the lane. At times I will drop the hammer to get by as quickly as possible. Going down hill a loaded truck will increase speed due to inertia and gravity, let the truck go, do not race him. It is much safer to pass him going up the next grade rather than staying beside him at high speeds. Many times depending upon the terrain the truck may be "getting a run for the hill" He needs to increase momentum to maintain a decent speed up the other side. This only helps to maintain the flow for everyone. Do not race the trucks. These men and women are working a job. They are not trying to delay you or intimidate you. When a truck turns on his left blinker you should let him make the lane change not increase your speed to cut him off. You can't see what he sees up ahead and by letting the truck over to the left it may prevent an accident that you both could be involved in. Do not get impatient and pass on the right side to try and cut between two trucks by swerving from the right lane into the passing lane. The truck in the right lane may slow down unexpectedly closing the gap between him and the truck in the left lane that is trying to pass him. This move will put you in a squeeze between two 18 wheelers and everyone loses. A little common sense, courtesy and patience will make your journey a safe one for everyone you pass and everyone that passes you. Getting in a hurry usually causes a very bad day for everyone. There are a lot of new drivers in these trucks nowadays and the same for the four wheelers. Parents, teach your children well about highway safety and sharing the road with the big rigs. Be aware. Stay alert at all times, and keep your proximity to large trucks in mind as you share the road. In a smaller vehicle, you can maneuver more quickly which can help you stay out of danger.

ocated in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains in Northeast Georgia you'll find the beautiful city of Hiawassee, Georgia. It's home to Lake Chatuge and The Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds. It's such a perfect setting for what's now become the birthplace of "The Mountain Moonshine Cruiz-In" It once held the main trail ways to easily run moonshine across four state lines, dating as far back as the early 20th century. Farmers and moonshiners still love to tell the tales and even brag a bit about the history of the place. This is the 8th Annual event brought to us by Robert "Rakes" and Lisa Parish. It proved to be everything I thought it was going to be and more. Three fun filled days full of southern hospitality and good ole mountain hillbilly fun. There were beautiful views from every inch of this quiet little town. Antique stores on every corner, restaurant's with patios to enjoy a good meal with many views from each seat and the pioneer village tucked away in the shady tree line of the mountains at the fairgrounds. There was a real moonshine still, that is up and running even to this day. There were an assortment of crafts and a stand with homemade soaps along with the large variety of vendors to visit that lined up along the pathways. There was homemade ice cream to eat and the smell of fresh fried green tomatoes would make your mouth water. One of my favorite things was the stand with event T-shirts like you see at all the shows. I have my very own collection now that I wear and have fond memories of each event I've been fortunate enough to attend. Mix all that in with a large number of classic cars, hot rods, trucks, bikes, rat rods and a nice size swap meet and you have a recipe for a great time. I can tell you from experience, its a place you'll want to add to your bucket list.

It started off with a winding 60 mile cruise on Thursday afternoon down the same mountain roads that the ole moonshiners ran, haulin' that "white lightning. That evening there was live Honky-Tonk music to get things really kicking. There was also some good food and of course plenty of moonshine if you were in search of a more swift kick. As I walked around and saw cars rolling in I could just feel the energy building up and the excitement for what the rest of the weekend had in store. I'm so caught up in the festive mood, I remind myself not to enjoy too much moonshine otherwise I may find out why they call it white lighting. Friday morning I woke up to the sun starting to rise over the mountain peeks. I had to stop, take a deep breath and stare in awe at the beauty that is the back drop for this weekend of events. With every turn of my head I have a view of the lake or the mountains, what a majestic setting for this show. As I start the day I have already heard from the locals that they look forward to this event every year. Good clean family fun they say that

has only grown over the years. The show continues to grow as more and more people reach the top of the mountain. As evening arrives parking spots are steadily being filled. The vendors of course are set up and ready for action. I can't think of a better way to spend a Friday night than at The Mountain Moonshine Cruiz-In with live music and fresh moonshine.. The show offered gathering places and entertainment for us all to enjoy. I found myself sitting back and soaking up all the stories with pure enjoyment from people on what it took for them to make it to the show. I love the fellowship and many tales they all share. My favorites though, are the stories of the cars that we all either drove from states far away or tailored up the side of this mountain. I can now see the love we each have, not only for what's become my passion but also my hobby. I'm also starting realize that it's the same passion my parents have had for years. I guess we are more alike than I ever thought. We share a love for a well built car along with the history of a good story. We are now not only able to relive these times together, but we're also creating our very own memories. This has become something I'll always cherish. As Saturday morning rolled around you could tell the day was going to be another great turn out. Cars lined the streets with more people than it seemed the fairgrounds could hold. It would prove to be a day filled with old friends and new friends that we made along the way. People that were strangers only minutes before were
