1. Basement Wall:External wall in basement, cavity wall consists of 120mm concrete wall in the inner part and 450mm concrete in the outer part, 100mm extruded polystyrene in between, and a layer of plaster finish as the inner finish. 2.Ground Floor:Floor of ground floor, consists of 220mm precast hollow core concrete slab , 160mm rigid insulation and 5mm mortar and 20mm marble. 3. Partition Floor:Regular floor, consists of 220mm precast hollow core concrete slab , 35mm screed layer and timber flooring 19mm 4.Roof: Flat roof consists of 220 mm precast hollow core concrete slab with 200mm extruded polystyrene on top. water proof membrane is glued to the insulation. 5.Internal loadbearing Wall: Internal load bearing wall, consists of precast 180mm concrete wall and a layer of plaster finish on both side. 6.Basement floor: Floor in the basement, consists of 255mm gravel, vapor barrier, 200mm foam glass, 100mm concrete slab, 30mm screed layer. 7.External Wall:External wall consists of 100mm concrete wall in the inner part and 15mm Zephir cladding brick wall in the outer part, 130mm insulation in between.

Introducation: Södertorpasgården Ideel Forening has invited entries for an architectural competition for proposals for layout of a new retirement home in the Kompassen quarter of Vestre Havnen in MalmÖ Sweden .The project is suited for residents of the age of 65+, and consists of a large number of small flats with access from four stairwells which have entrances directly from street. Plot size: 2800 m² The size is stated excluding the surrounding road and exciting plantation. Ground floor area: 1500 m² 1st floor-3rd floor area:1700 m² 4th floor area:1500 m² Basement area:2130 m² Gross floor area:8100 m² Total area of the building with basement floor: 10,230m²



Loadbearing walls are carrying the story partitions and stabilize the building across.The building is stabilized by longitudinal walls at the stair openings and elevator shafts. Other walls are non-load bearing walls. The story partition is made of hollow core slabs slab elements that are spanning along in the building between the cross walls. And using beam /column system to created more free space.

In the project the escape routes are designed in order to be as straight and as easy as possible for the people to permit their ir quick exit from the building. In case of fire the plan previews to evacuate all the people from the inside ground floor to the outside and when people are not in the nearby of a ground floor safety door, an easy easy, clear and straight escape route is designed desig to guide them to the ground floor and to the exits. The use of the elevator is avoided due to the danger of electrical diseases, so the escape route follows the direction of the stairs.

The ground floor has escape openings directly to the outside, ei either ther through the windows or doors. From the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th floor we have four fire escape stairs. These are created according to the Building regulation 08 “Distance to the nearest door leading to an escape routes: Max: 25m”.

The permission is given under the condition that the information given in the application is followed. The municipality board has recognised no conflict with other laws. It is not controlled if the project is in conflict with any easements on the property.

In addition to the four escape stairs we have decided to have window rescue openings every 6.6 m on each floor. There is around 14 - 16 rescue openings on each floor, they are sufficient for approximately 140 - 160 people. In our case there are only 50 50-70 70 people on each floor, thus we fulfil the requirements giving in the BR 08 and fire fire-fighters fighters have very easy access to the building in order to rescue people if is necessary. The recommended minimum number of escape routes and exits from the flat in this project is 2. Wall and ceiling finishes and flooring on escape routes must be formed such that they do not accelerate the spread of fire and smoke in the timescale within which the escape routes are used for evacuation.

The reinforcing steel bars and tiles are first placed with certain distances, and then setting up positioning and leveling boards. Concrete of 30Mpa are then cast afterwards. In the centre of the complex is a courtyard garden with an underground car park below. The complex will be built using traditional and durable materials. The façade: The façade towards the street will be carried by columns, rendered in a grey--yellow shade. The plinth is dark grey granite. Windows and doors are made of Oak. The roof is covered with zinc sheets. Facing the courtyard, parts of facades consist of steel and glass panels in filled with timber.

1. Load-bearing bearing structures The buildings have concrete load load-bearing structures.

Sustainable

The slab above the basement consists of prestressed concrete on concrete beams and columns.

The International Institute for Industrial Environmental Economics estimated the average energy use in conventional Swedish apartments is 175 kWh/m2/year. Malmo’s average January and July temperatures are approximately –1.2ºC and 17.3ºC respectively. Each apartment unit was originally designed signed to use no more than 105 kWh/m2/year in energy (70 kWh/m2/year in heating, 35 kWh/m2/year in electricity).
