Danish Jewish Museum | design by Daniel Libeskind | Copenhagen, Denmark Inside the traditional exterior of the former Royal Boathouse (built in 1598) is the modern interior of the Danish Jewish Museum. The extremely angled walls and piercing slots of light are a stark contrast with many museum’s minmial interiors. Architect Daniel Libeskind intended the sloped wood walls and floor to evoke the feeling of being on a boat, commemorating the WWII voyage of Danish Jews who fled to Sweden to escape the Nazi occupation of Denmark. featured product M100 LED Selux The M100 LED light fixture from Selux comes in recessed, surface-mounted, and suspended versions. Multiple connection options allow for the creation of continuous webs and shapes of light. Greenwich Village Town House | design by Revamp | New York City, USA This stunning private residence features a lap pool with floor-to-ceiling acrylic panels, framed in distressed steel, that offer views along the adjacent passageway. The pool is the focal point of the sixlevel town home’s renovations, which were done by the firm Revamp, founded by Danielle Fennoy and Cece Stelljes. In addition to the pool, they added skylights to provide more natural light and brought together a distinct mix of furnishings and materials to create a glam, yet relaxed environment. featured product Bioglass Coverings, Etc. Bioglass is made from 100 percent recycled glass and is 100 percent recyclable. This semi-translucent material can be used for counters and walls in commercial and residential applications.

Newark International Airport’s Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse | Slade Architecture Weary travelers can find an escape in the Virgin Atlantic Airways’s Clubhouse at the Newark Liberty International Airport. To full utilize the small space, Slade divided the clubhouse into zones based on urban archetypes: a coffee bar, indie movie house, café, and nightclub. The result is a “downtown feel” and a group of funky, energetic spaces for customers to wine, dine, and unwind. featured product Biobased Xorel Textile Carnegie This year, Carnegie introduced a plant-based version of its popular high performance upholstery and wallcovering textile Xorel. The 60-85% plant-based content is derived from sugar cane production and has a significantly lower carbon footprint than traditional Xorel. The textile comes in standard textures as well as beautiful embroidered patterns. featured resource Best Ugly is an overview of exciting restaurant spaces designed by AvroKO, a design and architecture firm. The paradoxical phrase “best ugly” refers to what is lovely and charming in an unexpected, even strange, sort of way. Swedish Free School Organization | Stockholm, Sweden Imagine a space where children’s imaginations come to life. Imagination is reality at the Stockholm location of the Swedish Free School Organization Vittra. There are no walls: only creative, undivided landscapes that foster the school’s mission to promote intellectual curiosity, self-confidence, and communally responsible behavior. Technology is key to Vittra’s educational philosophy, so the space gives large spaces for students to work on individual laptops in big or small groups. featured product Letters by Maharam Designer: Gunnar Aagaard Andersen (1955) This classic Maharam fabric pattern is suitable for seating upholstery and has multiple finish options. A fiber content of 80% wool and 20% nylon adds sustainability because wool is a rapidly-renewable resource. The fun, bright colors, and the manipulated letters subtly reference educational themes. University of Minnesota Children’s Hospital | Minneapolis, MN | Perkins + Will This engaging and innovative room in the University of Minnesota Children’s hospital was made possible by the collaboration of Perkins+Will, as a part of the 1% Program, and the organization Adopt A Room. The 1% program facilitates volunteer efforts of architecture and design firms that help nonprofit organizations. Adopt A Room allows donors to “adopt” children’s hospital rooms in which children help determine design solutions suited to their needs and desires. Perkins + Will created a room that was more comfortable for children and well-designed for staff. featured product Full Circle by 3Form 3form Full Circle resin materials are beautiful as well as socially sustainable. 3form employs local artisans from different countries to produce colorful natural patterns. This contributes to the economic development of the areas and keeps cultural traditions alive.
featured resource Design Like You Give a Damn urges architects and designers to volunteer their skills in places that can least afford them: third world countries and disaster zones. It shares the triumph of design solutions that have already impacted the lives of many by providing improved living situations.