now sitting and sharing a story. A common love of cars brought us all together. People filled the walkways with cameras in hand, waiting to capture an image of a particular car and strolling down memory lane with a story about a Model A Ford or maybe a 1959 red Cadillac convertible. There's nothing quite like that feeling of nostalgia that can be sparked just from the sight of a classic car. It’s so neat hearing a story of someone's first date in that exact same car, or hearing of someone's grandfather that had the same 56 Chevy and it was his daily driver to and from work, and then how he taught him how to drive in it once he was grown. You'd be amazed at how an old car can bring such vivid memories back into someone's life in a blink of an eye and seeing the smile it brings to the faces of those people. It just gives you chills. Funny how a car can remind you of certain moments and warm your heart. With a mountainside full of people enjoying the sights, sounds and smells of what is now known as " The Mountain Moonshine Cruiz-In" and all that it offers and brings to this side of the Appalachian trails, I now have something else to add to my walk down memory lane list. The weekend turned into another wonderful weekend spent with those I care about dearly, along with all the new friends I have made over the past 3 days. I will look back on this chapter in my life one day and will be reminded of that 1952 Dodge Wayfarer I drove away in, leaving the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds behind. I watched the sun set on the ridge of those beautiful mountains as we were heading into the town square closing party. Of course with more live music, food to enjoy and you guessed it some more great local moonshine. I know I will travel home in the morning with memories from this great weekend event and that one day, years from now, I will relive the moment just like those I watched relive theirs over the past few days‌..Stefanie

We have a new section of this article coming next month, concerning oval track (dirt) racing. There will be Sprint Cars featured, including drivers, owners, officials etc. The home base is located in Hattiesburg and run some 7 or 8 states in the South and on the Gulf Coast. So, stay tuned and let me know what you readers would like to know. I know most of you would like to read about race cars that have roof, fenders, doors, windows, and trunks. But, you will find, Sprints are very dangerous, exciting, and fun to watch! Nobody on the Gulf Coast wants to drive 250 miles to see a dirt track Sprint Race! My guess is, we (us locals) would do 80 or 100 miles to take in the dirt! So, E-Mail me what you would like to see in this column. My good friend C.J. is out of the V.A. Hospital, I’m glad to report. The VA Hospital here is keeping me going, and it is great! Biloxi VA is great! September is not a good month for me, my good friend Ray Van Dorn (Bonneville Racer, and Drag Racer) he died in September 2010, but the bio thing was, he went 154 mph in 1948 in a streamliner with a 59AB flat head ford engine, built by Fred Einhouse in So. Calif. (see photo) Also gone along about September, local friend (Harold & Lillian’s Bar) was George, Mayfield (golden gloves) also died in September a few years ago. Country Singer Marty Robbins was born in Glendale, AZ in 1925, made my favorite song (El Paso). Most people don’t know he was a pretty good stock car driver in NASCAR! He competed in 35 races and finished in the top 10, 6 times. (see photo) In 1972 he completed in Nascar’s Race at Talladega Speedway, and he stunned the competition by coming from way back and passing the field in the middle of the race, taking the lead, and on the same lap pulled into the pits after taking the lead! The night before the race, Marty (or his help) took the carburetor to his hotel room, and removed the restrictor plate. Nascar wanted to award him “Rookie of the Race” but he refused to accept it! He replied “I just wanted to see what it was like to run up front for once”. Cotton Owens was builder and crew chief of Marty's car, and also maintained them between races. His Car numbers were #42 & # 22. Robbins bought the 1972 Dodge Charger from Owens, and had his 6 top 10 finishes and also a few mayor wrecks, so he paid Owens to put 73-74 Charger sheet metal on the chassis, and later (same chassis) 78 Dodge Magnum sheet metal which he ran until 1980. (this car now runs in Vintage Nascar Circuit). His last car was a 1981 Buick Regal which he ran a few times until his death in 1982. Marty’s songs, El Paso, his album “Gunfighter Ballard's and Trail Songs”, “My Woman, My Woman, My Wife”, “Big Iron” also sung by Johnny Cash, and my favorite “You gave me a mountain” recorded by Frankie Laine, also by Elvis Presley. Marty’s grandfather “Texas Bob Heckle” was a confederate soldier in the civil war, and spun many stores of the old west, (1860, 70’s, 80’) and many of Marty’s songs I’m sure were developed from “Texas Bobs” stories of the old west. “Notice” Email from SOS ASCS SOS Sprint Car has a website! In case you don’t have time, here is a couple of their payouts. $3500.00 to win the main, $400.00 to “qualify” for the main. They have a “B” main if they have enough cars. At this time connection to the Sprints, are William Webb, and Mike Miller. They are the promoters, and have done a fine job for over 5 years. Mike Miller has was last years champion. Ronnie Roberts was Rookie of the year. According to one source, the engines are 360 cubic inches in size, and put out over 700 H.P. Now all of you that Know that Dyno reports are sometimes unreadable, however 2 H.P. per cubic inch can be made with a blower. Perhaps some of you remember the fabulous Novi at Indianapolis, a dual overhead cam V-8 of 185 Cubic Inch's and put out 600 horsepower. (this was built by Bud Winfield and had 2 centrifugal blowers, not roots type). I'll have more