Greater Boston Orthodontics | design by Merge Architects | Waltham, Massachusetts Although one wouldn’t guess it, this adaptive reuse of a 100-year-old building had a relatively low budget. The stunning space above was created for a minimal cost with white polycarbonate strips and ribs of CNC-milled plywood that descend from a skylight, ending at sinks and cabinets. Throughout the facility, bold neon green graphics inject fun into what may otherwise be an uncomfortable experience. featured product ArcCom Textiles with X-Static technology Pattern: Canyon X In these textiles for use in healthcare settings, X-Static fibers are permanently bonded with a layer of 99.9 percent pure metallic silver. This structure creates an ionic shield that permanently inhibits the growth of bacteria and fungi.

Camper Store Pavilion | design by Shigeru Ban Architects | various locations Shigeru Ban Architects designed this transportable store pavilion for the shoe company Camper to use at different locations of the 2011-2012 Volvo Ocean race. Functionality and sustainability are maximized by using various widths and heights of cardboard tubes, which can be nested inside one another for transport. featured product Seeyond Enclosures Seeyond manufactures portable walls, structures, ceiling, and wall installations to customize space. These can be used to create semi-private spaces within an open interior and can have integrated LED lighting. Acoustic insulation separation from a surrounding environment is created through a frame and fabric construction.

Elena Garro Cultural Centre | by Fernanda Canales & Arquitectura 911sc | Mexico City, Mexico A beautiful example of adaptive reuse, the Elena Garro Cultural Center is a former house converted into a library, which includes a courtyard and a cafe, The new glass fascade draws pedestrians in from the street and provides plentiful natural light. The trees that perforate the ceiling indicate the former existence of the space and pleasingly blur the indoor and outdoor areas. featured product Richlite Surfaces Richlite Richlite is a durable surface made of pressed, recycled paper.
