Workshops Introduction to power tools
For those who have never used power tools before, we take you step-by-step through using a selection of tools including a drill/driver and sander; from choosing the right tool to using the various accessories and attachments.
Advanced power tools
Take the next step - discover how to use an impact drill, angle grinder and jigsaw for DIY tasks in and around the home. Drill into walls, tiles and more. After completing this workshop you will be able to hang your own curtain rails, pictures, mount accessories onto walls and tiles, cut out laminate to install a hob or sink, cut shapes in tiles, and so much more.
Basic Electrical
Finally, a workshop that covers understanding home electricity supply and wiring with projects such as: Wiring a plug, replacing a light socket and plug outlet, installing a light ďŹ tting, replacing a single plug outlet with a double plug outlet, rewiring home appliances, ďŹ tting a dimmer switch, extending cables and power leads, and more.
Basic Plumbing
As with Basic Electrical this workshop make home plumbing and water supply more understandable. Projects include: Theory on replacing sanitaryware (toilet, bath, basin), replacing tap washers or entire taps, unblocking drains, working with PVC and copper piping, understanding your geyser, what to do in an emergency, and others.
Home Repair
Intended as an all-in-one workshop for the amateur DIYer you will learn how to wire a plug, put up a curtain rail, hang pictures, replace or install new bathroom accessories, put up shelving, replace a broken window, and many more common home repair tasks.
Basic Building
Learn how to draw up plan and material list. This theoretical workshop explains how to set down a foundation according to municipal regulations, laying single and double brick rows, mixing cement and mortar, adding on to existing brickwork, installing windows and doors, etc. This workshop will allow you to monitor any building work and know what is to be done, or has not been done, and the correct construction methods.
Painting and Paint Techniques
From preparation to painting, this workshop takes you step-bystep through the various processes involved in painting and decorating your home, including some of the more modern paint techniques. Know the different paints, choose the right brushes and rollers, etc.
Wood Finishing
Restore, renovate and repair. The wood finishing workshop covers anything and everything wood. How to strip paint and varnish, sanding techniques, fixing up damage, rebuilding wood, staining and sealing - for interior and exterior timber.
Tiling and Mosaic
In this course you will discover how to prepare and plan for tiling projects, how to select tiles, the basic procedure for tiling walls and floors - applying adhesive - tile and grout to walls and floors, what tools and accessories are best for your project, as well as mosaic techniques.
Kitchen and Bathroom Design
Find out how easy it is to revamp your kitchen or bathroom without having to call anyone! This workshop cover the design and planning process, measuring up, spacial planning and layout, electrical - plumbing and lighting, as well as tools and techniques that make the job easier.
Basic Woodworking
If you plan to do your own woodworking projects we show you: planning, calculating and drawing your project, different timber and board products, joining and fastening techniques, screws and nails, working with wood glue and wood filler, painting, staining and sealing, working with a jigsaw, circular saw, sander, dowels, biscuits and pockethole jig.
Upholstery techniques
In this workshop you will make a small storage ottoman and discuss the various upholstery techniques for your home. Know how to design and create your own headboard, easy cushions and pillows, how to measure up and make your own curtains and drapes.