info next month so stay with me. I am a, Conservative, Tax-Paying American, Gun Owning Veteran That's me! I believe in the freedom of religion, but I don't push it on others. I believe in American products and buy them whenever I can. I believe the money I make belongs to me and not some liberal governmental functionary, Democrat or Republican, that wants to share it with others who don't work! I'm in touch with my feelings and I like it that way! I think owning a gun doesn't make you a killer; it makes you a smart American. I think being a minority does not make you noble or victimized, and does not entitle you to anything. Get over it! I believe that if you are selling me a Big Mac or any other item, you should do it in English. I believe there should be no other language option for business. I believe everyone has a right to pray to his or her God when and where they want to. I don't hate the rich. I don't pity the poor. I know wrestling is fake and I don't waste my time watching or arguing about it. I've never owned a slave, nor was I a slave. I haven't burned any witches, and neither have you! I believe if you don't like the way things are here, go back to where you came from and change your own country! This is AMERICA ‌ We like it the way it is and more so the way it was ...so stop trying to change it to look like Russia or China, or some other socialist country! If you were born here and don't like it... you are free to move to any Socialist country that will have you. I believe it is time to really clean house, starting with the White House, the seat of our biggest problems. I want to know which church is it, exactly, where the Reverend Jesse Jackson preaches, where he gets his money, and why he is always part of the problem and not the solution? Can I get an AMEN on that one also I think the cops have the right to pull you over if you're breaking the law, regardless of what race or color you are. And, no, I don't mind having my face shown on my driver's license, nor the necessity of showing my identification, to conduct normal business or especially to vote. I think those policies are more than prudent....I think if you are too stupid to know how a ballot works, I don't want you deciding who should be running the most powerful nation in the world for the next four years. I dislike those people standing in the intersections trying to sell me stuff or trying to guilt me into making 'donations' to their cause....Get a job and do your part to support yourself and your family! I believe that it doesn't take a village to raise a child, it takes a man and woman ‌ I believe 'illegal' is illegal no matter what the lawyers, or progressive Democrats think! I want to return this country to the values it was founded on, and prospered under for over 240 years! My Country...I hope this offends all illegal aliens. Hypothetically, my great, great, great, great grandfather watched and bled as his friends died in the Revolution and the War of 1812. My great, great, great grandfather watched as his friends died in the Mexican American War. My great, great grandfather watched as his friends and brothers died in the Civil War. My great grandfather watched as his friends died in the Spanish-American War. My grandfather watched as his friends died in WW I. My father watched as his friends died in WW II and the Korean War. I watched as my friends died in Vietnam, Panama and Desert Storm. My son watched and bled as his friends died in Afghanistan and Iraq .. None of them died for the Mexican Flag. Everyone of them died for the American flag, and liberty. Texas high school students raised a Mexican flag on a school flag pole, other students took it down. Guess who was expelled...the students who took it down.
California high school students were sent home on Cinco de Mayo because they wore T-shirts with the American flag printed on them. Enough is enough! This article needs to be viewed by every American; and every American needs to stand up for America. We've bent over to appease the America-haters long enough. I'm taking a stand. I'm standing up because of the hundreds of thousands who died fighting in wars, preserving liberty and freedom both, here and in other besieged nations, for the American flag, and all she stands for.. AMERICANS, stop giving away Your RIGHTS! Let me make this clear! THIS IS MY COUNTRY! This statement DOES NOT mean I'm against immigration! Jimbo, The folks who are getting the free stuff don't like the folks who are paying for the free stuff, because the folks who are paying for the free stuff can no longer afford to pay for both the free stuff and their own stuff. And the folks who are paying for the free stuff want the free stuff to stop. And the folks who are getting the free stuff want even more free stuff on top of the free stuff they are already getting! Now... the people who are forcing the people who pay for the free stuff have told the people who are RECEIVING the free stuff that the people who are PAYING for the free stuff are being mean, prejudiced, and racist. So... the people who are GETTING the free stuff have been convinced they need to hate the people who are paying for the free stuff by the people who are forcing some people to pay for their free stuff and giving them the free stuff in the first place. We have let the free stuff giving go on for so long that there are now more people getting free stuff than paying for the free stuff. Now understand this. All great democracies have committed financial suicide somewhere between 200 and 250 years after being founded. The reason? The voters figured out they could vote themselves money from the treasury by electing people who promised to give them money from the treasury in exchange for electing them. The United States officially became a Republic in 1776, 240 years ago. The number of people now getting free stuff outnumbers the people paying for the free stuff. Failure to change that spells the end of the United States as we know it. For all our sake PLEASE Take a Stand!!! A Nation of Sheep Breeds a Government of Wolves!

