Municipality of Durrës

1. GEOGRAFICAL LOCATION It is extended from the Cape of Rodon in the northwest to Përroi i Agait after the so-called “Kavaja Rock” in southwest, with an average altitude above sea level of 2-6 meters. It is bordered by: - Kurbin Municipality to the north, - Kruja, Vore and Shijak Municipalities to the east, - Kavaja Municipality to the south, and - Adriatic Sea to the west. 2. INHABITANTS AND VILLAGES Population of the Municipality is 175,110 inhabitants as per Census 2011 or 299,989 inhabitants as per National Population Register. Durrës Municipality consists of 6 administrative units: Durres, Sukth, Ishem, Katund i Ri, Rrashbull and Manez. The structure of the population of this local governance unit is 85% urban and 15% rural. Surface: 338.3 km2 3. NATURAL RESOURCES AND MANAGEMENT 35874 ha Forestry and Pasture 40568 ha Agriculture land (Walnut plants, wheat, corn, legume, vegetables, potatoes). Important touristic, historical and archaeological center: Amphitheatre, the Byzantine Fences, the Venetian Tower, the surrounding Wall of the Castle, the Royal Villa, the Observation Tower, the castle of Rodon, Archaeological Museum, the Ethnographic Museum, Orpheus Mosaic, etc. 4.