The Legend of Fred In the not too distant past, along the bank of quite an ordinary stream, lived a frog who liked to call himself Fred. In his early years, Fred's days went much the same way: enjoying the outdoors, evening socials, and feasting on pesky insects that just so hap-pened to taste absolutely delicious. [He IS a frog, ya know!] As he aged, Fred began to ponder the meaning of his life and the very purpose of his existence. Fred soon found himself unhappy and discontent with the life he seemed destined to lead. Finally, Fred decided to break from 'froggy' tradition and travel the world looking for a life of meaning and purpose. He knew his quest was not an easy one- his quest would be long and treacherous. Fred's adventure took him the world over; he toured all the great continents [and even a few of the not-so-great] and met people [and frogs] of every size, shape, and color. Despite his efforts and energies spent, Fred could find no one who could answer his most pressing of questions: "What does it mean to have a life of purpose?" After seven long years of his adventures, Fred seemed no further along than when he started. When suddenly, Fred had the realization he had spent so long searching for. People the world over, regardless of race, culture, class, or wealth, had one thing in common: The pure and utter pleasure brought by great food & friends. Wanting to do more than just spread his insights, Fred also wanted to provide both a means through which others could experience the pleasures and a name by which to call those who shared his outlook. Since his life served as the example by which he now lived, he could find no betters name than FrogHead [distant cousin to Parrotheads] and no better place for friends and family to come together for GREAT FOOD & FUN than, "The FrogHead Grill!" No membership fees would be paid, nor any debt would be owed as its doors would be open to all who want to answer "Yes!" when asked: "Feeling Froggy?" -FrogHead Fred

Eric Trow - Ridermagazine.com It’s easy to become complacent when riding behind other riders. There doesn’t seem to be the same sense of urgency to actively scan the road or look to the mirrors as when we ride solo. Instead, while riding in a group, eyes tend to fixate on bikes ahead, and when we slip into “follow” mode, it’s easy to settle in, let down our guard and let others lead. That’s about the time, at the first hint of a passing zone or straightaway, an impatient driver from behind swoops out and passes, surprising the daylights out of us. That effect repeats one after another as the car blasts by each unsuspecting rider in line. It gets particularly interesting when the overtaking driver suddenly realizes he can’t pass all of the riders before the passing zone ends. How can we minimize risk in these scenarios? By taking an active role and riding our own ride, even when following others. Make the dashed lines of every passing zone a mental trigger to consult the left mirror. Always know if there is a driver behind you. Pick up on aggressive behavior; if a vehicle approaches quickly or tailgates, expect them to abruptly overtake at the first opportunity as your first defense. When riding curves, make a point to check mirrors as you slow and at the moment the road straightens again, and look for that driver to pop out and pass. Is your group about to make a left turn? A mirror and head check could save your life if that driver pulls out to pass just as you all begin to exit left. Expect them, look for them and plan for them. Because, whether you’re ready or not, here they come! It’s the end of the road for many. But it’s just the beginning for those who are comfortable and confident when the pavement ends and gravel or hard-packed dirt begins. Why is it we get so uptight when things get loose underfoot (or under tire, as it were)? Because things feel a little weird and unfamiliar on dirt. The motorcycle moves around more beneath us on unpaved surfaces, the front wheel seems to wander and the handlebars come alive in our sweaty palms. In reality, while things feel loose, there is typically more traction on hard-packed dirt than riders expect. All of that movement the machine is doing? It’s just the bike’s natural way of finding a suitable path forward. That said, there are a few techniques unique to riding unpaved roads vs. a hard, smooth road surface. Stay loose. Avoid fighting the bike’s natural tendency to meander on the uneven surface and, instead, loosen your grip and let the motorcycle find its way. Remember, the bike doesn’t want to fall any more than you do; it wants to keep moving ahead and staying upright. Keep your eyes up, looking well ahead and the bike will follow. Shift your weight from your seat to your feet. With arches on the pegs (or boots flat on the floorboards) and knees against the tank, steer with your lower body and less with your hands. Unlike riding on pavement, you’ll want to keep your body upright, allowing the bike to lean beneath you in corners to maximize traction. While all of this may feel a bit awkward at first, you’ll soon become more comfortable and more confident as you discover just how well even a large motorcycle can navigate dry, unpaved surfaces. And the end of the pavement will be just the beginning of your next riding adventure.
